The big news today is that the US Department of State has allowed the filing of Adjustment of Status (I-485) until August 17. It rescinded the July 2 Visa Bulletin which took back an earlier announcement that employment-based visas would be available by July. Foreign nationals who are filing the I-485 application for adjustment of status (i.e. final stage of the "green card" process) have to demonstrate eligibility in a number of areas. One area involves medical screening, by a specially authorized physician, referred to under law as a civil surgeon. The exam includes a number of different tests to order to determine whether the applicant has certain "contagious diseases of public health significance" that should prevent her/him from obtaining the I-485 approval and becoming a U.S. permanent resident. My bust, tho smallish, is lower on my chest than the average figure. I avoid princess seams like the plague because the "full" part is above my full part. I can see driving myself crazy putting it on, pinning, taking it off, putting it back on, pinning, etc., trying to make the seams work. I just finished making my first piece that I can wear! In the past they have always been for my girls, costumes, or home decorating. I made Simplicity 3842 View A in a gorgeous chocolate brown Rayon with an aqua pattern which worked nicely. The shirt had an inner false shirt underneath to give it the look of a layered top. I followed the directions to the "T", but when i tried it on it was tight in the bust. I finally figured that if i removed the fake layer underneath, It fit great. I simply sewed a piece behind the low v-neck to make it look like there was another layer, but i do not have the bulk or the tightness. I am now off to sew my daughter's halloween costume followed by the flannel night gowns I promised all three, the cord. jumper for my youngest, the wool blend pants for me..... I made a SBA to a T-shirt pattern following the directions in "Fit for Real People". The altered pattern piece looks great. The alteration ends up taking out length from the side-seam (it folds out a dart). Should I add length to the bottom of the pattern to make the front and back side seams match? Is there a better way to do a SBA on a T-shirt pattern? Thanks for any suggestions. I've been working on a T-shirt pattern for what feels like years.
