The Program teaches us to let go of overwhelming problems, and let G-d handle them for us..... May I know that I am never without the help of G-d, that I am never helpless when He is with me... Despair is the absence of faith."This is not so different from the last post I wrote, but it's a really important message, so I think I'll stick with it again today. When I feel despair- that horrible feeling of helplessness and hopelessness, it is only because my "faith switch" is not set to "on". Despair comes out of that scary place of thinking and feeling that it's all up to me, that things couldn't get worse, that I can't survive or stand the current situatio

      Apologies For The Absence
My apologies for being away for so long. I have been working on a house project, my cable service has been giving me headaches, and my stock broker updated its software which crippled my computer. Things seem to be back on track now (knock on wood). So today's test of the early February low resulted in a strong reversal. I feel that we could bounce back up to the top of February's trading channel (~$45), rather than fall down and take out the $42 level. However, if the market keeps proving me wrong and the PowerShares QQQ Trust (NASDAQ: QQQQ) break down and take out support, I will look to jump on the wagon and grab some option puts.I did pick up some Fox Petroleum Inc. Unsecured Loan: Makes Way in The Absence of Guarantee
The loan market has become so competitive that having no collateral to pledge does not come in the way of acquiring loans. Tenants and non homeowners can avail this opportunity in the form of Unsecured Loan. Also people, who don’t want to pledge anything, can opt for this loan. In unsecured loan, borrowers can get loan amount in the range of £1000 to £25000. In the time of applying, borrowers have to show their repayment ability and give proof of income in the form of pay slips, bank and credit statements. As the loan is not secured, lenders are at considerable risk. The repayment term of unsecured loan ranges between 6 months and 10 years. The repayment term is small since there is no guarantee attached to the loan. Also for the same reason interest rates charged are higher.

I still feel pretty weak and shaky, but really hope the worst has passed. I must say, I sure am pathetic when I'm sick! For one brief panicked moment I considered contriving a way of rendering myself unconscious so I wouldn't have to endure it anymore.Considering the girls were throwing up the night before no, I don't think I'm pregnant. Affiliates! Once I find a way to earn extra cash I grab a button (or make my own in some instances) so that I can share with my readers. Many of them offer an incentive for referrals ... hence the reason I go ahead and place a button on my site ... to try and bring in a few extra bucks. S

I'll be in Boulder this weekend, for five days, and then Phoenix and Las Vegas in the week after that. This I head off for a week in Egypt and then back to reality and work in SA. Bieksa's absence grows longer
To quote TSN: Bieksa underwent surgery to repair the damage and was fitted with a cast following the procedure. The belief is once the cast comes off, the Canucks blueliner will have to endure a lengthy rehabilitation process. You know what that means folks.....the 8 weeks that was his predicted return could turn into 10-12 weeks...maybe more even.Is that a serious blow to the Canucks' defence? To me, it's a major blow if Bieksa is/was on his game, which he wasn't at the time of his injury. We are ultra deep on defence for these very reasons. I think there are a couple decent candidates who can fill Bieksa's role admirably. Luc Bourdon, if he ever excels at the NHL level. Edler will get a chance to shine now as well. Bourdon's big chance now comes at the heels of Salo being out for another month with a busted up face.As long as Ohlund can start hitting the net with his shots, Bieksa's injury won't concern me as much. There are a lot of points missing in Bieksa and Salo's absen

I hope to be back into the groove at the weekend and have a series covering RSS nearly ready to go which I hope you’ll find interesting. It won’t be technical as I’m no techie myself, but hopefully will give some thoughts on how we can best benefit from it, both as publishers and as subscribers. I think that fall is here to stay finally. It’s cold and rainy, the house is freezing. We had to turn the heat on again. We are not looking forward to our energy bill. Sure wish we had a fireplace. We may get a space heater, I know how dangerous those things are but I don’t leave them on unattended. My mother bought one for me to use in her basement when I came home from school to visit. The Absence of Evidence
Quite a few times, recently, I have heard Christians cite the time-worn words “absence of evidence is not evidence of absence”. It’s a catchy sound bite and a highly successful meme, but it is utterly false. Absence of evidence most certainly is evidence of absence. Before I explain why, I think it’s important to understand the difference between evidence and proof. The two are often used synonymously, to the point where the semantic lines have blurred. Strictly speaking though, evidence is defined as: Facts or observations presented in support of an assertion. Proof has a number of definitions, but I think this one is the most appropriate for the point I am trying to illustrate: That degree of evidence which convinces the mind of any truth or fact, and produces belief; a test by facts or arguments that induce, or tend to induce, certainty of the judgment; conclusive evidence; demonstration. To summarise this as simply as possible, evidence doesn’t have to be conclusi

