~Snooper~As previously reported here and many other places, the Iraqi Army was mistaken. They captured a guy with a similar name. US Forces have confirmed that Abu Ayyub al-Masri has not been captured.Consider this a retraction until such time that we retract the retraction. More details to follow as they trickle in.
Great post today from Bob Owens of Confederate Yankee:
Starting over a year ago with the discovery of a new kind of roadside bomb—EFPs or explosively-formed projectiles—American commanders in Iraq began believing that Iran was supplying weapons to militants in Iraq. That belief grew as more munitions were captured, including 34 unfired rockets captured on July [...]

A mugger in America was arrested this week. The mugger not only robbed his victim but also took the time to lick her toes before making a quick getaway. Commander Kevin Clasp called the incident, in St. Paul, Minnesota, 'weird sexual behavior.' The incident occurred when a 24-year-old woman was leaving work around 1a.m. on Saturday. The suspect, a 27-year-old man, approached her and demanded her keys and phone. After that, instead of running away he took time out to remove her shoes and licked her toes. The woman was not hurt, police said but it was definitely a mistake on his behalf. Police arrested the man a few minutes later about four blocks away after he had stopped to be sick. The woman identified the suspect, and police were able to recover her keys and phone. The man was

Never missing an opportunity to use the “torture card” to gain sympathy, Taliban members captured by Canadian troops and handed over to Afghan authorities say they have been tortured. (NO! Say it isn’t so!!!)
Three prisoners are claiming they were beaten with bricks and cables, given electric shocks, deprived of sleep and had their nails torn out.
The three said they had been captured by Canadian troops, given a document that said torture was no longer used in Afghanistan and then transferred to the Afghan secret police.
“The people from the secret service tore it (the document) up and threw it in my face. They tortured me for 20 hours. I protested and said the Canadians had promised that nothing would happen to me.”
“They replied: ‘We’re not in Canada, we’re at home. The Canadians are dogs!’” he said.

Brady Barr, the National Geographic Channel’s resident herpetologist, is wading waist-deep in a vile and viscous puree of bat guano in a cave in Indonesia when he is attacked by a 12-foot reticulated python. The snake wraps itself around his legs, sinks its razor-sharp teeth into his left thigh, shredding his flesh. Screams of excruciating pain echo off the cave’s walls. The footage is chilling. The attack will be broadcast on National Geographic Channel at 8 p.m. ET and PT on Saturday.Barr was on a remote island in Indonesia, far from civilization. He had to hike two miles uphill to a car to get to a rural clinic to get the wound properly cleaned and then travel even farther to get it stitched. Some 27 hours after the attack, he finally got to a modern medical center in Singapore, where he was pumped full of antibiotics and began a four-week series of shots to protect him against rabies.Indonesia News Blog: http://indosnesos.blogspot.com
If you have extreme fear for sharks, think again. You have actually not seen the most fearsome of all sharks! Brace yourself for the mighty and ghastly Frilled Shark.A frilled shark is no ordinary shark. It is prehistoric and has an exceptionally remarkable appearance. It is believe to take up the body shape of a dark brown or grey eel, except that the body has six-gill slits, which sharks would normally have. The reason behind the name of this unique creature is in the gill slits tissues that jut out from the slits. It has a massive body of two meters in length. It is an ancient creature and has probably thought to be extinct, but on 21 January 2007, the world was in for surprise when a frilled shark was discovered in the waters of Japan, specifically near the Awashima Marine Park, which is located in Shizuoka, southwest of Tokyo. It was a female frilled shark that was found by one of the staff working at the marine park. The 1.6 meter long shark was found to be ill, and afterwards was

A woman in Texas has captured a chupacabra (a legendary cryptid otherwise known as a mangy dog or grey fox) and stuck it in her freezer for evidence. I think there's definitely a sucker involved here, but it's not a goat sucker:
Phylis Canion says the animal had been lurking around her ranch for years.
She said it first snatched cats, then chickens right through a wire cage. “(It) opened it reached in pulled the chicken head out, sucked all the blood out, left the chicken in the cage.”
Canion says two dozen chickens were sucked dry.
The meat, she says, was left on the bone.
Neighbors speculate the blue-colored animal that was doing all that damage was a chupacabra.
The name is translated from Spanish and means goat-sucker because the creature sucks the blood of livestock.
Canion says not one, but three chupacabras were spotted outside the town in recent days.
All of them, she says, were blue-skinned, had no hair and had strange teeth.
Although Canion and her neighbors f

