He told the activists that his name was "Ken Tobias" and said that he was deeply concerned by the impact of the aviation industry on climate change and that he wanted to help to organise protests. Adam Aviation Nears Milestone FAA Approval!
I follow Adam Aircraft with particular interest because their planes are built not too far from here in Colorado and also because George Adam is a life insurance client of mine from a time when we had to fight the insurance companies to accept him at preferred rates even though his, at the time A500, was still experimental. With the A500 now certified with the FAA and the A700 on something of a fast track for certification, it is safe to say that Adam Aircraft is over that experimental stigma and hump. Life insurance companies have long had a hang up about experimental and homebuilt aircraft often rating their owners as if they were bush pilots. While the homebuilt planes have not made much gain, factory built aircraft, even though not yet certified, have been getting a little fairer treatment as long as they have shown consistent reliability and are working diligently toward certification. It seems from an underwriting standpoint that insurance companies are finally recognizing that c

      Is This Really Private Aviation?
A little more than 6 years after 9/11, private pilots can once again land at Reagan Washington National airport…………sort of. The first landing since private aviation was banned into the airport happened today. The pilot was treated to a free wash for his plane as he taxied between two fire trucks that were creating a water arch. But, before you load your suitcase and head off to Reagan, you may want to consider some of the restrictions. It probably won’t come as any surprise that there’s gonna be some rules. Background checks for all pilots and crew are mandatory. You also have to have an armed security guard, or in some cases an actual federal sky marshall on board. I guess that’s so if you come too close to someplace you shouldn’t, they can just shoot you and end the threat. No thanks guys. Think I’ll just keep the plane out west and not take chances with an overly zealous sky marshall. Bottom line. There are some great price

These are necessary to protect one from any unforeseen accidents or mishaps, ensuring that your medical bills be taken care of should anything happen. But what if something unfortunate happens in the air where serious injuries happen and lives are lost? I believe we have read stories of plane crashes and air accidents in the local media. As much as no one likes to hear about these stories, many of these misfortunes are caused by technical defects, manufacturing errors, pilot errors, negligence, weather conditions and more. There are aviation law firms who specialize in these complex issues of helping victims and their families in their skilled litigation. The aviation attorney will evaluate the case submitted and proceed with a full investigation before moving on to recover full compensation for the victims and families of air accidents. when an aviation attorney is needed
Many years ago, there was a big story on the Silkair plane crash which led to the fatalies of many passengers. It was a tragic incident and sadly, my friend's neighbour was one of them. The victim was coming home from a vacation when the crash happened. It was hard for the family and close friends to accept this sudden loss of a loved one but only time could heal the pain and sad memories.Though I believe the family may have sought an aviation attorney to handle the law suit against the airlines, it makes me wonder if any claim can comfort their loss. But it is good to know that there are aviation law firms who specialize in handling such aviation accidents including helicopter accidents, airplane fatalities and even charter accidents. Appointing an experienced attorney can mean greater success in your law suit which involves complexities in litigation and thorough investigation processes.

      Child Aviation Restraint System (CARES)
CARES (“Child Aviation Restraint System”) is an innovative belt-and-buckle child airplane restraint that attaches directly to the airplane seat belt and makes an airplane seat safe for kids 22–44 lbs. These youngsters are old enough to be in their own seats, but are too small for the seat belt alone to protect them. Their bodies cannot withstand the jolts that are common in routine transportation, much less emergency situations, and they flail forward or slide beneath the seat belt if they are not held securely in place. Compared to the dreaded and insufficient lap strap, this is a appealing harness solution for toddlers but this parent can’t get beyond the sticker shock ($75.00 U.S.D.). Not to understate the simplicity of the design but that’s a lot of money for a couple extra straps - cut the price-point in half and you would find it hard to keep these in stock. Infrastructure seen halting India's aviation boom
India may be among the most happening places in the global aviation field, but its poor airport infrastructure is a major cause of concern and even threatens to retard the robust growth in the sector, international experts say. With some 400 new aircraft set to join the fleet of Indian carriers at an estimated cost of $80 billion and potential annual passenger traffic set to soar to 180 million over the next few years from the present 50 million, experts say the whole system can crumble if attention is not paid to improving airport infrastructure. "India is going through a huge change in the aviation market. But it also has a challenging path ahead," said Jaan Albrecht, chief executive of Star Alliance, the world's largest airline alliance with 17 carriers as members. "For the kind of investment airlines in India are putting into buying aircraft, simulators and other associated areas, the government must ensure this money is matched by the airport infrastructure," Albrecht

