      Internet Browsers Dumb You Down?
We all know and enjoy the AutoFill button on our Internet browsers which make sure our usernames & passwords are memorized on the computer so that we don't have to think about them if need be. As much as they seem to facilitate our life on the computer, they also contribute in reducing our memory. Proof is that sometimes this button messes up and can't fill out the form required, and if we don't have the info memorized or written somewhere, we are pretty much unable to access that page, such as an email account. Many studies advise us to always train our brains either through crossword puzzles or any stimulating mental activity. Memorizing one's passwords is as good since it makes the neurons get their sweat on, so to speak. Some will complain that they have more than an email account and

Testing in different browsers using Browsershots.org
If you're a template designer or happen to redesign your blog on your own, you must want to know how it looks in other browsers than the one you're using. It's easy enough to open up the few browsers you have installed in your computer and test your newly designed blog in it. But to know for sure that it works ok in all the browsers out there is next to impossible. Just to test in 2 different version of browsers, IE6 and IE7, are tough enough - as I've faced with previously.I have the IE7 and can't have the IE6 installed in the same machine. There are options out there to install a virtual PC in your machine so that I can install IE6. But it requires quite a large space for the virtual PC alone, and there are some other things to get out of the way to get everything in place. So, thanks but

      Lesson 5 - Alternative Browsers
Ever see a orange fox icon on your desktop and wonder what that is?It's called Firefox, it's Internet Explorers rival, how about a red "O",it's called Opera although not as well known it's also another web browser. So although you thought you were keeping up with what your child hasbeen doing on the Internet by checking Internet Explorer, they've beensurfing the Internet using another browser all along.Even more clever? There are some browsers that can fit on a USB thumbdrive, you need only to insert the thumb drive into the computer, openthe web browser and start surfing, and you would never know!

Check Your Site On Different Browsers & OS
Today's post is damn important for people who are maintaining a blog or website. Have you ever thought how does your blog looks on different systems with different browsers and different OS? You have to get that thought or else you are not a site owner. A site owner is one who likes to know how his site looks on each and every system. With that knowledge only he can know if there is any problem with his site or not.Generally having different browsers is common for site owners. But having all the three different Operating Systems(LINUX,MAC,WINDOWS) with different browsers in each OS is a difficult thing. Isn't it? So, for this problem I found out a solution. You can have a view on how your site looks on different pages. You can have screen shots of your sites on different browsers. With the help of this you don't need to waste your time for checking the appearance of your site. Ok, I know you are thinking that, you don't need to listen my words anymore because you are so eager to kn

      Alternative internet browsers
When you decide to use the internet you have a choice of which browser to apply. There are a few common browsers with some giving you more advantages than the others, the most popular is Internet Explorer as this is preinstalled on all computers that use windows as it is also a Microsoft product. You have to ensure that your website is compatible with them all as it can be very awkward if a potential client was to have a look in different browsers and spots any cross browser errors you may have. The most common internet browsers are:Internet ExplorerMozilla FireFoxApple SafariCaminoOperaYou have to do the research on them all to ensure you’re using the best browser based on your requirements. Who’s visiting your Blog? Browsers, Searchers and Subscribers
When visitors arrive on your business blog, you need to make sure that they can explore it in the way that suits them, at least as far as possible, so that they can get the most out of their visit. To do so, you have to try to preempt their requirements and their habits. If we look to group visitors by the way that they are likely to want to explore your blog, then I think that they will fall into browsers, searchers and subscribers. To help them locate information and articles on your blog which will interest them, you should aim to cater for all of these groups and offer them methods to look through your blog which suits their requirements. Browsers As the name indicates, browsers are generally not looking for something specific when they arrive at your blog. Instead, they are simply following links from other blogs (from an article or perhaps via a Blogroll) to see where it takes them and whether anything appears interesting or catches their eye. Once on your blog, browsers will g

Testing your site in different browsers
One of the major problems when designing and programming a website is the way it looks like in the browser. Many people use to design and program the website in a unique browser and forgot o test it in the other ones (or al least, in the most popular ones). In my opinion, every website must be tested at least in Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari. Maybe I can add Opera too, but the other three represents a great percentage of all internet users. The best way to do this is installing all these browsers in your computer. If you are lazy for this, you can use BrowserShots, a very nice online tool that helps you testing your website in different browsers. Be patient, sometimes it’s a bit slow, but a good tool.

Check your web design in TONS of different browsers, totally free and deliciously open source, multi-platform, fully-configurable screenshots.
Alot of web designers have probably heard of Browsercam's pay service that allows you to test your web design in a multitude of different browsers and platforms using a distributed screen-shot service. But I, personally have not subscribed to browser cam simply because I have the ability to preview in the browser variants that I need myself. The primary browsers I'm to code for are firefox 1.5 and above and IE 6 and above. I usually manage to accomplish this using remote desktop and the such. But now, as I totally predicted, there has emerged a challenger, that has managed to distribute the process amongst many different (donated) platforms. This emergence can be found at https://vo4.browsershots.org/, where an ingenious developer named Johann C. Rocholl has taken on the brave competition with Browser cam. The system is not totally complete yet, however it is functional for the purposes it was created for, and is totally usable towards those ends. The main drawback is the 30 minute d

Internet Explorer Loses Ground To Firefox And Safari Web Browsers - And Other Historical Statistics
I do not get millions of unique visitors to my photo web site every month - but I get enough to make the data I get from Google Analytics statistically significant.... Here is the ratio of web browsers used to access my site in July 2006:- Here is the ratio of web browsers used to access my site in July 2007:- From this, you can see that Firefox and Safari are gaining significantly on Internet Explorer (IE). The moral of this story is - just because your web site / blog displays perfectly in IE, does not mean you do not need to test it in Firefox as well, at the very least.... Other Statistics (For The Same Periods) For 'Operating Systems' - 'Apple' has more than doubled from 4% to 9%. For 'Connection Speeds' - 'Dial-Up' has shrunk from 8.4% to 4.9% (But there must still must be some people out there that cannot get broadband!) For 'Screen Resolution' - '800x600' has shrunk from 11.3% to 5.7% (It is at the point now where I would not be overly

      Testing in Other Browsers
(This is a sub-post from Tutorial 11: Starting Your Own Blogger Template)Personally, I don't like this stage. It's annoying that other browsers might show your blog differently than the blogs you're designing it in. But if you want all to have access to your blog and see it as nicely as you've designed it, then you have to go through this process. As for my blog and my demo blogs, I designed them in Firefox and testing it in IE7. I've received comments that people using IE6 have some trouble with the templates, but I didn't test them in IE6, and not about to trouble myself downloading IE6 and debugging the codes. The way I see it, if Firefox and IE7 get it right, then it's IE6 that's got the problem (not my templates) and it's IE6 that has to debug itself. Anyway, isn't that why IE7 is made in the first place?I don't really have a tip for debugging. You just have to have patience and solve the problems one by one. The way I avoid problems is by writing a stricter code so the
