The problem is not that the media is making the liberals look good. The problem is that the republican commentators are making themselves look very bad.John Stewart... who doesn't report the news, only the comedy of errors shows the problemAs always... your contributions help support a good candidate who (at least in my opinion) understands what the average American is going through.
I watched last Saturday’s “forum on faith” at the Saddleback Church in California, hosted Rev. Rick Warren, and it was pretty obvious that McCain, who was questioned after Obama had an unfair advantage.
McCain got some notice that Obama did not.
NBC political reporter Andrea Mitchell reported Sunday that Obama aides thought McCain “may have had [...]
I grow weary of the three little monkeys, and short of bananas after a few days, but it’s only to be expected after experiencing the monkeys at "Longleat Safari park." “Peanut butter mun keys! Many Malaysians were under the impression that it was wrong to take potshots during a debate. What Shabery Cheek did was not personal attack on Anwar's character, it was on past policies and practices when Anwar was one of the policymakers in government. Not exactly a wrong thing to do in a debate.

After reading a recent Chicago Tribune article regarding Avvo’s (www.Avvo.com) online lawyer rating system, I decided to check out the site for myself.
At first glance, the site looks interesting, useful and credible. The same as many other online consumer, ratings, networking and other business related sites. I enjoy these sites, use them and believe that [...]
Germany goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has slammed Italian referee Roberto Rosetti's Euro 2008 final performance, describing him as 'biased'. 'What was disappointing in my opinion was the performance of the referee, who didn't really fancy us Germans - and this is the third time I was unlucky with referees in European cup finals,' said LehmanThis allegation really amazed me as I thought the referee was
According to the EEOC, racially biased decision-making and treatment may not always conscious. As a result, Title VII (Civil Rights Act) covers not only decisions driven by racial animosity, but also decisions infected by stereotyped thinking or other forms of less conscious bias. For example, although a “personality conflict” can be a legitimate, nondiscriminatory reason for an employment deci

Theoretically, all numbers of Roulette have equally odds to outcome in the spinning result. But in actual fact, some numbers come out more often than others and if you are able to identify them, you can increase your winning probability and make a net profit from the game.

A biased switch is one containing a spring that returns the actuator to a certain position. The "on-off" notation can be modified by placing parentheses around all positions other than the resting position. For example, an (on)-off-(on) switch can be switched on by moving the actuator in either direction away from the centre, but returns to the central off position when the actuator is r
Well, one should never count on "The Worldwide Sports Leader" for fair and balanced coverage (sorry, Fox News) unless you play in Boston, New York or Chicago if you're into baseball.Look at the highlighted portion of the graphic. Do we have a problem here? If I remember correctly, didn't the O's win yesterday? Didn't Jay Payton hit the game-winning grand-slam? I would say Manny Ramirez didn't exac
I know i'm really late on bashing ABC right now, but i'm not here to bash ABC, but talk about the possibility that ABC really was biased against Obama and used this debate to smear him. NO i'm not drinking the kool-aid so fast that I'm joining the boycott of ABC and the advertisers of the debate, but I read an interesting article today in regards to the woman who asked Obama if he "believes in the flag". I was reading an article on talkingpointsmemo.com, that gave some interesting information about the voter asking that question. This woman was interviewed by the NY Times, and when asked who she would vote for this is what Nash McCabe(the voter who posed the question) had to say. "How can I vote for a president who won't wear a flag pin?" Out of ALL the voters in Pennslyvania ABC just
The Urban Institute released a report on March 27, 2008, stating that Teach For America teachers are more successful getting students to pass standardized exams than more experienced veterans. The authors of the report write:

Media Matters for America began as a purported "scientific" organization who sought to exposed conservative bias in the media. It was cited as a legitimate source by University professors and even liberal journalists. Nevertheless, people on the Right always knew that Media Matters was nothing other than a front group for the most vile people on the Left.
Then the word got out that Hillary...

Ron Ng Biased Liking Mature Girls, Elanne Kong Sadly Takes a Lemon

This morning on AlmostFit on the topic of my battles with stress this month, I received this comment from MizFit [bold formatting added]:
"man it is STILL hard for me to avoid stress eating (aside: why does it seem as though men struggle less with this?) so I have no mind-blowing tips."
[By the way, if you haven't checked out Mizfit's site, you really should. Good stuff.]
This raises a really interesting question: Does gender play a role in using eating as a stress reliever? With all of Men are from Mars psychology commentary it seems that our emotional make-ups generally differ along gender lines in some ways (please don't misinterpret this as some sort of criticism or wholesale stereotyping - everyone is of course unique, and I greatly, greatly respect and enjoy that fact), but does gend
Fox News, "fair and balanced." The fact that they feel it necessary to say that makes me question just how fair and balanced they are. I think their logic is, "People think we're unfair, unbalanced, so let's tell them they're wrong." The Daily Show usually seems totally unbiased, because they seem to make fun of all sides equally. Or do they?Sometimes I find myself wondering why Jon Stewart went one way instead of another. Those times are rare, but when they happen, I worry that all the people who trust the Fake News will get swayed one direction not out of logical argument, but simply because of faith and belief in what Jon Stewart says.I hope he can't be bought.

