Changes To Capitol Annex’s Comment Policy
First and foremost, somehow we managed to accidentally turn off users’ ability to comment on posts some time back. We’re not sure how this happened, but we noticed it while trying to implement a new comment strategy here in the Annex. Second, on a trial basis, we’ve lifted the requirement that readers be registered and logged in to comment on Capitol Annex. Hopefully, thanks to a CAPTCHA plugin (yes, that means those squiggly letters and numbers), we won’t be bombarded with spam comments. We’ll try this for a week and see how it goes.

      Making Simple Changes
Ever wondered why some people manage to keep their weight off easily and others just pile it all back on when they stop that new diet? The answer is easy; it comes down to one simple change.People who keep their weight loss off change tiny things in their daily life. Instead of full fat milk they have skimmed, they grill rather than fry and they choose to reduce the amount of cheese, cream, cakes and biscuits they eat, every single day.Now you are immediately going to say that that is lots of changes not just one. To some degree you would be correct, but not completely. If you look at a photograph it is one small picture but when looked at closely, it is made up of thousands of pixels. One small sugar cube is made up of hundreds of sugar grains, and a handkerchief consists of numerous cotto

Calls for changes on state aid for mortgage debt
The Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) has called on the government to change the way the state helps those who incur mortgage arrears on their mortgage due to unemployment. With the current economic situation there is a possibility we will see rising unemployment over the next 12 months. The CML say hat the current situation is unacceptable as it takes to long for state aid to be granted. The current DSS rules give the borrower no financial assistance for the first 9 months in the event of involuntary unemployment, assist only the interest element of the monthly payment after 9 months and give very limited assistance in the event of accident or sickness. When you have such a large loan as a mortgage not being repaid a lender can not wait 9 months for the borrower to start making payments and

Spellings Pens Regulatory Changes Without Congress
"Graduate" = leave on time with a regular degree This from the Associated Press: No Child Left Behind faces changesWASHINGTON (AP) — Unable to push education fixes through Congress, the Bush administration is taking its own pen to the No Child Left Behind law.Education Secretary Margaret Spellings says she plans to make a host of changes to the education law through regulations being unveiled Tuesday.Among the biggest changes will be a requirement that by the 2012-13 school year, all states must calculate their high school graduation rates in a uniform way.States currently use all kinds of methods to determine their graduation rates, many of which are based on unreliable information about school dropouts, leading to overestimates.States will be told to count graduates, in most cases, as

Getting Amazing Life Changes: You The Observer
Have you ever heard of the saying, "If you change how you look at something, what your looking at will change." That is a very real fact. It also applies to how you look at yourself, and your life. The part of you that consciously thinks is the observer, and the observer has ABSOLUTE control because the observer has a choice in what is viewed and how it is viewed.

      Alexa changes website ranking system
Web traffic rankings site Alexa.com (a division of Amazon) has finally changed it's ranking system. Alexa will no longer measure data based on users of the Alexa toolbar, rather ranking sites based on aggregating data from various sources. Alexa announced the changes this past week, noting that many websites will notice significant changes in their rankings. Although the service has been popular with smaller sites, which don't qualify for Nielsen rankings, critics have long argued that Alexa's reliance on data from toolbar users skewed the results and created biased rankings. Alexa rankings data that dates beyond the previous nine months will no longer be available, but in the company blog Alexa reported ongoing plans to adjust historical data too. In the meantime, Alexa graphs will now o

Aamir Khan once again changes the director of his new film Delhi Belly
Aamir Khan’s production of Delhi Belly seems to be undergoing a lot of pre-production belly-aches…not a strange occurrence for Mr Khan. Remember the changes Taare Zameen Par (TZP) went through as it made its journey from Amole Gupte to Aamir Khan? While the directorial responsibility in TZP changed when the film was almost complete, Delhi Belly has changed directors even before the shooting has started. The original choice to direct Aamir Khan’s quirky and crisp sex comedy was the Swedish director Robert Nylund. No more so. The film has a new director and probably a new language as well.Says a source close to the project, “Robert Nylund has been replaced by Abinay Deo who is veteran actors Ramesh and Seema Deo’s younger son(the elder one, Ajinkya Deo, is a recognizable Marathi and

My SysAd Blog Changes Domain Name
I finally implemented the domain name, www.mysysad.com, for My SysAd Blog. I had been reluctant to change the name because I had heard nightmare stories where a site’s traffic dries up overnight. But apparently Blogger does a decent job forwarding requests to your new domain. I have not really noticed a drop off. Knock on wood though…I found my domain registrar, yahoo, Advanced DNS settings to be somewhat limited. I had no problems setting up the canonical name (www.mysysad.com) to Google’s ghs.google.com, which is a load balanced server array, but setting up the A record for mysysad.com has been annoying. Unless the A record is pointing to an explicit hostname IP, yahoo will not allow it. I was trying to set it to ghs.google.com. Moreover, Blogger will not forward requests for mysy

      Changes to Qatar Sponsorship system
There were dramatically different accounts of what will happen to the sponsorship system in Qatar in Gulf Times and the Peninsula today.According to the Gulf Times there is to be little change in the sponsorship law, and expatriates hoping for liberalisation of sponsership rules - which currently break international conventions, and have been criticised by the US as encouraging people trafficking - will be disappointed. One of the so-called changes, removing the right of the employer to retain the employees passport, was already included in Qatar Labour Law, and in any case makes little difference when the employee does not have the right to leave the country without an exit permit.Intriguingly, the Peninsula has a completely different interpretation:"The exit permit system is all set to be

US IT outsourcing changes its geography?
Given the uncertainty about the US economic situation continues, a recent survey has forecast that spending on IT by the world’s biggest economy will shrink in the April-June quarter for the first time in nearly seven years (according to ). So US companies are looking for cost reduction, thus choosing cheap labour outsourcing destinations. As outsourcing to India becomes more expensive, North American companies are seeking alternatives. In years past a company could save 40% to 50% by hiring Indian firms to handle IT and other services, says Atul Vashistha, chairman at neoIT management consulting firm. Should the U.S. dollar continue its descent, that differential would shrink to 10% to 20%, he estimates. "If you're only going to have a 20% savings, clients start to think about time zone
