      Archery Shoot
Today I was reading one of my boyfriend’s Louis L’Amour books in the bathroom and I remembered when I was young trying to write a western on a yellow legal pad. 'Amour   And that reminded me that I never got around to writing any more than a journal entry at the 4 day Chamberlin Ranch Traditional Archery shoot last weekend. It’s a private range near Los Olivos, CA.      I was thinking that at the archery event, everyone’s experience was different than my own.      Sunday morning I was sitting around the campfire lamenting the pain in my lower back from 3 days of sleeping in a tent, and an Asian man named Sig offered me some herbal tea mixture he made himself from dried passion flower. Turns out he’s a nurse so I think healing runs i

More items to display and also more bow and arrow at most of every corner! This Archery Center established 5 years ago, and it's the ONLY one around Johor Bahru. I wonder why peoples around here don't like this Sport?! It's because of practice? Or it's because of sports? Most of the peoples here would prefer something to do with the men Ego....I think. :)Some pictures to share.......The CounterRight & left wingTarget FacesCompound Bow, Cross Bow & some display itemsWithout this, the bow is useless!! - ArrowsThe workshopMr Mark Teh (owner

Breakfast Links: Archery, Legend & Big Screen BSG
I ran across this super awesome site, the Asian Traditional Archery Research Network. It could use a little designerly love, sure, but it’s pretty badass anyway. Where else will you learn about the Multiple-shot “Zhuge” Crossbow? Who even knew that crossbows got to have “nicknames”? And you’ll learn the difference between arrow whistles and whistling arrows! I mean, prior to this, my primary education in these matters came from Oriental Adventures. A scholarly tome, to be sure, but not as topically focused as this site. If you’re a New Yorker, you’ll need to read up on that stuff as we’re about to get all post-apocalyptic. See these screens of Union Square for proof. Ok, they’re shots from the upcoming I Am Legend, but still, it’s pretty awesome. I mean, it must be happening now, cause you can still see those buildings wrapped up in scaffolding and the new 8USS has that sales banner draped on it. I wasn’t really in

      Ryan’s Archery Buck
Hey everyone… I just had to pass along this photo of the buck I shot earlier this week. The mule deer buck was taken with a bow from a ground blind at about 20 yards. The hunt took place about 30 miles from my home in the high desert region of Central Oregon. If you’re morally opposed to hunting I’m sorry to offend you.

      Camp Archery Program
Archery is another huge hit with the kids at Rockbrook this summer. Girls really enjoy learning about archery at summer camp. There’s something classic about it. Nocking an arrow, pulling the bow, taking a breath, holding still, and releasing the arrow toward the multi-colored target. Of course, we’re aiming for the center of the target, and when we hit it, we get a certificate proving we’re in the “Bullseye Club.” No matter how old you are, it’s not easy at first, but with practice it doesn’t take long to improve and hit the target more and more perfectly. Hey, there’s Griffin!

The Sport of Archery in the Olympic Games
By Michael RussellArchery was not a sports event in the first ancient Olympic Games in Greece. However, the games were held for over 1,000 years, so it's entirely possible that at some time archery was an Olympic sport in the past.Archery for men was an event for the first time in the modern Olympics in 1900. The first archery event for women was in 1904. However, there was no uniformity in the rules in those early Olympics and archery was dropped as an event after 1920. The international governing body for archery, the Federation Internationale de Tira l'Arc (FITA), was founded in 1931. It took many years before all countries accepted the new international rules for competition, but archery was able to return as an Olympic sport to the 1972 Munich Games. In 1988, team competitions were held in addition to the individual events.Since 1992, the event format is head-to-head competition for the top 64 athletes. There are four archery events: Men's Individual, Women's Individual, Men'
