I just got this in my email box so I had to share - because quite frankly for some of us, it is the story of our lives
After starting a new diet I altered my drive to work to avoid passing my favorite bakery. I accidentally drove by the bakery this morning and as I approached, there in the window were a host of goodies.
I felt this was no accident, so I prayed ... “Lord, it
One of my favorite chocolate indulgences comes in the form of these heavenly Espresso Kahlua Brownies; with chocolate, coffee and a hint of Kahlua liquer, there's hardly anyone who could resist these moist brownies! They are soft, cake-like, yet chewy at the same time, just how I like them! Its really easy to make these brownies, and you can experiment with several flavored coffee powders to make
These white chocolate brownies stood out to me the second I saw them in Dorie Greenspan’s book Baking: From My Home to Yours. For one, they look nothing like a typical chocolate brownie and cannot technically be called a blondie. Secondly, there is almost as much ground almonds as there is flour in this recipe, [...]
So a cop confiscated some pot and had it in his car. Then he decided it would be a good idea to bake it into brownies....not a smart move. Kyle and I were making brownies recently. He loves to help me, and apparently the dose of sugar (see the brownie mix around his mouth?) unleashed his tongue:
"You get a small piece, because you're bad," he told me.
"That's not very nice, Kyle," I coached him.
"I know, but I just had to tell you. You're bad, because you always don't promise us."
I can't interpret that one at all so I ask

Its been kind of two months since I knew about Taste & Create event, but every time I always messed up with the dates and never remembered on time. So I made it a point to remember this time and I was so excited thinking about doing this. Taste & Create is a wonderful event hosted by Myamii at For the Love of Food, where you get paired with other participant and you got to cook from their blog. I found this concept so very interesting. When I got a mail from Myamii on my partner, I was absolutely trilled. I was paired with Laurie of Heaven is Chocolate, Cheese and Carbs. I immediately scouted out to her blog and was flabbergasted. I was dismayed thinking what have I got myself into!Laurie says she is inexperienced and has been only experimenting. God, nothing there seems like that.

Awhile back, I came across a blog that was conducting a sort of brownie experiment. She was testing out the brownie recipes featured in a New York Times article. One of the brownies peaked my interest. It was the Supernatural Brownie. Mostly because it was one of the many recipes, I had added to my “to-bake” list. I looked for the recipe and taped it to the fridge. And not to soon forgot about it.Recently my friend Katie posted a recipe for gluten free mint brownies. They looked so dark and fudgy that I had to have a brownie immediately. Off to the kitchen I went in search of all the necessary ingredients. As I turned to preheat the oven, I noticed the recipe for the supernatural brownies, uh-oh. Guilt. I re-read the recipe and the article. Humph, what to do now? Well, I’m
I don’t know about you, but I make brownies from time to time. [with the box mix] If you have ever heard of Simply Divine Brownies you know that their brownies aren’t ordinary. They are, in fact, simply divine. This is a Maine "mother-daughter enterprise" who share part of their profit with charity. [Volunteers of America]A lot of hard work goes into baking the brownies and conjuring up new ideas. They have their classic brownies (which are, for the most part, not your stereotyped brownies). This includes the brownie we all know an love (plain). But there are also brownies classified under the classic style like the “cozy comfort” package which includes 2 brownies shaped like mittens and one big one shaped like a hat.[however, these are also under decorated]. Or how about the Need'
Planning a trip to France? If you want an insider's view of Burgundy, my favorite French wine region, you'll want to give a listen to Burgundy and the French Countryside, a travel podcast from the Amateur Traveler. There are lots of tips to save you money and to make sure you get the true Burgundian experience (for example: go on Sunday, when most national museums are free). Scroll down to the bottom of the page for the link, it's sorta hidden down there.Like music? Want a small tour of some of Europe's most interesting venues? How about a tour to Ponte de Lima, where you can attend the Festival de Ópera & Música Clássica de Ponte de Lima? Or, if you favor the haunting reverberations found in many European monasteries, you might consider attending the Festival de Valloires, "an international chamber music festival set in the atmospheric 18th century Cistercian Abbaye de Valloires in Picardy and its magnificent gardens." Went to the library today.
Among the things I checked out was an Emily the Strange comic. As always it brings to mind and old chlidrens book I have called “Nate the Great and the Halloween Hunt.” Its once of a series of Nate the Great books.
The very first tiem I ever saw Emily I thought she was a character from that Nate the Great book and wondered how she got to be so popular.
In Nate the Great one of the characters names is Rosamund. She looks a lot like Emily (Or I should say Emily looks a lot like her, since Nate the Great was here first), and she has 4 cats.
Here are a couple of pictures I’ve found online.
Rosamund from Nate the Great (you can tell this is scanned from a book)
And here is Emily:
Am I alone in seeing the similarity?
I’ve been looking around trying to find some connection between the two, but from what I’ve read Emily is not inspired by or based on Rosamund. In this sue happy society I’m surprised Ms. Sharmat hasn’t

