Anonymous was out and about in Copley Square again this weekend. I first mentioned them back in February when I was walking past the area (here). This time, I stopped to snap a few pictures of the gathering and also speak with one of the Anonymous members there.Their goal is to protest Scientology and raise awareness about the "crimes of the Church of Scientology." I put it in quotes because I
Oh my goodness, I just realised, I missed the first anniversary of Beautyholics Anonymous by 4 days!Has it really been a year already? Where did the time go?Oh what a journey it has been. I've made new friends, met up with new friends, and had quite a number of *ahem* freebies coming my way which I was very grateful for. I've learnt AND spent more money on makeup than I ever did ever since I starting using makeup :pIt's good. It's all good. And it's all down to y'all, my lovely readers. Without you, there will be no Beautyholics Anonymous. So kudos to all of you. Here's to another great year ahead, all you beautyholics!Copyright Beautyholics Anonymous. All rights reserved.
"Anonymous is a cultural phenomenon which began on internet image boards. Many such boards require no registration for posting, and every poster remains anonymous. This format of communication is inherently noisy and chaotic. However, the unprecedented openness made possible by such boards has nurtured the appearance of a unique and persistent culture."[via why we protest]
Reuters - Egypt has asked mobile phone companies to

You would think if celebrities like Tom Cruise are involved in something like the Church of Scientology, then it should be all above board, as Tom Cruise is a stand up guy…right? Then you here about an anti-Scientology movement called “Anonymous”, so it gets you thinking does the Church of Scientology have something to hide.

When you’re undergoing an outpatient treatment using Suboxone or methadone, it’s important that you find your resources for support wherever you can. One of the most common ways people choose to do that is to take advantage of the many 12-step support groups like Narcotics Anonymous. Free of charge with meetings every day of the week and, in many towns, many times a day, there really isn’t a more convenient or cheaper way to get the help you need.

First of all, don't even bother to think about committing some kind of a major internet-crime. You'll get caught. If you're reading this article, well, you can assume that there's no really secure way to hide yourself. ISPs log everything. Well, there are certain things you can do, but if you have the knowledge to perfectly cloak your IP, then why bother reading on?
Actually, why even bother trying to surf the web anonymously? Well, there are certain sites that simply won't let you in, if you're, say, from India. Or, you can get banned from a site. Or, you can simply be paranoid.
First, you might want to get rid of your (browser's) cookies. If you're using Firefox, you better create a new profile, so you don't need to delete your cookies. Then, if you want to hide your browser's identity,

Thanks to his generosity (he did much more than just match the funds we raised) we gathered more than $760 in March to help kitties in need! $656.38 will be divided between Moki and Lilly Lu, and the rest will go to Cat Friends Helping Friends and Project H.A.M. Because he deserves recognition for his incredible act of kindness, I purred the anonymous benefactor into letting me reveal his identity! Plants have been sneaking into our yard lately. I haven't had anything at all to do with it, either. It's starting to turn into a problem: I now have mosquito bites all over my head from planting all these narcissi. They hurt. It's weird. Topanga observes the damage. Her porch keeps shrinking! Ahhhhh plants! They make me feel alive! Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go plant some morning glories. (Not pictured here...I have eight packets of them on the coffee table.)I do not have a problem. (Except for the mosquito bites.)absolutelysmall.blogspot.com

I've been meaning to blog about this very subject for quite a while. The links have been sitting in my "Discuss" folder and I think it's about time it was brought up. I think this will work in two stages. The first stage is to talk about the group Anonymous and their war against Scientology (as it currently stands) and the second stage is to talk about cyber-terrorism in general, since it is an issue we are facing in the real world and will face to a greater extent in the future. For those of you a little out of the loop, Anonymous is a, well, anonymous group of people all around that world that have essentially declared war against the Church of Scientology. They (the people behind it, some of which do have names since there's really no way to keep yourself hidden entirely) believe

Don't go about the back door calling me racial slurs and trying to hurt me and my girlfriend over matters that should seriously have stopped a long time ago. Lawmaker Tim Couch from Kentucky (why are the idiots always in the south... don't answer that) wants to fine people like me for letting people I don't know comment on my site.He wants to make it where every commenter has to register their name and address with any site they comment on and fine the owner of said site up to $1000 if they don't comply. I personally detest anonymous commenters (at least make up a name heh) but that doesn't mean I think you have to register who you are to be online. This bill is supposed to stop 'online bullying' but would only stop online commenting. People, for various reasons, do not want their real-life information floating around in anymore places than it has to be. I'm sure that little out-of-the-way sites such as mine would simply not be stops for peop

Sure, it might stop harassment, but even the lawmaker himself said that it be a challenge to enforce this bill if it became [...]