Herbalism Guide.First off all, a bit of background to this guide. This is the first guide that I have written for WoW Professions Guides, I not pretend to be the most knowledgeable of players, and i am defiantly not one for playing for massive swathes of time you see. However, I do tend to persist at things until I have a good understanding of how things work in wow games. My main character is a level 60 Tauren Shaman , I dropped my Skinning profession (very easy to level) and picked up Herbalism (good for making money), for one reason - cash. Although all server economies vary alot (and I do mean a lot to make money in wow), high level herbs sell a lot for enough to make it worth spending an hour picking them and selling product on the auction house. At the top end, a stack of herbs might
Here’s one of my favorite journal articles from the past year - an elegant study by Natalie Andrew and Robert Insall published in Nature Cell Biology: Chemotaxis in shallow gradients is mediated independently of PtdIns 3-kinase by biased choices between random protrusions. From the introduction:
We have made detailed, quantitative observations of Dictyostelium cells chemotaxing in shallow gradients, which contradict current models in several ways (see Supplementary Information, Fig. S1): first, new pseudopods are made in spatially restricted sites by splitting of the leading edge; second, the timing and direction of these new pseudopods are random, so they cannot correct the cell’s direction; and third, the survival and retraction of pseudopods are spatially controlled, suggesting an alternative mechanism of chemotaxis.
This model is very similar to the mechanism of growth cone guidance, where random protrusions are constantly exploring the cell’s surroundings, &lsqu
Fox News? Biased? Say it ain't so! But against a mainstream Republican? That's new. From The Hill: Thompson charges Fox News is biased against his campaignFormer Sen. Fred Thompson (R-Tenn.) suggested on Sunday that Fox News is biased against his campaign, charging that the network highlights commentators who have been critical of his run for the presidency. In an interview on "Fox News Sunday," host Chris Wallace pressed Thompson on how some conservatives have lambasted Thompson's campaign and showed clips of Fox conservative commentators Charles Krauthammer and Fred Barnes criticizing the former senator. Thompson said, "This has been a constant mantra of Fox, to tell you the truth." He noted that other conservatives have praised his bid for the GOP nomination and took issue with a Fox promo that focused on polling in New Hampshire, where Thompson is registering in the single digits. He said he is running second in national polls and has been leading or tied for the lead in
Investors Business Daily article link Even Harvard Finds The Media BiasedBy INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY Journalism: The debate is over. A consensus has been reached. On global warming? No, on how Democrats are favored on television, radio and in the newspapers.Just like so many reports before it, a joint survey by the Project for Excellence in Journalism and Harvard's Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy hardly a bastion of conservative orthodoxy found that in covering the current presidential race, the media are sympathetic to Democrats and hostile to Republicans.Democrats are not only favored in the tone of the coverage. They get more coverage period. This is particularly evident on morning news shows, which "produced almost twice as many stories (51% to 27%) focused on Democratic candidates than on Republicans."The most flagrant bias, however, was found in newspapers. In reviewing front-page coverage in 11 newspapers, the study found the t

This is what the entire STBB crew looks like when you gather them up in one place (a couple subs thrown in, but essentially, it's us...)!This picture is relatively fresh...it was taken at the Gaithersburg (MD) Holiday Inn on Sunday evening for a US Navy reunion. I rushed in about five minutes before downbeat totally unaware that pics were even going to HAPPEN, so everyone's yelling, "Get out of the way! Pictures! Move!"Then I figured out that they wanted me in the picture. (I'm a bit dim on Sunday evenings.)It was a fun gig, and of course since I didn't have to play an instrument and keep my eyes glued to a sheet of music, I got to see stuff other people didn't. Examples? Hell yeah!First and foremost, I must say that sometimes senior citizens put folks my age to shame. There was one old duffer out there (probably in his '80s) who was really cutting a rug. He didn't limit himself to dances from "his day" either...he could do the electric slide and all that with the best of
Those of you who have read my blog for any length of time know that I use fool.com on a regular basis as a source of information, it wasn’t until the I was writing my Coverd Call article that I realized just how one sided they are.
My biggest gripe with most main stream investment publications is their “one size fits all” or “one strategy fits all” recommendations about investments understates, if not completely ignores, the importances of ALL investors education.
Here is what they said.
The main problem with the covered call strategy is that it flies in the face of why you own stocks in the first place. While dividend income can be an important factor in choosing a stock for the long run, a big part of how stocks add value to your portfolio over time is through price appreciation.
This is true for most investors, but it promotes a very dangerous idea. What is that dangerous idea you ask? It’s the idea that people should ALWAYS buy, hold, and p

