      Efficiency in Technology Adaptation

Adaptation: Before Meryl Streep Moved to Greece and Started Singing All the Time
Usually, I find reading a book or watching a movie in which writing by one or more of the characters is central to the plot to be some of the most narrow, least inspired forms of entertainment imaginable. It’s as though the author or screenwriter has spent so much time writing that they have [...]

      Adaptation
The human capacity for adaptation never ceases to amaze me. Okay, so maybe not never. I mean, I don't spend all my waking hours in raptures over it, but it does occur to me every now and again how spiffy we are. I could go on about the subject in a general fashion for a paragraph or two, but really, we know where I'm going with this. Yep. I'm going to be talking about me. Again. What's got me

      A weak, watered down adaptation
AnamikaCast: Dino Morea, Minissha Lamba, Koena MitraDirector:Ananth Narayan MahadevanRating: ** Daphne du Maurier’s dark romance, Rebecca, combining Mills & Boon romance with mystery and suspense, was turned into a classic film by Hitchcock and also remade in Hindi as Kohraa by Biren Nag (with a fabulous Hemant Kumar score). So Ananth Narayan Mahadevan, trying to do an updated version of the story, had great expectations to live up to. He matches the brooding Manderlay of the original with the magnificent Gajner Palace of Bikaner, and that where the inspiration ends. His Anamika is so weak and watered down, that it obviously suffers badly in comparison — you want to be moved and frightened by the young nameless heroine’s plight, but a botched narrative and Minissha Lamba’s

      Adaptation!
You can't live in Lebanon for an extended period of time without being rapidly able to adapt to any situation, no matter how odd and out of norm it is. And the Lebanese have perfected this trait to a point when even the oddest situation becomes part of our daily routine in a matter of days.Take for example the quasi military occupation of a big part of Beirut's down town, alternate route have been found, most restaurants have moved elsewhere, mostly to Hamra and verdun (two prominent neighborhood in west Beirut) the rest have simply gone bankrupt. For in Lebanon you either adapt or you die, figuratively speaking or even literary.Since the long series of assassination started in late 2004, it has been common knowldge, to all Lebanese that VIP convoys are to be avoided at all costs. Theater: Joyce Piven’s ‘What Dreams May Come’ a Mitzvah Lost in Adaptation
CHICAGO – Before you’re served this meal, you’re treated to a backstory of four integral ingredients that are three parts encouragement and one part concern. The Piven Theatre, which is co-founded by Joyce Piven (the mother of Chicago film star Jeremy Piven), is kicking off its upcoming theater season by revisiting an acclaimed format that sold out shows throughout its run two years ago.For more delectable buildup, a personal note from director Joyce Piven on this year’s “What Dreams May Come: American Visions Through Jewish Eyes” perfectly puts you in the storytelling mood. The tale of her credulous and selfless grandfather, Jake, is one you’re inspired by and proud to tell about an elder you love and respect. Jake Piven ran a small grocery store off Roosevelt Road where he had a “credit record” of all things purchased to be paid without interest when the person could afford it.For even more fodder to this looming feast, you learn its three stories are penned by one Pu

Adaptation is the Key to Success
miWisdom today… One must be prepared to do the unexpected at any moment in time in order to get ahead and stay ahead in this world. Whether this means stepping out of one’s comfort zone and overcoming a fear, or it could just be learning to master a new skill for the first time.  Either way, one must be prepared, willing and able to step forward, adapt and do what is required in the moment, otherwise one will struggle to move forward in life to any measurable degree. What possible unexpected events or circumstances could lay on the horizon for me? How can I best prepare myself to deal with them as they arise? What new skills must I master over the coming months to prepare me for the possible challenges that lie ahead? How will I go about obtaining and learning these new skills? Who could assist me with knowledge or mentor me in this area? If you have a similar learning experience or would like to add to the list of questions, you may do so by commenting below.

      Mechanisms of Adaptation
Evolutionary adaptations are the result of the competition among individuals of a particular species over many generations in response to an ever-changing environment, including other animals and plants. Certain traits are culled by natural selection favoring those individual organisms that produce the most offspring. This is such a broad concept that, theoretically, all the features of any animal or plant could be considered adaptive. For example, the leaves, trunk, and roots of a tree all arose by selection and help the individual tree in its competition for space, soil, and sunlight.Biologists have been accused of assuming adaptiveness for all such features of a species, but few cases have actually been demonstrated. Indeed, biologists find it difficult to be certain arose by selection and hence can be called adaptive or whether it arose by chance and is selectively neutral. The best example of an evolutionary development with evidence for adaptation is mimicry. Biologists can show

Samuel Jackson to play "Octopus" in Spirit adaptation

      Adaptation
The act of adapting; it’s a hard concept to grasp for many and it is an issue no matter where you are. Expats have a reputation for being unable to adapt to the surroundings they find themselves in. Immigration and integration are issues so many countries face and have found the very topic in main stream news. In the US President Bush wanted to put into practice the Guest Worker Program enabling immigrants to stay in the country legally while also contributing to society. However much as I or anyone else likes the idea of slowing the influx of illegal’s into the country with this program it doesn’t solve the underlying issues that most Americans have. It isn’t just the fact that they are illegal, it is that they will not adapt to the country and its people they find themselves in. I can recall while living in America the increase of Spanish all around me. While the country is English speaking I still had to press one or press two on the telephone if I wanted Eng

      GlobalWarming Awareness2007 - adaptation strategy
An example of an adaptation strategy to prevent damage from GlobalWarming Awareness2007 and climate change is shore protection (e.g., dikes, bulkheads, beach nourishment), which can prevent sea level rise from inundating low-lying coastal property, eroding beaches, or exacerbating flooding. If the costs or environmental impacts of shore protection are high compared with the property being protected, an alternative adaptation strategy would be a planned retreat, in which structures are relocated inland as shores retreat.

Slate presents the whole 9-11 Commission Report: A Graphic Adaptation online
I discovered that Slate's presenting The 9/11 Report: A Graphic Adaptation online, and decided to take a look at the finished product, as can everyone else, and be the judge. It's a presentation that's at least 106 pages long, and may still be updated with more pages even as I write this. It's a lot of material, which is why I may have to add more thoughts even after what I end up posting for starters (update: now it's got several more pages added, bringing it up to 132-133 pages in total. That's certainly a lot). Now from what I can tell, the finished book, if this is it, is surprisingly better than some initial reports made it out to be. However, that's not saying that all is satisfying with it. So, I'll see if I can offer a rundown of the good and the bad.The good:On page four, they give us an illustrated mug shot of all the 19 suspects who committed the sadistic crime in 2001. And, they also call the thugs "Arab nationals" on page five. (On page eight, there's an interestin
