Everyone in my office was delighted to learn yesterday afternoon that the threatened strike by tube maintenance workers had been called off. Thus the spectre of delay and disruption across several lines was averted. Not that given the behaviour of the Jubilee Line recently you'd notice much more delay and disruption. Arriving in the ticket hall at Green Park last night we learned that the next
Get down on your knees, and thank whatever higher power you fancy, that today the world does not have Georgia on it's mind. Every single being on the face of the earth, should be giving thanks, that on 8-8-08 Vladimir Putin and George Bush were sitting contently in the Bird's Nest stadium, watching two thousand and eight People's Liberation Army soldiers pound drums, in the opening act of a messi
Now that Karan Johar has confirmed plans for the release of his Dostana (the film is all set to arrive on 14th November), it has paved way for a pertinent question to be asked. Will Harman Baweja's VICTORY move ahead in order to avoid a clash with Priyanka starrer Dostana? There are a couple of reasons which lead to this question.First and foremost being the 'good friendship' being shared between H

Today’s Moonbattery Report
Another dangerous weapon has been confiscated by airport security. G.I. Joe’s rifle and an armed cartoon robot were bad enough, but PhD student Marnina Norys actually attempted to board a plane in British Columbia with this around her neck:
She tried removing the menacing pennant and stuffing it in her bag, but that wasn’t [...]
Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke said accelerating rates of foreclosures and delinquencies can have a significant impact on the economy and called for more to be done in order to prevent them. Speaking Monday night at the Columbia Business School’s 32nd annual dinner, Bernanke said the rate of foreclosures will likely increase in 2008 and that traditional anti-foreclosure steps may not be working to prevent them. He also said sharp declines in home prices can have a negative impact on the overall economy.“High rates of delinquency and foreclosure can have substantial spillover effects on the housing market, the financial markets, and the broader economy,” he said. “Therefore, doing what we can to avoid preventable foreclosures is not just in the interest of lenders and borrowers. It's in
Everything safe and sound in the good ol’ USA
After two weeks of anxiety, indigestion and near heart attacks, my photos have finally arrived safely in Minnesota. Once they had the information they “needed”, everything took 2 days, which I must say is way faster than I thought it would take. You can witness the route [...]
So yeah, cheesy title aside, I finished Crysis this morning after about 11 hours of play-time.
I have to say, I hated the start. I hated the alien caverns. But, having never finished far cry, I promised myself I’d at least finish Crysis. So I soldiered on (hehe) and I have to say, after you get out of the alien caverns, the game will only last you maybe 2 hours, but I’ll be damned if it’s not f*cking awesome.
I absolutely loved the last part of Crysis. It actually felt like a … crisis… Okay okay I’m sorry I can’t help it, the word play is so tempting.
Anyway, as I was saying — it was an awesome final 2 hours for me this time. I loved it, and I think, I could consider it the redeemed just by that play experience. You really felt it was an epic thing towards the end. What did shit me off was the ending and clearly Crytek got lazy and just ended it. Maybe they’re making room for an expansion pack? Who knows.
I fucking hate the jungle
Another group joins Sudan protestsThe 'teddy bear named Muhammad' story gets more unbearable by the day. Thankfully, the stand-off in Sudan--on whether it's proper to lash a school teacher 40 times or imprison her or both--is over. Kevin Sullivan, in the Washington Post, relays this uplifting news from a place that could use all the uplifting news it can get.Gillian Gibbons was pardoned by the Sudanese President, Omar al-Bashir, who shortened her sentence from 15 days to two weeks and there will be no lashes. Her crime: allowing a toy bear in her classroom to be given the name Muhammad. The entire episode sparked conversations and comments worldwide. Among the comments were the following."This case has done quite a bit of damage to how the Sudanese government will be perceived; they have done their country no favors." --Inayat Bunglawala, spokesman for the Muslim Council of Britain, the county's largest Muslim organization. He called Gibbon's release "wonderful news."Gibbons was p
Well, if you recall on Monday I made the post titled "Averted Disaster - SGN". This "aversion" only lasted so long, as the stock fell more on Tuesday, and then really tanked today. I switched some clients out to ASTM, and others to IRSN. I still have one client in the stock, as he has quite a bit of shares, and I want to see if there is a chance to recoup some of that large loss position still. The stock has been down for 5 straight days, and the RSI is now in oversold territory. My hope is that we get some sort of rebound tomorrow, and then I'll see about switching him out into something else. The upshot of all this, is that client accounts are down so far this week. This after a good start on Monday. There are two more days left in the week though, so hopefully things will look a lot better by then.
Even though I had a number of other stocks that were doing okay today, the 34 cent drop in SGN had the potential to really ruin my day. The stock unexpectedly broke below the 200 DMA at $1.40, and hit support at $1.20. It did this so quickly that I had little chance to sell clients out of it in time. Additionally, with $1.20 holding, we now had a double bottom there, so I was reluctant to sell after that occurred. However, that did not change the fact that clients were down around .30 for most of the day.In the afternoon, after getting an email from another client on the stock, I decided to put him in at $1.29. He was only partially filled, and then the stock took off. Thankfully, after being down as much as .34, it ended up having a decent close, only off 9 from Friday's close, and 5 cents over the 200 DMA. I really like that last part. Now hopefully it can hold $1.40 tomorrow, and eventually surpass the 50 DMA ($1.52) again. After today's action, I am no longer looking for this st
I was all set to write a post about how it takes an act of Congress for my 4 year-old daughter to get dressed in the morning. It doesn't matter if the tv is on or not - her feet could be on fire and she'd zone out and take 3 years to put her shirt on.As I drove the kids to school, I thought more about Miss Slow-Poke. After kabitzing with another mommy-friend at school about all the guilt-ridden requirements and obligations put on us as members of this particular school's "family," Sweetpea and I made our way to the market to pick up some items. And then my cellphone rang.Hubby was calling from work, wondering if I opened a new account with a credit card company. He got an email alert from the credit report company that there was a new account in his name. I didn't do it. (I would NEVER.) Perhaps his dad, who shares his name, opened one and there was a mistake. He was off to figure out what happened, and I was left with scanning bananas and double fiber bread, wondering if I h
Lunching, munching and averted (?) punching‘As a child my family’s menu consisted of two choices – take it, or leave it’ Buddy HackettSomething I don’t understand just lately is why, as customers, we are being treated so poorly when we part with our hard earned money. The concept of ‘The Customer is King’ is all but dead, and it seems as consumers we are not voting with our feet, but simply are noting defeat. We are being directionalised all too often, and seemingly without noticing, or complaining. I like the idea of the customer being king, but not Stephen King. However, I seem to slip into re-enactments of Stephen King’s less normal characters on a seemingly all too often basis… Even the simplest of things that you try and attain as a consumer seems to be all but impossible. I get the impression that I am being ‘boxed’, categorised, effectively
