In the past two days, CMPD North Division Officers have arrested eight people they believe are responsible for a series of residential break-ins in the Brookshire Blvd., Mt. Holly-Huntersville Rd. and Mt. A former patient has been charged with the theft of a laptop from a VA hospital last November. If you’ll recall, the Indianapolis VA center found itself short of a laptop, two desktops, and assorted peripheral equipment. The items were stolen over Veterans Day weekend, ironically enough. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's SWAT unit successfully took an armed man and other individuals into custody following warrant service early yesterday morning at a house at 9816 Langston Mill Road in North Charlotte.SWAT served the warrant for the arrest of Rafael Wilfredo Rivas (Shown R) at approximately 5:30am as part of an ongoing joint investigation between CMPD, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles. Edgar Hoover had a plan to suspend the rules against illegal detention and arrest up to 12,000 Americans he suspected of being disloyal, according to a newly declassified document. Hoover sent his plan to the White House on July 7, 1950, less than two weeks after the Korean War began.
