Thoughts on Top Chef – The Reason Behind Lisa’s Fortuitousness And Padma’s Appalling Gaff
I have to say that I enjoyed Top Chef more as a casual spectator than writing about every single second. AND, surprise, surprise, up until the final 60 seconds, I absolutely thought that Lisa should stay and Antonia should go.But first a grumpy preface about Padma’s English. I would imagine that the initial scripting of Top Chef goes through many hands and eyes and presumably brains, AND that t

Police and British Legion probe 'appalling' BNP leaflet
Brian Norton Parker-Not the dick with feather dusterA POLICE probe has been launched into a leaflet posted to homes across Burnley and Pendle which blames Muslims for the heroin trade in Britain. A British National Party councillor from Pendle and a former Burnley BNP election candidate are named in the leaflet as endorsing the views. Councillors have called for Coun Brian Norton Parker, a BNP councillor for the Marsden ward in Nelson, to quit. But both he and John Rowe, a former BNP candidate for Rosegrove with Lowerhouse in Burnley, have spoken out in support of the leaflet. Colleagues on Pendle Council are now considering reporting Coun Parker to their watchdog, the Standards Board, on suspicion of bringing the authority into disrepute. Police have confirmed that an investigation has be

      Appalling sight of the day
So yesterday we’re driving to our “mommy and me”-type class and Jax and I take notice of this really cool car next to us because it looks like Flo from the Disney Pixar movie CARS. If you’ve been around for more than 5 minutes, you probably already know that my son is obsessed with this movie and all of the characters because I’m sure I’ve mentioned it…..oh maybe a few times. Anyway, so we’re driving next to this car that looks like Flo except it’s darker green and in much worse condition. It’s pretty banged up and has grateful dead stickers all over the back. I notice there’s a kid in the front seat. It totally reminds me of the discussion we just had here about what age everyone will let their child sit up front. Meanwhile, I’m trying to figure out how old this kid is and trying to think back about how old I was when I was allowed and the car goes in front of us……and keeps driving in the direction

The appalling customer service offered by UK online travel companies
When Darren of Travel Rants asked me to guest blog, I thought great, a chance to rant, why not live up to the name. What aspect of travel makes me want to rant, it’s poor customer service. I looked at Travel Rants and saw that Darren had recently blogged on this topic. Darren reckoned that a high percentage of online travel companies would fail a basic customer service test and they would probably take around 48 hours to respond to an email. I found the Transversal customer service study of top websites in the travel, banking, insurance, consumer goods and telecoms sectors, which can be downloaded if you register at Transversal. Guess what 60% of emails to travel company websites did not receive a reply. Of the remaining 40% companies who did manage to respond, the average response time was 42 hours. Darren was very close with his estimate of 48 hours! The travel websites were asked ten pretty basic question e.g. can I fly from this airport to that airport, do I
