      Blah, blah blah volleyball...
Hey, where''d the week go? It was here somewhere just a minute ago. Anyway, I owe lots of you thanks for your thoughtful responses about the sports team question I had. Busy Girl tried out for club (travel) volleyball a couple of weeks ago. It's very competitive, so we had no idea how things would turn out, especially since she's not played club before (the season she just finished was the

      Immigration, National Security…"Blah Blah Blah"
Montanans have themselves a fine Governor. The Department of Homeland Security is trying to force states to issues "Real ID-compliant" drivers licenses. The Real ID Act of 2005 requires licenses to hold electronically encoded information, along with more complicated background checks for license applicants. Background from the NY Times: The federal government issued national standards on Friday that states would have to meet in order for driver’s licenses they issue to qualify as identification at airports and federal buildings, setting the stage for a confrontation with states that have voted not to cooperate….In Washington and elsewhere, state lawmakers have complained that the requirements add up to a national identification card, that it is too costly, puts privacy at risk and

One Love for the mothers cry... One love blah blah blah (Can't remember the rest)
Bashy with some little boysThis isn't the reconstruction of Mercston's underage shenanigans it's actually a shot from Bashy's Black Boys Remix. The Remix which will feature over 20 people and will run at over 22minutes long (not too long then). Along with the original UK Hiphop and Grime mc's verses that some of you may already have heard, Skinny man, No Lay and Skepta have wrote exclusive new verses for the track especially for the video.Skepta & Bashy doing a duet of Blue's - One LoveThe video will be dropping in early January on most video channels (although I'm not too sure what station will let a whole 22minute video run unless it's Michael Jackson - will the video have an edit?). Along with that apparently they will also be releasing a special edition Black Boys DVD box set released on 11th February 2008 featuring the full length video, exclusive pics, behind the scene's footage, freestyles, all the remix's and much, much more (apparently).

      Blah blah blah
This post is just going to be like so many of my other recent posts, a bland retelling of everything that is happening or not happening around here. Because most of it is so fatiguingly and tediously boring I'll try to spice it up with a few funnies strewn throughout. I'll let you judge if I'm even remotely successful.Boring thing #1. Today I scooped doggy poopy. Two weeks because-of-us-feeling-like-doggy-poopy worth of doggy poopy. Two weeks worth of doggy poopy is a lot of doggy poopy, just in case you were wondering. You never have to wonder again. The mystery has been unveiled. The privileged information no longer enshrouded in a dark and foreboding cloak of secrecy. It really is a lot of poopy. You have it on good authority.Boring thing #2. I cut back my plants in anticipation of winter's interminable icy blasts of plant killing anger, what some like to call the stuff of "winter wonderlands." While doing so I reached to grab one of said plants and instead landed my

      Meme Blah Blah Blah
This post brought to you by Freddie and Newfie, who both tagged me with a meme.First "The Rules"1. Post the rules for the meme at the beginning of your post. (Ok fine. Done)2. This meme consists of the blogger listing eight random facts/habits about themselves. (Screw that. This meme now consists of eight behaviors that are generally frowned upon during funerals based on my experience during the past week.)******************************************#1 - The "My Grandma Just Died" sympathy card is a great way of finagling your way out of a speeding ticket but people! please make yourself familiar with its limits! Don't play the "My Grandma Just Died" sympathy card at the actual funeral lest you be trumped by the "My Wife Just Died", "My Mom Just Died" or the "My Sister Just Died" sympathy cards which, by the way, beat the snot our of your sympathy card like a royal flush beats a pair of twos.#2 - There is no such thing as a bereavement high-five. Dan's Blah Blah Blog
Dan's Blah Blah Blog garnered mostly positive reviews, if not a lot of overwhelmingly enthusiastic endorsements. The reviewers were mostly in agreement that Dan has a friendly, easy-going writing style, but several of them mentioned that it seemed like he was trying too hard to be funny. The reviewers were also turned off by the length of posts and the need to click an extra link to read the full post. Several remarked on the virtually unprecendent number of comments Dan gets on each post. As one reviewer wrote, "I didn't know there were 300+ people on the internet, let alone 300+ people that would comment on one blog. Is he as funny as his readership indicates? Probably not, but Jerry Seinfeld doesn't deserve 300+ comments per post either." Dan's infrequent and somewhat irregular posting schedule also hurt him a little. Overall, the sentiment seemed to be that Dan's Blah Blah blog was well-written and enjoyable, but not really remarkable. More than half said they would

Birthdays, Banning, and Blah Blah Blah
I will begin with my birthday first..of course. :) You see, yesterday I turned 29 (for the fourth year in a row according to my kids) years old. Okay so I'm really 32 but my kids are smart enough to not remind me. lol. Anyway- my birthday became important to me three years ago because of my cancer diagnosis. When the doctor gave me the news some of the first things that went through my head were (besides the obvious ones about my kids)- Am I going to even make it to Christmas? Am I going to see my 30th birthday? I had waited so long to finally turn 30 and in an instant I thought it was being taken from me along with everything I held dear.Luckily we found out that I would definately make it to my 30th (although I'm afraid my adrenal glands weren't there to celebrate) and hopefully many more. Every year that I celebrate another birthday is another year I'm alive to make memories with my husband and children. I no longer care about what I do or don't get, who remembers (except the h

Blogger Code of Blah Blah Blah
I recently ran across something called a "Blogger Code of Ethics" on the web somewhere. What a great idea! It's about time somebody got us unruly bloggers in line. I agree with this Code 100%. Or maybe 74.3%. Still, I mostly agree with it. I've republished it below with a few comments of my own.I will tell the truth. Man, wouldn't it be great if all bloggers told the truth? I strive to include some truth in almost every one of my posts. Lies are important too, of course.I will write deliberately and with accuracy. Or hire a lot of monkeys.I will acknowledge and correct mistakes promptly. I always do this. I think. I'll have to come back to this one.I will preserve the original post, using notations to show where I have made changes so as to maintain the integrity of my publishing. This one is crap.I will never delete a post. Even if the original writer of this post tells me to. I have my principles, after all.I will not delete comments unless they are spam or off-to

For those paying attention, you'll see a new item in the sidebar: "The Blah Blah Book Club." And, while Amazon might pay me money if you click over and buy something, that is not really its primary purpose. It is intended to keep everyone in the loop as I struggle to finish reading the entire list of the Modern Library's 100 best novels of the 20th Century. It's also to remind me to finish, since I've now missed my original deadline by about 8 months. I've only finished 30 of the books; I've started more than that but have lost interest. I get too distracted with new books and non-reading activities. So, if you want to join me in the reading, go ahead. Maybe I'll post blog items so that we can talk about the books. If I ever get back to reading them . . .