Review"It is written with exemplary clarity and charm..." Nature Book DescriptionAimed primarily at a general readership and college students of biology, this book focuses on the question of how embryonic development changes in the course of evolution, thus giving rise to new types of creatures. It takes the view that biases in the ways that embryos can be altered are as important as natural selection in determining the directions that evolution has taken, including the one that led to the origin of humans.RAPIDSHARE DOWNLOAD
Bias exists everywhere, on the news, in magazines, in your doctor’s office -- and even in your own head. Cognitive bias is a term that describes your mind’s preconceived notions about reality, and their effect on the way you think and act. This becomes very clear when you apply it to nutrition and diet, for instance how many people accept the incorrect notions that all dietary fat is bad, and pasteurized milk is good.We are all so engrained with our own past experiences that it may be nearly impossible for anyone to make truly neutral decisions. Don’t believe me? Check out this sampling of widely accepted cognitive biases (and click the link below for the full list of 26):Bandwagon Effect: The tendency to do (or believe) things because many other people do (or believe) the same. Endowment Effect: The tendency for people to value something more as soon as they own it.Status Quo Bias: The tendency for people to like things to stay relatively the same.Mere Exposure Effect: The tenden
1. Why would confusing Mexicans for Iraqis be racist in the first place?
2. Is this reviewer comparing Mexico to Iraq under Saddam Hussein?
OUR REVIEW
by Dave White
Who's in It: Larry the Cable Guy, Bill Engvall, DJ Qualls, Danny Trejo, Marisol Nichols
The Basics: Dumb Army Reservist Larry the Cable Guy and his dumber friends fall out of a plane headed for Iraq and land in Mexico. And even when they encounter actual Mexicans, they still think they're in Iraq. (It's not that they're racist, necessarily, just really, really idiotic.) Disappointed they have no war to fight, they end up battling some bad banditos and saving a village anyway.
What's the Deal? I will come clean about thinking Larry the Cable Guy is pretty funny. I do. It's not the sophisticated film critic stance, I know. It's kind of like admitting that you watch Cops (OK, yes, I do that, too.) But I laughed out loud a lot when I had to see Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector, and I laughed out loud a lot at th
When Killers Meet Armed ResistanceUnreported Stories You Don't Often Hear AboutA Hat Tip To Classically Liberal(From 2002) IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Last week, a disgruntled student at Appalachian School of Law in Grundy, Va., went on a shooting spree. Peter Odighizuwa tragically shot six people, killing Dean Anthony Sutin, Associate Professor Thomas Blackwell, and student Angela Dales. Most news reports pointed out that the situation ended when several students "confronted," "tackled," or "intervened." However, Tracy Bridges, Ted Besen, Todd Ross, and Mikael Gross did not merely "confront" Odighizuwa. Bridges and Gross separately ran to their cars to get their handguns once the shooting began.Bridges approached Odighizuwa with Besen's and Ross' aid. Gross was close behind. According to Bridges, "I aimed my gun at him, and Peter tossed his gun down." Bridges, Besen, and Gross had previously received police or military training.Unfortunately, the media did not point out that the "intervening

Clients often ask me what I think of this or that bar, what sort of boys go there and whether or not they're any good, what they look like, etc. Everyone has an opinion and I have mine; but, because I want my clients to trust me I often leave out my own particular biases and focus on what the client is looking for. I don't have to be so circumspect on my own blog.
But first, cards on the table:
For the sake of argument, let's say that the main stream media is not liberally biased, but is middle of the road as they claim. Then how is exempting American Samoa from the minimum wage increase middle of the road? Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said two weeks ago when the exemption was noted: "I have asked the education and labor committee as they go forward with the legislation to make sure that all of the territories have to comply with U.S. law on the minimum wage," Yesterday according to the Washington Times (good luck finding it elsewhere): "The Democrat-controlled Senate took up a bill yesterday that would raise the minimum wage across the United States and its territories but exempt American Samoa, where tuna canneries pay workers $3.26 an hour" It's odd that something this fishy (pun intended) has not raised the interest of the msm as it would were it the other side of the aisle slipping in this loophole. Raising the minimum wage wouldnâ
I don't mind biased sports reporting. In fact, I think that one cannot be completly independant when doing sports reports and commentary. Tony Grieg, dispite being a South African for a long time, will ALWAYS say that Australia are the best cricket team ever, but let's face it, they are.The rugby commentary is VASTLY different if you listen to Kobus Wiese on the Afrikaans channel and the English commentary from Sky.But I thought that this article goes a little far....Rucking, or the coarse art of dealing to an opponent lying in the way of theball on the ground, has long been almost definitive of New Zealand rugby but anew directive to referees has outlawed the practice of stud-raking. Sorry, what?? Dan Retief has been smoking his little socks again. When the Springboks have a reputation of the dirtiest players in the world, where do you think it happens? Has New Zealand "defined" rucking? Oh pleeeeez. The rest of the article os fun to read as well as the scrum is offcially gay now. Cr