You know you are really nutty about cooking when your kitchen looks as if all the cabinets have exploded dirty dishes, and there is absolutely no counter space surviving, and yet, you MUST make a batch of brownies...If you have a fairy dishwasher you can lend me, I would appreciate it! Michael and I spent last weekend with a dear friend of ours named Betty. When I graduated from college and got my first "real" job, I rented a room from Betty. Betty is in her early 70's and she's one of the spunkiest women I know... she wears cool jeans, travels the world, and has never met a stranger! Betty knows how to truly live. She has no idea how much I admire her for that! Betty makes "70" look like the best time of your life! While we were visiting, Betty showed me a new cookbook that the local choral society had recently compiled. (I'm easy to please... you show me a new cookbook and I'll be entertained for hours!) Society and church cookbooks are my favorite kind. They are genuine. Cookboo
The first time I sank my teeth into a delicious brownie, I knew this was a bond for life!! I still remember how mych we used to bake brownies back in grad school days. It was our favourite, quick, easy and affordable dessert, and we'd top it with whip cream or strawberry syrup or plain vanilla ice cream and forget the worries and tensions of school!:) To date I cannot resist a warm fudge brownie topped with vanilla ice cream and nuts...what a beauty, and so irrestible!! So I am surprised how I hadn't blogged about my favourite desser until now!! Well, better late than never, so here I share with you my recipe of Raspberry Brownies, and the secret ingredient is Sour Cream. The latter imparts a moist and rich texture to the brownies and the raspberries give it the luscious taste in every bite that makes these beauties almost irrestible!Ingredients1/2 cup wheat flour1/2 cup all-purpose flour1 1/2 tablespoons sunflower oil1/2 cup thick reduced fat sour cream1 tspn soda -bicarb2 eggs ligh
The brownie mixes have been calling to me. Every time I go grocery shopping, even though I’m not a huge dessert fan, the brownie mixes have been singing their chocolately siren song, and I finally gave in and bought a box.
We were heading over to my folk’s place for dinner, and knowing that Papa Lou is a big fan of brownies, I decided we’d share. We were driving over there, me with the still-warm pan of brownies in my lap, and the scent of warm, melty chocolate filling the car.
“Are we going to share the brownies?” asked Tristan, who had been salivating since they were baking.
“That’s right,” I said. “One piece for each of us.”
“Yeah,” agreed Tristan. “One for me, one for Simon, one for Daddy, one for Mummy, one for Granny, and one for Papa Lou.”
“Well,” I said, “I think I should get TWO pieces.”
“Two pieces? No way!” Tristan replied.
“Sure,” chimed i

My goodness, my … brownies! No demasiado.