Call it a bit of a "video killed the radio star" moment, circa 2007: John Curley, who had been a deputy managing editor of The San Francisco Chronicle, announced that he was let go from the newspaper by posting the news on Flickr, the photo-sharing Web site."I leave with great sadness, but not a trace of bitterness," Curley wrote in his entry on Tuesday, which included a picture of his desk at the newspaper before he packed. "We all know what is happening to the newspaper industry, and it is not pretty." One of the biggest things happening to the newspaper industry is that people are flocking to Web sites like Flickr, which is owned by Yahoo, for news, gossip and friendship, and turning to newsprint less often. Even Flickr, once primarily a site for swapping images, has become more of an online community: in this case, dozens of people turned out to post comments of solidarity on Curley's page."Off you go to something greater, man," wrote someone who calls himself Razorbern and uses a
According to a group of Al-Qaeda linked insurgents, the three American soldiers that were captured last month have been killed. The insurgents released a video today of the ambush, but showed no proof that the troops have been killed.
Once of the voices in the video said, “The Americans sent 4,000 soldiers looking for them,” and that “they were alive and then dead.” The video was very jerky and showed some battle scenes at night and then a close-up of two ID cards, but never showed the soldiers.
One of the soldiers was found dead in the Euphrates River, but the other two soldiers have yet to be found. The US military said that the search for the two missing soldiers will continue.
Brig. Gen. Kevin Vergner, who is the chief military spokesman in Baghdad, said “We condemn the tactics used by these terrorists, and are using all means available to pursue those responsible,” and that “we continue to search and hope that our two missing soldier
Al-Qaida linked insurgents killed three American soldiers after capturing them last month in Iraq, according to a militant video released Monday that claimed to show footage of the ambush. The video, which was made available to The Associated Press by the Washington-based SITE Institute, showed confused and jerky night battle scenes, and later offered close-ups of two identification cards. "The Americans sent 4,000 soldiers looking for them," said an unidentified voice on the video, which was made available to The Associated Press by the Washington-based SITE Institute. "They were alive and then dead." At the end of the 10-minute 41-second video, the identification cards of the two missing soldiers were shown, with the headline: "Bush is the reason of the loss of your POWs" written on the screen above the cards. SITE did not say how it obtained the video, which featured the logo of media production house of the Islamic State of Iraq. Along with the identification cards, the footage als
In Baghdad yesterday, Coalition and Iraqi raids were largely focused on the Mahdi Army. Also, Iraqi Special Operations Forces captured a Mahdi Army commander in the Kadamiyah district in central Baghdad yesterday. The Mahdi commander "is alleged to be responsible for providing financial, logistical, and political support for multiple insurgent groups and terrorist organizations" and is also "suspected of overseeing the training of insurgent recruits on terrorist methods including the construction and detonation of Improvised Explosive Devices and Explosively Formed Projectiles." Two more Mahdi operatives were captured in Sadr City today. "They are believed to be members of the secret cell terrorist network known for facilitating the transport of weapons and explosively formed penetrators, or EFPs, from Iran to Iraq, as well as bringing militants from Iraq to Iran for terrorist training," according to the Multinational Forces Iraq press release. Coalition forces killed eight terrorists and detained 34 suspected terrorists during two operations today to disrupt the al Qaeda command network, Defense Department officials said. Northeast of Karmah, coalition forces advanced toward a targeted building, officials said. Six terrorists emerged from a nearby vehicle, armed with automatic weapons and military-style assault vests. Coalition forces, perceiving a hostile threat from an organized force, engaged the six men with an air strike, killing them, officials said. Coalition forces detained four suspected terrorists within the targeted building for their alleged ties to senior al Qaeda leaders. Meanwhile, coalition forces approached a target southwest of Baghdad and were blocked by two armed men in tactical positions near the objective. Coalition forces perceived a hostile threat, engaged the two terrorists, and killed them, officials said. Ground forces proceeded to secure the building and detained 14 people suspected of having ties
Underwater photography is growing every year, those who go diving wish to bring the diving world visible to those who do not dive. We have always been fascinated with the oceans and bays of the world as an unknown world. Bringing vacation pictures home to your friends or selling them as professionals has been a time honored tradition and now we can bring the underwater world home through the use of digital photography.
There are many types of underwater cameras. You have the highly expensive professional cameras and the one time slightly effective versions. Knowing which camera will work for you is very important. Part of finding the right camera may lie with in the housing you wish to purchase. Underwater photography requires you to protect your camera from the harmful affects of water so you will have to purchase housing with seals to eliminate the water. The housing you find may fit the camera you have. In fact, most companies will sell the housing for the cameras yo
Coalition forces nabbed about 94 suspects and discovered several weapons caches during raids across Iraq in the past three days. Coalition forces detained 11 suspected al Qaeda in Iraq members today, nabbing 10 suspects in Samarra and another in Baghdad. Intelligence reports indicate the suspect detained in the Iraqi capital was part of a local operation to acquire bomb-making materials, military officials said. "Almost every day, ... al Qaeda in Iraq uses explosives to kill and maim innocent Iraqis and the security forces striving to protect them," said Army Lt. Col. Christopher Garver, a Multinational Force Iraq spokesman. "Removing these explosives and the terrorists who use them is a top priority." Army soldiers attached to the 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment "Polar Bears," and the 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment "Golden Dragons" of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, discovered two improvised explosive devices and a weapons cache southwest of Baghdad t