While it is fairly obvious that this will be shot down in the federal courts if not the Supreme Court, [...]
Since last week I have been following closely the intense debate among expats in Indonesia about anonymous blogger, an issue raised by Fatih Suyud when he awarded Rob Baiton as the blogger of the week and praised Rob as one of the few Western bloggers who reveals his own true identity. Fatih actually has written a lot of postings about what he calls ghost bloggers - 7 actually including the Rob Baiton's posting - but this time he has successfully attracted many comments and ripostes, perhaps because he specifically targets 'foreign expatriates who blog on Indonesia' under the pseudonymous.Unspun reacted at the same day, and clipped Fatih's post on his blog and said that he thoroughly agrees with Fatih. John Orford, Jakartass, Oigal and Treespotter contributed their thoughts on this issue o
There was a big hoo-ha a while a go when Fatih raised an old issue about anonymous blogging. He particularly dislikes those who blog anonymously on sensitive issues, like politics or religions, and suspect that they have hidden agendas. My dumb writing group decided the prompt for this month would be "Mistakes." Consequently, I've spent all month trying to think about what to write about and dredging up all the memories of my biggest mistakes. It hasn't made for a good month. So I'm passing the bad energy on to you because I'm nice like that. Maybe your comments will help me come up with something creative for my writing group. So the question is, what is the the biggest or worst mistake you've ever made? I'm a little afraid to see what's going to happen with this question but hope it will make for some killer comments. As always, only anonymous comments allowed and I'll anonymize (yes, when you are as cool as me you can make up words) any comments that aren't.

Don't get me wrong, I love my friends and family. But sometimes you have thoughts that you would prefer to keep anonymous. Thoughts like "Why do we have children?!" and "How could he say something so stupid?"I have a creative side that loves to write. Even as a pre-teen, I kept a daily journal and it was always the most therapeutic thing I did. After a session of writing, my head felt clearer and I was able to make more rational choices. Well, rationial to a 12-year old. Whatever that means. My husband and I were married in '99; we'll be the first to admit our marriage has not been perfect. Looking for a temporary disposable email address service that is free and that works well? Disposable email addresses are quite useful for many things, such as posting on an auction site or simply for signing up for one of those forced "free" accounts so that you can download a piece of software you were looking for. If you end up giving your real email address, you never know how many people they will sell it too and eventually you'll be bombarded with tons of useless offers, deals, etc. MintEmail is the way to go if you're looking for a free way to get disposable email addresses! So next time you need to post a question to a forum, etc and you want to hide your real email address to prevent spam, make sure you check this site out. This site may seem like your normal disposable email service, but upon closer inspection you'll find that it's way better than most temporary email services. Why? Well let's go through some of the nice features: Automatic Temporary Email Gene

(Working the Step)This thought brings us to Step Ten, which suggests we continue to take personal inventory and continue to set right any new mistakes as we go along. We vigorously commenced this way of living as we cleaned up the past. We have entered the world of the Spirit. Our next function is to grow in understanding and effectiveness. This is not an overnight matter. It should continue for our lifetime. Continue to watch for selfishness, dishonesty, resentment, and fear. When these crop up, we ask God at once to remove them. We discuss them with someone immediately and make amends quickly if we have harmed anyone. Then we resolutely turn our thoughts to someone we can help. Love and tolerance of others is our code.(The 10th step Promise) And we have ceased fighting anything or anyone, even alcohol. For by this time sanity will have returned. We will seldom be interested in liquor. If tempted, we recoil from it as from a hot flame. We react sanely and normally, and we will find th
Unfortunately, my friend from Athens, GA has shown up again. I have called him Mr. Anonymous, and Mr. Asshole before. The latter title is more apt a description. He initially commented today by kicking me when I was down. This was his M.O. the last time he commented. While I am more than happy to discuss different opinions on stocks, whether we agree or disagree, I am not too fond of being penalized for my honesty. For the most part, people have been respectful of that wish, unfortunately Mr. A has not. Therefore, since this is my site, I have put comment moderation on so I can approve or disapprove comments, versus having to delete ones that I find inappropriate.Mr. A's next post had the gall to ask me a question, after insulting me! I deleted that one as well. His subsequent comments were moderated, but I wanted to correct something he said, since I know he is reading this: Writing Calls limit your upside, and your downside risk. They do not increase your downside risk. As I sugges

For a long time, I've been seeing the same standard anonymous avatars for people listed in comments at sites like johnchow.com. These avatars come from places like MyBlogLog and Gravatar. You've probably noticed them too. These are the ones I've seen:
Today I saw this one:
That got me thinking that taking a standard anonymous avatar and tweaking it a bit could be funny. You get so used to seeing the same old ones that when one of them is different somehow, it jumps out at you. So I made a few:
Feel free to right-click and save for your own personal use!
I really like the backwards silhouette, because that's just subtle enough to evoke a "WTF?" I also like the inverted ones, especially the plain types, where the only change is the color inversion. It's like they represent someone from a negative universe. The upside down ones I think are funny too, bec
I have always thought that blogger only allows comments from blogger user to be identified. However, as i was replying a comment just now, i realise that there's now an option for readers to comment by using a nickname. I wonder if it has always been there or is it newly added. Anyway, i am glad that my readers are able to comment without being anonymous any more.I always liked to have a top commentor module like in wordpress blog but i can't find a hack for blogger. So hopefully, blogger will do more and allow a top commentor module.Having a top commentor module will really encourage more comments from readers as that module will provide a free backlink to the commentors blog. Thus, the more you comment, the higher ranking you are, and the more people will go to your blog. In addition, you get free backlink from every page of the blog.
Ok this may sound stupid to some of you, but I am really thinking of shutting down this blog and start a new anonymous one.I just don’t feel that I can say whatever I want here. And for the people who think that being anonymous is not a good blogging practice, I tell you read more and educate yourself about the benefits of anonymity here .
