Panasonic is gearing up to intro new stuff at the NAB show this April and as a prelude, it's gone ahead and announced the AG-HMC150, an AVCHD SD card-based camcorder. Panasonic has also announced the reasonably priced pro HD options, which includes the HDV-based AG-HVX200. Sony is back with two new high-end 1080p HDV cameras, the $10,500 HVR-S270U and the $6,850 HVR-Z7U. Pure Digital Technologies, the makers of the Flip Video YouTube Camcorder, have announced that they are to give away one million free Flip Video camcorders over the next five years to non-profit organisations to help them document world issues and highlight the invaluable work they do across the globe – and its all thanks to a certain Bill Clinton.
In the press release Jonathan Kaplan, the CEO of Pure Digital Technologies, states ‘Non-profit organizations do incredible everyday work that the public rarely sees. Imagine the impact that video would make if every on-the-ground staff member or volunteer had both a camcorder and the ability to broadcast their message to the world.’
The camcorders are due to be distributed from today via Clinton Global Interactive and PDT’s Flip Video Spotlight Website with PDT offering a purchase one get one free deal for those organisations that are accepted by the scheme.

Hitachi has unveiled two models. Both units, the DZ-BD70A and the DZ-BD7HA, record about an hour’s worth of 1920×1080 high definition video on 8cm Blu-ray discs. However, the “flagship” DZ-BD7HA is a hybrid model that includes a hard-drive capable of saving about four hours of 1920×1080 video or up to eight hours of 1440×1080 content.
Additionally, video can be recorded in standard definition to DVD discs, said Hitachi.The manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the BD70A is about US$1,300. The hard-drive model will cost an extra $200.
The cameras come equipped with Hitachi’s new 5.3 megapixel CMOS (complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor) image sensor and HD (high-definition) quality 12-element lens system.