Senior counter-terrorism sources told The Times that he was the man who, in 2003, identified Britain as the key battleground for exporting al-Qaeda's holy war to Europe. After al-Qaeda restructured its operations in Pakistan's tribal areas he sought out young Britons for instruction at training camps. In late 2004 Abd al-Hadi met Mohammad Sidique Khan and Shehzad Tanweer, from Leeds,

April 22, 2007 - Iraqi national police stopped a suicide bomber operating in the Sadr City neighborhood in eastern Baghdad at about 2:30 p.m. yesterday. Elsewhere, Iraqi and coalition forces captured numerous suspected terrorists and found several weapons caches. Is the release of the school sex DVD timed to sway board vote? Investigators Friday were trying to determine if the person who planted a hidden camera in a Lynwood principal's office, capturing two months of sexual romps, was trying to manipulate the outcome of next Tuesday's school board election. Sandridge Elementary Principal Leroy Coleman resigned, citing health problems, and teacher Janet Loften resigned, citing a family illness, after school officials confronted them about their activities in a 2½-hour DVD that surfaced this week. The video, apparently made with a camera hidden in the ceiling of Coleman's office, captures a mostly clothed couple in a variety of positions and in an assortment of sexual acts, including some at the edge of a desk covered with carefully stacked papers. Is This Crisit An Iranian Retaliation For U.S. Raid?A botched attempt by the U.S. to abduct two senior Iranian officials on a visit to Iraq 10 weeks ago was the flashpoint for the current crisis in which detained 15 British troops in the Persian Gulf, the Independent reported. The U.S. move happened on the morning of Jan. 11, when forces carried out a surprise raid on an established Iranian liaison's office in northern Iraq, the newspaper claimed. While the forces nabbed five junior Iranian officials, whom the U.S. still holds on accusations of being intelligence agents, the paper said the objective of the mission was to seize two men at the "very heart of the Iranian security establishment."The current crisis began March 23, when Iran grabbed 15 British sailors and marines and claimed the crew was in Iranian waters. Iran showed three British sailors on television and released a letter today from one of the sailors that says she is remaining captive because of “oppressive” behavior in Iraq on the part of US and Britain.
A third letter from British sailor Faye Turney said, “I am writing to you as a British service person who has been sent to Iraq, sacrificed due to the intervening policies of the Bush and Blair governments.”
Tony Blair, British Prime Minister, said that these letters and the TV airing of three British sailors is causing more disgust from people at the way Iran is treating these sailors and marines and could possibly cause Iran more isolation.
The video that was released showed a woman in a headscarf and two men in uniforms who were talking and smiling in a room together. On the footage on of the sailors said, “We trespassed without permission,” and that, “I would like to apologize for entering your waters without any permission…I de

Iran is ignoring the international pressure for the release of the 15 British sailors that were captured by saying today that they are in the process of interrogatting them because they entered Iran’s waters illegally.
However, Britain, who is backed by Baghdad, said that the one woman and 14 men were seized inside Iraqi waters in the Shatt al-Arab waterway, which divides Iraq and Iran. The sailors were conducting a “routine” anti-smuggling operation when they where captured at gunpoint.
Britain’s Ambassador Geoffrey Adams has met with Iranian officials for two days, and according to the Foreign Office these meetings were performed in a “business-like atmosphere.” One spokeswoman said “the ambassador pressed hard for details of where the detainees are being held and for consular access to them and what plans the Iranians had for their release.”
The spokeswoman also said that “the MFA (ministry of foreign affairs) assured us that
Indonesian police may have captured one of Indonesia's prime terror suspects, wanted for helping protect Bali bombings mastermind Noordin Mohammed Top. Indonesian officers from the Detachment 88 anti-terror squad, which Australia helped set up after the Bali bombings, killed one terror suspect and injured another during the ambush on a Yogyakarta street last night. The men are believed to be members of the network of prime terror suspect Abu Dujanah, wanted for helping protect Noordin Top - Indonesia's most wanted terrorist. It was unclear whether Dujanah, also known as Ainul Bahri, was among those involved in the shootout in front of a shop in the Depok sub-district of Yogyakarta, about 7pm (2300 AEDT) yesterday. However, Indonesia's Metro TV reported Dujanah, from west Java, was one of six people were arrested.
I love the way they use "alleged" as if foreigners in Iraq with bombs could be anything but.

