Early stage in situ breast cancer has always been the easiest to underwrite for life insurance, although most companies still levy an extra charge for 1-3 years after completion of treatment.
Now one company has separated from the pack and has taken a bold stance, finally acknowledging that survival (mortality) rate is really what this is all about, and stage 1 or stage 2 in situ breast cancer have extremely high survival rates post lumpectomy.
This is great news because in the life insurance business, if one company has a good idea, other companies are sure to follow. With this change, given the criteria above, better than standard rates can be within reach as little as six months post treatment.
This now puts breast cancer into the same underwriting pool as early stage and low grade prostate cancer.
Bottom line. Life insurance underwriting all comes down to mortality experience. As studies show vast improvements in cancer survivability, underwriting will follow.

Really, who would have thought a month ago that Mike Huckabee a "real dark horse" among Republican presidential candidates would emerge from that scenario in second place, and that former Wisconsin Governor, Tommy Thompson would throw in the towels this time around? Well, Thompson has bowed out and Huckabee catches a straw with high hopes of riding it all the way to the White House.Mitt Romney bought a spot and won 4,516 votes. A 13 year old boy who was fishing in the Netherlands hooked a Dutch scuba diver’s lip. I am sure that this was a surprise for both the boy and the scuba diver, but at least he caught the lip because there are other places that could have made this situation a lot worse.
According to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf Wim van Huffelen, who was scuba diving in the North Sea, said, “I heard a sound on my head and immediately I felt a jerk on my lip.” The newspaper also placed a picture in the report that showed the diver with the hook stuck in his mouth.
A doctor was able to finally get the hook out of his mouth. As of right now there have been no other details on this story. I would like to know what happened in between him getting hooked and getting to shore with the hook still in his mouth. Did the scuba diver get reeled to the boat or only enough for the boy to see that he didn’t have a fish? Hopefully they will provide more details later on.

A 19-year-old Farmington woman suffered multiple burns Friday night at a gas pump after a lighter she was playing may have ignited some gas fumes and set her on fire, said San Juan County Sheriff’s Office Detective Lt. Tyler Truby.
Witness reports suggest that sometime after 9 p.m., Brianna Sanchez was standing next to her boyfriend while he was filling his truck with gas at the Sundial Gas Station located on New Mexico Highway 170, 12 miles north of Farmington.
Sanchez told deputies she had just finished a cigarette and still had a cigarette lighter in her hand.
The evidence suggests that the lighter she was toying with was what likely caused ignition, Truby confirmed.
“At some point, she must have sparked it,” he said.

A Rutherford County judge denied the district attorney’s petition to reinstate misdemeanor charges against the NFL player, who had struck a deal in January to have disorderly conduct and public intoxication charges dismissed pending six months of good behavior.
Assistant District Attorney Thomas Parkerson filed a petition on June 22 asking the judge to reinstate charges against Jones, who curently faces felony coercion charges stemming from a Feb. 19 shooting incident at a Las Vegas strip club. “Being indicted on felony charges does not constitute good conduct,” Parkerson said. An Indonesian fisherman hooked a rare coelacanth, a species once thought as extinct as dinosaurs, and briefly kept the ``living fossil'' alive in a quarantined pool. Justinus Lahama caught the four-foot, 110-pound fish early Saturday off Sulawesi island near Bunaken National Marine Park, which has some of the highest marine biodiversity in the world. The fish died 17 hours later, an extraordinary survival time, marine biologist Lucky Lumingas said Sunday. ``The fish should have died within two hours because this species only lives in deep, cold-sea environment,'' he said. Lumingas works at the local Sam Ratulangi University, which plans to study the carcass. The coelacanth (pronounced SEE-la-kanth) was believed to be extinct for 65 million years until one was found in 1938 off Africa's coast, igniting worldwide interest. For some reason this works, and makes me laugh, but it shouldn’t, it’s only a guy catching some glasses on his face after all. A part of me still thinks this is faked, that there’s some sort of camera trickery going on, but why would you?! It’s probably cheaper and easier to just keep trying to do it until that one take when he does actually get them on his face, and put the 10 times where he had his eye gouged out, or knocked a tooth out, down to experience, and in the edit bin.
