Terrafugia hopes it will showcase controlled aircraft this summer
Make no mistake, Terrafugia of eccentric aircraft / hybrid car was on the drawing board for years, but looks to the rubber is about to go to the adverbial road (or the sky, as) this July. A team of ten working ready for the transition to its debut at this year's AirVenture, where there is hope to catch more than a few eyes with his zany "roadable aircraft." What is likely, I think this thing is designed and manage, and yes, it means that you will have to pass safety regulations of both Federal Aviation Administration and the National Administration for road safety. If all goes well, when you start expects to issue its first vehicle to a customer in 2009, while mass production is not scheduled to become until 2012. To some, the image is merely a ship or ships, naval vessels, or a large chunks of steel and bitumen floating on water. Indeed there are others who would instantly think of the now hackneyed derogatory designation, Great Satan and its tools of evil.Peter Brookes has a different interpretation. While considering the consequences of funding cuts that will see the U.S. carrier fleet drop from 12 in 2007 to 10 by 2012, he articulates an exceedingl

Aircraft Alarm Clock with LED Message Propeller
We’ve all seen those fans that use pulsing LEDs to show a message that appears to hover in space and this cute (not a word we use often) Aircraft Alarm Clock with messaging LED propeller works very much along the same lines. A great present for children with an interest in aircraft or for adults with an aviation bent who refuse to take life too seriously, the battery operated Aircraft Alarm Clock, which even comes with a choice of self adhesive decals, not only displays the time courtesy of LEDs mounted in its working propeller but it will also wake you in the morning by the engine starting up and a ‘Wake Up’ message. Okay, so it’s not rocket science and it’s hardly cutting edge technology, but as a fun gadget we love it. The Aircraft Alarm Clock retails for 29800 Korean Won, which is approximately $32 / £15 / €23 excluding shipping. Personally we’re holding out for a P51 Mustang version. ---Related Articles at Thoughts from the Sidelines - Technology, Gadgets & Curios

Oooh, this is a cool plane… t the heart of the aircraft is the new radar, the APY-9, designed and built by Lockheed Martin Corporation. It can “see” smaller targets and more of them at greater ranges than the E-2C. The new rotodome, developed by L-3 Communications Randtron Antenna Systems, contains the critically important, continuous, 360-degree scanning capability, while adding an electronically scanned array. This system allows operators to focus the radar on selected areas of interest. 360, array, Business, capability, Consumer, Cool, educational, Entertainment, Government, heart, Industrial, lockheed martin corporation, l 3 communications, oooh, radar, randtron antenna systems, targets, Travel

      Useless Aircraft Safety
One of the things which really gets me thinking is who on earth suggested the personal safety equipment on aircrafts ! Every time I read the safety instructions, I ask myself the same question ! If something goes wrong, would these procedures and equipment help ? How many on water emergency landings were successful ? You pay an x amount of money to buy the ticket and what do you get ? A stupid safety belt and a cushion ! What’s the cushion for ? you are supposed to tuck the cushion under your body and bend over it, with your wee silly belt on ! Now supposing we are heading towards a mountain at 500 miles/hr; with your safety belt and your cushion in your arm, what do you do with a cushion ? Do you all throw it at the one time shouting go away nasty mountain ? is that what its for ? because it does nothing to me when I try to sleep ! Now you also; if you read the instructions; get a safety jacket under your seat, now that’s fair enough, I fancy a parachute myse

      aircraft carrier...
Just got back from doing an overnight scout camp on the USS Hornet Aircraft Carrier! It was awesome. Today was also the first day of the Chester dog sled races. The races were postponed, so the race and this trip collided, and I couldn't make it to the dog sled race. It's okay, but I sure would have liked to go to the races. My plans are to do some good races next season, when the dogs are more seasoned and a little older.I will post a couple photos of the USS Hornet tomorrow.Cheerful Trails,Christian Hollingsworth

Things you shouldn't know about airlines - Courtesy your friendly aircraft engineer!
Ever wondered about how safe your flight was? Millions of people put their faith and trust in the hands of the Engineering staff and Pilots everyday because they believe that the airplane they fly in is safe. Safe because of the highly trained staff handling the tasks involved are meticulous and extremely careful. Safe because strict rules govern those who are involved in the industry to ensure nothing goes wrong. Safe because of the multiple systems and fail-safe backups. Fasten your seat belts and hold on to the base of your seat while crouching forwards, this is known as a "bracing position".Do you know WHY they specify this bracing posit