This time Japanese fishers hauled up a goblin shark, and again it died shortly after. There seems to be some head scratching going on about why these animals are being caught so close to the surface.
A frilled shark, rarely seen alive because its natural habitat is 600 metres (2,000 ft) or more under the sea, is seen in this photo released by the Awashima Marine Park in Numazu, south of Tokyo January 24, 2007. The primitive shark with 1.6 meter (5 ft) was caught and filmed at the Japanese marine park after receiving a call from a fisherman at a nearby port on Sunday when he came across the odd-looking eel-like creature with a mouthful of sharp teeth. Wish I could've posted this earlier, but I was on a trip up north today. Don't forget Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser, and I thank Michelle Malkin for remembering them: JERUSALEM - In their first comment about the fate of two soldiers whose capture triggered a monthlong war between Israel and Hezbollah guerrillas last summer, Israeli officials said Wednesday the two were seriously wounded — raising the prospect they may no longer be alive.
The Israeli military censor allowed publication of the existence of the report on Wednesday, and local media broadcast sketchy details. Military officials told The Associated Press the report determined that one of the soldiers was critically wounded and the other seriously wounded when they were captured, without giving further details. They spoke on condition of anonymity under military rules.
"If they did not receive immediate medical treatment, there is grave concern for their lives," Israel TV military correspondent Yoav Limor said on the ni
From the article:Dion was bolstered by a snap Strategic Counsel poll in the hours after his victory, which showed the Liberals ahead with 37 percent support, to 31 percent for Harper's Conservatives. That's in contrast to a poll before the convention, which showed the Liberals lagging with 27 percent support, to 35 percent for the Tories.Wow, an 8 point deficit to a 6 point lead? Oh wait, those polls aren't even by the same polling company. The last Strategic Counsel poll had them tied. I'm fairly confident that their numbers will settle down not long from now. Already Dion's getting pounded for his French citizenship. And we have to remember that before the convention, it was revealed that no leadership candidate would be able to draw significant numbers from either the Conservatives or the NDP.Among Liberal voters, 68 per cent said they were certain to vote Liberal again or would consider doing so with Rae at the helm, compared with 63 per cent for Dion, 61 per cent for Ignatieff
Mona Chopra dress changing MMS clip is being circulated all over the place, just before release of her hot skin flick ‘Naughty Boys’ and she is doubtful weather it is her or someone else in it. It seems like Naughty Boys have been at work off late. The actress is very upset as she finds it very cheap. The clip shows Mona Chopra changing her clothes during a movie shoot. The actress has seen the MMS but is not sure about the woman in video. Speaking on the same she explained that she undresses herself so many times during shooting. It might have happened that someone secretly shot her in nude. Calling it a serious breach of her privacy, Mona is planning to take legal advice on the issue from her lawyer. The actress said, “I find it very cheap. I can’t resort to these kinds of publicity stunts. It is seriously in a bad taste. But first I have to find out whether it is really me there in the MMS or someone else. It is quite possible that it is me, there in the MMS clip, but I cannot
Patti Smith (pictured above) from her 1964 New Jersey High School Year Book.Back in October when Patti closed the CBGB's all us Blondie fans thought she performed 'The Hunter Get's Captured By The Game' as some kind of back-handed nod to Debbie and the boys. Although originally recorded by Smokey Robinson, Blondie covered this tune on their 1982 album 'The Hunter'. However, I recently got hold of two live recordings of Patti Smith dating back to 1975 and on both occasions she sings this tune, some years before Blondie committed their version to vinyl. It's still not a patch on Blondie's version, but have a listen for yourself.'The Hunter Get's Captured By The Game' (1975 live recording)more Patti SmithPatti at CBGB's 2006 part 1Patti at CBGB's 2006 part 2Patti & Fred Smith - It Takes Time
Recently I have done some work using this technique, and thanks must go to a number of very experienced members of a couple of forums who have contributed their tips, techniques and experiences. The forums are: www.talkcrafts.co.uk & www.ukstampers.co.uk .There are a few schools of thought about the technique and the resultant pieces of work can vary considerably dependent on how it is done. The effect is achieved by applying acrylic floor finish to acetate. Layering this with tissue paper with the addition of coloured inks and glitter/pearl powders. The number of layers depend on the effect that you wish to achieve. Finally the front of the acetate can be stamped with a stamp of your choice and Stazon Ink.Briefly the medium to use is 'Klear' floor finish made by Johnson Wax. Yes, it seems weird but that is what you need to use. It comes in a 500ml bottle which goes quite a way (and you can also use it on floors too !!!!).Materials required:AcetateMasking tape'Klear' floor finishWhi