I go to the front desk and ask the guy to pull the plane out front, and for a gpu."Yes sir, your plane is already pulled out front and fuelled, and I'll get a gpu for you" says the guy."We haven't ordered fuel yet, but I'll let you know how much we need" Says I.He gives me a funny look and shows me a piece of paper."But I have a fuel slip for 541 gallons here, for the Canadian plane"I start to sweat a little, even in the air-conditioned building."With what we had remaining in the tanks, that would give us full fuel, and make us very overweight for this flight. I say again, we have not ordered fuel"Another line guy, a young fellow with wide-set eyes, comes up and interjects himself into the conversation."Yeah you did. I got a call at 6am this morning from the guy in the Canadian plane, asking for a pullout at 1pm and for a top-off of fuel"

Jet-Sahara deal: heralding new phase in Indian civil aviation industry
India’s leading private airline Jet Airways finally announced a takeover of the much smaller Air Sahara at a cost of Rs. 1450 crore ($346 million) last week, ending prolonged speculation over the deal which had been announced originally in January 2006. With this merger, the process of consolidation has begun in the country’s civil aviation industry. It will emerge as the largest player in the Indian skies. The private sector Jet-Sahara combine will end the dominating role of the public sector with the new corporate commanding as much as 32 percent of the domestic market space. The scene may change after a few years with the proposed merger of Air India and Indian Airlines, but Jet-Sahara will be the leader for some time to come. The merger is not likely to impact domestic fares for the time being, in view of the stiff competition between the numerous players in the civil aviation sector. This is despite the fact that Jet-Sahara along with the public sector Indian Airlines

I was returning on the Monday morning, along with a company mechanic and another pilot, my friend and roommate Daryl.Northern Dene Airways had an agreement with Air Sask, and we were allowed to fly non-rev on their Jetstream 31's to/from Stony Rapids. Added to that, on hot summer days the Jetstream was frequently weight-restricted on the northern runs due to the short runways.Anyhoo, it was Monday morning and the three of us were heading back to Stony Rapids. A Nevada-based aviation company is exploring a creative way to utilize gravity as a power source to produce an aircraft concept which might one day take people and cargo great distances without the need for fuel. The project is called the GravityPlane. The idea sprung from the brain of Robert D. Hunt, a theoretical physicist. It uses a cycle of climbing and descending to maintain its lift and forward speed, mimicking the behavior of the bodies of warm and cold air which make up the weather. For the GravityPlane to become airborne, gas bags inside a pair of rigid, zeppelin-like structures are filled with helium from storage tanks inside the vehicle. Once the craft reaches the altitude where the helium is no longer lighter than the surrounding air– theoretically as high as ten miles up– it is unable to climb any further. Some of the stored compressed air is then expanded into the dirigible areas, decreasing the buoyanc

The Aviation Industry in Sri Lanka ( Is it Screwed? )
Despite rising fuel costs, the threat of global terrorism, the cost of raw materials, labour and other contributing factors on the steady rise, the world airline industry, as a whole is expanding. One glance at a newspaper today and you will see testament to this. Airlines are expanding their fleets, manufacturers are churning out new aircraft, and cargo, ground handling, and maintenance facilities are popping up like mushrooms after a heavy shower! Drink This: Modern Aviation
I've decided what my 'new' drink is. And feel free to order it next time you're out. It's called the Modern Aviation and it's tasty. Not to mention it has a great name when ordering. If your bartender doesn't know what it is then follow my three step program:1. Slap him/her2. Tell him/her to pour three ounces of their (or your) choice of vodka, splash a little maraschino liquor, squeeze a half lime and shake it over ice and pour into the best tumbler or highball glass they've got behind the counter on rocks... kind of like the ones to the right but without the single malt scotch. If they're feeling especially frisky then maybe they'll drop a mint leaf or two on top.3. Tip them well, either way.Listen up... a drink like this is meant to be enjoyed. If you're interested in getting geigered up then do that on your own accord but honestly, why when something like this is so good when consumed so slowly your esophagus writes you a Gold Crown Thank You card?
