How to control kids from entering cyber-cafes
Recently a parent went to the police seeking help to get his son out from a cyber-cafe.  “Once he’s in there, he will be glued for several hours in LAN gaming.  What can I do?” I am just wondering if he’s ever considered cutting the teenager’s school allowance so he has no way to save money [...]

      London Cafes
I f you are lookin for glorious waft of fresh coffee, the smell you expect to find as you wander through a backstreet of Paris, or in an Italian cafe, you must visit ther main streets of London’s Soho.:) Despite wonderful coffees, cafeterias in London offer a wide selection of cakes. I recommend Caffe Nero. It`s ideal place to rest after a hard days work or shopping. Tasteful decor and a fine choice of beverages make for a positive, appealing experience. London Eye offers a unique view over London. It`s located opposite the Houses of Parliament, over the River Thames. To have wonderful panorama of London you should pick a clear day. It`s worth to visit it  at night, as well. There are 34 capsules, and “flight” takes about 30 minutes.

2007 Greece Travel Tips: Internet Cafes
The internet is an integral part of ones life. Using the internet at ones hotel can cost about 8 euros (over $10) an hour. Two economic internet cafes are inSpot in Chios City, Chios and Cinema Bowling Billiards in Tripolis, Greece. Inspot at Leforos Aigeou 86 overlooking Chios City harbor is a youth oriented place. The managers are helpful. Teenagers play at the latest video games for hours. One hour of internet service is two

Valletta eating out - bars, cafes & restaurants
Valletta is dotted with small restaurants, cafes and interesting bars. All have their own unique character. Maison La Vallette is situated minutes away from the best top eating places from the hip Two-Twenty Two to the Cockney's Bar & Restaurant just down the road next to the ferry.Maltese cuisine is similar to Italian food, with added influences from other Mediterranean countries. However, the surprising local fondness for Sunday roasts has nothing to do with geography and everything to do with Malta’s long period under British control. The island’s cuisine has been heavily influenced by the many cultures that have occupied the island over the centuries. The most influential and not surprising is the very strong Italian , and to a lesser extent North African i

Wayward kids seek all-night gaming at Internet cafes
Can you imagine a world where kids stay out all night playing video games at Internet cafes? Believe it or not, that’s already happening in China. Read this news story: “China opens halfway house for Net addicts.”According to the article, “Computer and online gaming has exploded in China in recent years, with an estimated 14 million people taking part. Amid growing concern that more and more young people are getting hooked, China has issued a raft of regulations aimed at curbing excessive game playing at Internet cafes and heavily fining owners that admit minors.”Wang Hui, the chief social worker at the halfway house for Internet addicts that recently opened in mainland China, claims that they don’t force kids to go to the shelter. “We wander around in nearby Internet bars at night and bring them to the halfway house if the teen agrees.”Internet addiction could very well be a legitimate thing, but I can’t help think about the family dynamics of the homes where these w

Cafes worth checking out in Crewe... Delikatessa
Last Friday I broke with recent habits. By way of a change I though I'd try one of smaller coffee shops/cafes that are dotted around the town centre. I've become guilty of sticking with Costa Coffee and Harvey's in recent months, so I suggested to a friend that we give somewhere else a go. So, just a few yards from the Market Street and Victoria Street junction (you know, the pedestrianised bit near Burtons, Max Speilman and the Grand Junction pub) we stumbled upon Delikatessa. It's actually on Heath Street that runs down towards the Lyceum and the market. I've passed it many times but assumed it was simply a deli. How wrong I was. Inside is a beautifully presented deli counter, boasting an impressive range of meats, cheeses and exotic olives, sun-dried tomatoes and more. It's a small space, but a dog-legged staircase takes you to the upper floor where you can choose from cakes, sarnies, teas and coffees. It was packed and obviously very popular. We grabbed the only table availab

      Cafes on Queensway
Continuing the theme of closed down shops and businesses and what the future holds for certain traders in Crewe... some good news. Well, maybe only temporary. I was going to post the above snap of Bellini's under the heading "Another one bites the dust" but, on closer inspection of the orange poster in the window, it appears that they are simply having a quick refurb. Goods news, as I like Bellini's. Situated next to Harvey's on the Queensway block opposite Market Square I did wonder about its future. But if they are spending cash on improvements you'd assume that the business has at least a couple of years trading ahead of it before the 1950s block meets the bulldozer, wouldn't you? Bad news for those hoping to see the town centre make-over start this year...

More About Sitting in Cafes - a plea for slow tourism
In my last post I talked about sitting outside a cafe in Cesky Krumlov, I was drinking a latte and eating Czech honey cake, reading a book and watching the world go by. I can do that for hours. Cesky Krumlov is a great place for slow tourism. And as I sit I watch the other tourists and what are they doing? Rushing about - they are "doing" Cesky Krumlov. Many of the tourists are on day trips from Prague (3 hrs away). They get off the coach run round the castle, have lunch in one of the hundreds of restaurants and catch a few minutes wandering around the shops, before piling back on to the coach exhausted. Meanwhile I might have finished my latte. Then there is the other type of tourist - the backpacker. You will find dozens of blogs from them with entries eulogising the town, its beer, its atmosphere. Often the blog entry will say stopped for a night in Cesky Krumlov on the way from Vienna to Prague, Krakow to Berlin or whatever. They are "doing" Europe. We see them in England - "doing" O

Internet cafes found to be havens for dubious computing
More than half of all illegal computer access in 2005 was made using computers at Internet cafes, and about 70 percent of such cases in which suspects have not been identified were from cafe computers, according to the National Police Agency. The anonymity provided by Internet cafes helps impede the process of criminal [...]