My 3rd attempt in baking and I did brownies. I haven't had brownies since my primary school days. Honestly, I had no idea how brownies taste like. What I know is that it's always in blocks and some are served with a scoop of ice cream.Anyways, I baked my brownies not knowing if the outcome is right or wrong (crusty top and moist inside). I gave a tray to my husband's colleague as it's impossible for us to finish all. Well, the comments were positive. His family love it. So does mine. Hmm .... then I would have to do it the same way I do it the first time now.Ingredients:120g Unsweeten Chocolate200g Semi-Sweet Chocolate220g Unsalted Butter6 large Eggs400g Sugar1/2 tablespoon Vanilla Essence210g All-Purpose flour1 teaspoon Baking Powder1/2 teaspoon Salt How to do it:Preheat oven to 170C.Melt chocolate in a bowl or pot over another pot of simmering water.Set aside.Whisk eggs and sugar together.Fold in the melted chocolate mixture and vanilla essence. In another bowl, mix flour, baking

These brownies are just what they advertise to be: glorious fudgy goodness in cake form. And though I'm not big on frosting, this hint of cream cheese sprinkled with cashews is wonderful.Though now that I get a good look at that picture I'm suspicious that I ran out of cashews and used almonds as a substitute. I can't decide if Myriam is a genius or pure evil. (meant nicely, of course.) As I love chocolate, and I love brownies, I thought her BrownieBabe concept was fantastic (the genius part). Until the roundups started... and I spent all that time drooling over brownies and blondies... and after I printed more recipes than I could count, and daydreamed about thousands of calories... I realized...
You know how one of my goals on my huge list, is 'bake once a month'? Well, I thought that I'd start with brownies for this month. Who doesn't love brownies? Well anyway, they came out great, and I added huge chunks of quality milk chocolate into the batter to make it really rich and gooey. And then I ate three huge chunks, feeling very proud of myself. And then I suffered. All day long. It was such a huge surge of sugar and chocolate to my system, you really should only eat small amounts. This I know now. I threw out all the rest of those damn brownies.

Is anyone other than Ree, the Pioneer Woman herself, allowed to make such bold claims? I can't, unfortunately, claim that this is an old family recipe or that I made it up or something that I've made for drooling crowds of chocolate fanatics who all proclaim me a goddess or a better cook than their mother but it is a discovery that I must share. I cannot keep such wonderment to myself.Last night my friend Karen came over while our husbands went with some other guys to take in a bit of blood and guts and gore in the way of a film. We decided to forego an evening of slaughter and disembodied entrails, opting instead to stay at home and stir up something probably equally as evil and disruptive to the digestive system but much less likely to make for a good feature film: The World's Most Evil Brownies on the Face of the Planet! (Say this as if you are plotting to take over the world... it's much more fun to bake when you think of it on a cataclysmic scale.)My baking buddy, Karen,
Today is my 40th birthday. When I was in high school, I was best friends with a girl whose parents had had her 'Later in life'. They were in their late 50's to early 60's when I knew her. Her sister was 10 yrs old than her, her brothers even older. It's occurring to me that I"m going to be one of those "later in life" parents. Only now it doesn't feel so "later in life". It's weird how one's perception changes with time, huh? LOLWe've spent the day by baking brownies for mommy's birthday (on the insistance of my daughter, because we didn't have a cake mix), going to the DMV and ya know, just hanging out with the newest duckling. I refer to my kids as ducklings, because whenever we go somewhere, I'm always counting them to make sure we have everyone lol Maybe that's where the term "getting your ducks in a row" comes from?I'm gonna go get a brownie - they just came out of the oven... can you smell them? Yummmmmmmmmy, I can.Oh, and btw - my brother (the errant one) a

1. Make chocolate brownie mix. If you don't have a tried and tested recipe of your own, pinch somebody elses. I used this one from the BBC.
2. Add as much chilli as you dare. I used a mix of piri-piri powder (lethal stuff) and crushed dried piri-piri peppers.
3. Bake
4. Eat
5. Burn
Ever since I started baking, I have used only bananas as a substitute for eggs. Bananas definitely give the moist texture for cakes and breads, but the drawback is the flavor of bananas is dominant in those baked goods. So whatever changes you make otherwise in the recipe, the end ...
