As any entrepreneur will tell you, in order to grow a business you have to be able to sell. Nothing happens in business until someone sells something. You even have to engage in sales when you go to the bank to get a loan to start your business.

When I met Mike Jones at the Manor Health Fair, I was immediately struck by the incredible level of positive energy and passion that he exuded as a regional leader for Us Too, an organization dedicated to providing support group and health empowerment services to men, who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer, and their families.

Employee behavior, as any human behavior, derives from attitudes toward various subjects or objects. These attitudes are in turn a result of beliefs held by the employee. In order to understand how to create or change employee attitudes we must understand how an attitude is created and what affects it.The two main attitudes in organizational behavior are work satisfaction and organizational commitment. These two basic attitudes are of extreme importance to both organizations and managers. From a manager’s point of view the employee’s attitude towards organizational commitment is more important as it directly affects employee productivity.A person’s beliefs and values create an attitude toward a subject or object which is basically a positive or negative approach towards it. Attitudes in turn affect behavior. For example, if a person believes that “work is no fun – work is a responsibility” then his attitude towards organizational commitment would be positive. In turn, in hi

A recent issue of the International Quarterly of Community Health Education (Volume 25) presents the results of a cross sectional study designed to determine how prevalent intimate partner violence was among women of child-bearing age in a migrant community in southwest Nigeria. The women in the study ranged in age from 15 to 49 years and structured questionnaires were given in the local language to learn about attitudes toward domestic violence in seven hypothetical situations as well as their personal experiences with violence. Of the women surveyed, 87% reported having experienced intimate partner violence at some point in their lives while 20% reported having experienced it in the preceding 12 months. In examining attitudes towards intimate partner violence. 79.5% of the survey respondents believed that wife beating was justified in at least one of the seven hypothetical situations that were presented. Respondents who were not living with a
ATTITUDES AND BEHAVIORS OF THE HOLY PROPHET TOWARDS NON-MUSLIMSReligious Tradition in the HejazHejaz Peninsula from the north to the south and from the east to the west, has always interacted with different cultural elements and religious traditions throughout history. This region, which stretches from Palestine-Jordan, known as “the golden crescent” in the north, to Mesopotamia has accommodated many traditions from pagan cultures to monotheistic movements. Assyrian-Babylon paganism worshipped the stars and planets, while polytheistic Greek culture, Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Christianity and Manichaeism have all existed in this region. Apart from these religions, many movements that are known as secret religions and which involve esotericism and mysticism have also thrived here. This region was also the place in which many prophets conveyed the faith of monotheism, which is based on the absolute unity of God. Prophets like Abraham, Zachariah, and Jesus invited people to accept God a

The JTA was able to send a reporter to Syria recently, where local attitudes towards Jews and Israel seem quite odd. On the one hand, they actually respect the very few Jews left living there, ditto their religion (or so it would seem). On the other hand, their opinions on Israel are more revealingly hostile.Residents of Aleppo, asked for directions to the Harat al-Yahud, the former Jewish quarter, pointed the way without a hint of hostility. In fact, a sign in Arabic at the entrance to the abandoned Joab Ben Zeruiah synagogue warns against dumping trash "in front of this holy place of worship."But the attitude changes on Israel."Israel is one thing, and Jews are something else,” Mahmoud Sharif, an English-speaking tour guide, told JTA in Aleppo. "We respect the Jewish religion and consider it one of God's religions, but we don't accept Israel."So he says. The impression one gets from this is that Syrians ostensibly respect Jews/Israelis and their religion, but hate the Israel. But
Surgically altering one's appearance simply for aesthetic improvement was once frowned upon, even with non-invasive cosmetic treatments such as botox. However, a recent survey may indicate a shift in such attitude. In a survey conducted by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) and research firm, Synovate, attitudes of the general public toward cosmetic surgery are the most positive they've been in the last decade. The 10th Consumer Attitudes Study Findings of the 10th Consumer Attitudes Study, conducted in February of this year, show a steady increase over the past 10 years in the positive attitude of people across the U.S. toward the cosmetic surgery field. Statistics show 62% of 1000 surveyed Americans aged 18 and above approve of cosmetic surgery. Further, ap
Although Northern Ireland is definitely cooler than the south of France, one surprising difference is that Northern Ireland has icecream vans at just about every possible location that you’d find crowds of people whereas France seems to have none of these. That’s indicative of quite a different attitude towards the climate in general between NI and France which we’ve seen illustrated numerous times whilst we’ve been here.
As soon as the temperature drops below around 30c over here, all the locals don their Winter coats. Not just any old Winter coat either for the coats on sale in the local shops seem more suited to Arctic conditions than the, usually, very mild Winters that we get here. Although it’s been warm enough for us to be running around in t-shirts almost all the time since March 2006 (yes, all year), the local population has been wearing their heavy coats since late September.
Perhaps the most noticeable difference that we’ve seen though is w
This is a thought provoking video concerning the differing US and British media attitudes to Israeli policy. Basically Britain points out what is illegal, that Palestinians have their homes demolished because they don’t have permits, but that it is almost impossible for a Palestinian to get a permit. The US media defends and legitimizes the occupations and abuses.
Of course these are generalisations, but they are important facts.
Let the debate begin.

The last few days have been absolutely glorious!Sunshine. Warm. Spring is definitely in the air! Now, you wouldn't know that from the neighbors I'vevisited over the last couple days. They all seem to have taken a 'negative attitude' pill or something. Then again, mayhaps they've always been that way, and I'm just now realizing it.Yikes! Ya' know what that means don't cha?It means: If I've never noticed their negativity beforenow, I must've been radiating that same negativity onsome level, or I wouldn't have attracted this experience into my life.Actually, I knew that about myself sometime ago. And, Ididn't like what I was allowing myself to become: A harpie! You know: Harping' on this! Griping' about that! Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah! HEAVEN FORBID!!!That's just NOT me!However, it becomes very easy when you're living in acommunity of basically good people, who unfortunately, for whatever reason, have allowed themselves to evolveinto chronic complainers. That kind of ne
