Jose Reyes’s three-for-three with three walks evening was nearly spoiled by his fielding blunder in the ninth inning.Closer Billy Wagner, not having given up a run for the entire month of April, saw pinch hitter Ryan Doumit’s ground ball head towards the shortstop hole. Normally, Wags would not have to worry about this one, as Reyes typically gobbles these up and easily throws the runner out. However, this was not the case on Tuesday evening at Shea. Reyes’s throw was low and unable to be scooped by Carlos Delgado.Pinch runner Brian Bixler then advanced to second on a wild pitch, moved to third on a ground out and scored on a Freddy Sanchez single. Just like that, Wagner accrued his first blown save without giving up an earned run.Wagner was able to recover and toss a scoreless tenth

In recent months some of Bush's closest aides -- including several who came to Washington with him nearly seven years ago -- have left or announced they would leave soon. Among them have been his longtime political advisor Karl Rove; Dan Bartlett, the White House counselor; Atty. Gen. Alberto R. Gonzales; and Karen Hughes, who preceded Bartlett as counselor and held several other key posts. Most recently Hughes had been the State Department's undersecretary for public diplomacy and public affairs.Seems the turn-over is high kinda like your local Mickey Dee's, can't image why?Domestic security advisor is latest Bush aide to resign - Los Angeles TimesTags: Leaving, Bush
Inside Google reports that Adam Bosworth has left the Googleplex.Bosworth, a perennial overachiever at Microsoft and BEA Systems, apparently got sick of the perpetual pre-beta status of Google Health and has walked. After more than three years with nothing but static screen shots and presentations of people making presentations about the embryonic product, who can blame him?Microsoft has actually put a stake in the ground in regard to eHealth (see my previous entry Microsoft's Cure for the Uncommon Interface), and I would like to think that the gradual integration and cross-pollination of properties under the Yahoo! umbrella will reach Yahoo! Health eventually. Consequently, I am going to go out on a limb and predict some minor stock valuation fallout from this and a lot of noise about how Google is losing it's mojo.I'm of two minds on this last point:Google's mojo is overrated, in my opinion. Google shareholders and market pundits have grossly unrealistic expectations about the
You may be contented driving your Cadillac or two-door sedan and pleased that everything seems to go well for some time now. Nevertheless, does the idea of permanent peace for your car really sit well with you? Sooner or later, your car will experience breakdown due to heavy use or simply overtime and how would you expect to be rescued from a staggering bill on the repair shop? Car warranty is your salvage ticket when something goes wrong with your car in the future. It doesn't only boost your equanimity under pressure of car damage but it also provides safety and protection to your vehicle. General Motors paved the way to the idea of car warranty in the industry when it offered a three-year coverage bumper-to-bumper warranty when it eliminated its long-term power train warranty. Following the company's example, Ford and Chrysler modified their offer by putting forward power train protection for 6 years or 100,000 miles for Ford and 7 years or 70,000 miles for Chrysler. Choosing not
Leaving so soon, are we? Turns out Fujitsu Siemens Computers is ditching the PDA / PNA market after 2007, which means that those bulky, albeit fashionable Loox handhelds will soon be available only in closeout bins and on your favorite auction site -- and just think, things were lookin' so bright just last year. According to a statement by FSC spokesperson Amy Flécher, the decision to cut the proverbial cord was simply 'due to the usual examination of the portfolios,' and the firm apparently noticed that 'the traditional handheld segment (PDA) [had been shrinking] for years.' Essentially, the company felt that smartphones would eventually swallow the 'traditional handhelds' of the world, and considering that cranking out smartphones 'is not its business at all,' the choice seems logical.(Via Engadget.)
Nigerian striker Elijah Junior won a 90th minute penalty and converted it to help Brothers Union snatch one point from Sheikh Russel in yesterday's Dhaka derby but the 1-1 draw at the Bangabandhu National Stadium dented both sides' title hopes in the B. League.Just when Sheikh Russel looked like holding on to Touati Younes's first half goal and seal three points, the Oranges were awarded a penalty by referee Mansoor Azad after substitute defender Pradip Barua tripped Junior inside the box.The Nigerian made no mistake to hammer the ball into the back of the net from the spot for his 14th goal, which placed him atop the scorers' list, just above Mohammedan's 13-goal Paul.Despite the draw, Russel moved to the top with 26 points after 15 games but remained under the threat of being removed by at least two teams - Abahani and Muktijoddha - by the end of this week.Syed Nayeemuddin's side on the other hand, wasted a golden comeback chance as they improved their collection to 23 points a
A radio station Bobby Brown's $19,000 bail and he walked out of jail today after spending three nights behind bars for failure to pay child support.
The King of R&B agreed to appear on the radio station for a week in exchange for the bail money. Bobby's attorney Phaedra Parks in Atlanta discussed the child support agreement:
"Although this agreement was put in place when he was Bobby Brown the star, this agreement is being enforced when he is not always able to find work," Parks told The Associated Press. "He hasn't made an album in quite some years."
Through the Grand Comics Database, I learned that the late Jerry Bails put together a whole index site of Who's Who in American Comic Books. It's simply marvelous, with whole pages featuring alphabetical lists of writers, artists, colorists, editors, publishers, etc. We owe Bails many thanks for working on this project.
A little late, but, as the news has reported, Dave Cockrum and Jerry Bails, artist of the X-Men and founding father of contemporary fandom, respectively, have passed away. Here's an article about Cockrum, and another one about Bails. Both of them will be very missed.
Update: Michelle Malkin also misses Cockrum, and Variety has some more news about Bails too.
They were the ones that wanted to meet with Harper, and now they're saying that they don't want to meet anymore. Apparently it's a snub for Canada actually having the audacity to take a firm stance against China's human rights violations.China's decision comes amid a cooling in the bilateral relationship as Canada takes an increasingly harder line on China's human rights record.Over the past few months, the Harper government has delivered a number of controversial messages to the Chinese, among them a decision by the Prime Minister's parliamentary secretary, Jason Kenney, to meet with the Dalai Lama, and a delay in talks over a strategic partnership to which the two countries have agreed. Canada has also complained of Chinese espionage and delayed a meeting between Foreign Affairs Minister Peter MacKay and the Chinese ambassador.I'm waiting for all those left-wing human rights groups to start cheering Harper on for having the guts to piss off the most populous nation on Earth.
In an interesting tidbit of news, the San Antonio Express-News has stated that it will no longer participate in voting for the top 25 in college football and basketball. They claim that they don't like how the Associated Press 'mistreated' a New Orleans reporter who filed a football poll this year, believing that the Oklahoma Sooners lost a game that they in fact won. Bloomberg reports parts maker Delphi's exit from bankruptcy has hit a snag. Appaloosa Management, one of the six investors working to get the former GM parts division out of Chapter 11, backed out of the deal. In the termination notice, Appaloosa claimed Delphi didn't meet the conditions of the $2.55b deal. Oh, and they asked for a $82.5m "breakup fee." It's not an entirely unexpected development; Appaloose had not been happy with GM's expanded role in the Delphi's exit strategy. They felt the automaker would have too much power as a result. When GM offered even more money to help cover Delphi's $3.8b pension fund shortfall, it was the proverbial straw/camel thing. Appaloosa indicated that they're still open to investing, but "in a capacity diffe