The absence of the estranged couple at the scheduled hearing, besides the police seeking a grace period of one month to complete their investigation formalities led to the postponement. It is reported that the honourable judge took the absence of the actor seriously and observed that it would not be acceptable on the part of the police in not submitting the preliminary report. Moreover, the judge had directed that Pawan Kalyan should attend the hearing compulsorily this time as he had not done so in the first hearing. In this backdrop, the judge ordered the hearing on September 20th. The police are required to submit their preliminary findings to the court on or before August 26th. To note here, Nandini, the estranged wife of the actor had filed a bigamy case against her husband Pawan Kalyan and demanded alimony of Rs. 5 lakh per month. She cha

Every one of us may not be in the possession of assets that can be used in times of financial crisis. But what if some one needful does not have an asset to place for a loan? In such a situation, there is an opportunity that can be banked upon. It is called unsecured loans. For unsecured loans, no collateral is required to be pledged with the lender for acquiring money through the loan. Only the basic details like residential proof, age proof, employment proof etc have to be submitted to the lender for approval of unsecured loans. Through unsecured loans, an amount ranging from £1000-£25000 can be borrowed for any needs of the borrower like debt consolidation, home improvement, car purchase, vacations, wedding expenses etc. The repayment of unsecured loans has to be done in a term of 6 months to 10 years during which they have to pay monthly installments at a pre-decided rate of interest by the lender. The rate of interest for unsecured loans is higher as there is a high risk of n

Brand loyalty in the absence of television
The fact that brand loyalty begins by the age of two, with children recognizing brand logos by the age of three is old news. In fact, the research was published in the early 90's. It is a fact commonly exploited by early reading programs. I used it in my preschool classroom under the innocuous name of "environmental print." We spent reading time cutting out logos and gluing them in little books so my young charges could learn the letter "M" from a McDonald's sign, "W" from WalMart and "C" from Coca Cola.I never really viewed these activities as preparing the children to become consumers in the market. In fact, I viewed it more as exploiting the fact that they already were consumers to a higher end.My children do not watch very much television and virtually no advertisements. That does not make them less aware of the brands around them, and even my two year old recognizes her favorite haunts by the logos out front. But they do not seem to have the fierce loyalty I remember as a

Where I try to write too much to make up for my recent absence, bulletstyle:
First off, thanks for the massive response to my previous Wordless Wednesday post. In answer to the few questions I had regarding the photo - no, I'm actually a terrible gardener, so much so that my mother-in-law comes around sometimes to mow the lawn for me; I have no idea what type of roses they are - they could well be Don Juan climbing roses but they all sort of look the same to me; they were here when we moved in, I didn't plant them or anything; and last, I don't have the slightest idea if they smelt nice (they died a few weeks ago I've just been lazy about posting the photo) because I hardly ever go out into my back garden. I agree though, they do look pretty and they cheered me up as I stood at the kitchen sink doing dishes day after day...I am not pregnant. This is the real reason I haven't been posting of late. For the last three weeks, I could have sworn to you that I was pregnant and expecting a little girl. This is actually the second month in a row I thought I w

170 Los Angeles students to pay a price for absence
Tougher attendance rules will force more than one-quarter of eligible Carson High graduates to sit out commencement ceremonies.More than one-fourth of Carson High's graduates will miss commencement ceremonies because they missed too much school. About 170 of 665 eligible graduates won't don a cap and gown because they failed to show up for more than 60 hours of instruction this year or were late to class more than 15 times. This from the Los Angeles Times.

White’s Absence a Misunderstanding Claims Fisher
The furor of Titans running back LenDale White missing a voluntary practice on Tuesday has been put to rest, as Tennessee head coach Jeff Fisher said it was the result of a misunderstanding. While everyone was back at practice after having Memorial Day off for the Titans, White was not there, giving Fisher a shot to question the back. “I’m anxious to hear what kind of excuse he has,” Fisher said on Tuesday. That excuse was cleared up as it came out that White was in Denver to be with his grandmother, who was just out of intensive care after suffering major health problems that include kidney failure and heart failure. After hearing of the reason for not being with the team, Fisher was quick to backtrack and give his 2nd-year back the okay for not being there. “Organized team activities are voluntary, they are not mandatory. However, we have had perfect attendance with very few exceptions,” Fisher said. “When there is someone who is not in attendance,

Neil Cole - The Absence of Movements in America
Neil Cole, author of Organic Church and founder of Church Multiplication Associates, shared his perspective with me yesterday on the absence of movements in America. He observes that the church often gets in the way. The problem stems from consumer Christians who are willing to sit and soak and let the pastor serve them, instead of getting involved themselves. He asserts, “People in the pews are irresponsible, and pastors let them stay that way.” Codependent pastors allow dysfunctional churches to exist. This prevents missional movements from ever starting. Neil also recognizes that movements are more likely to happen overseas because of liminality. In many countries around the world there is a great struggle for Christians (including persecution) that purifies what it means to be a Christian. In the midst of that struggle, authentic followers of Jesus emerge that more naturally embody the mission and message of Jesus. They multiply disciples because that is the essence of foll

Miracle Weight Loss or Absence of Critical Thinking?
I found a fascinating example of how kind the media tends to be toward religious nonsense and suggest that this may be one of many factors which help keep people trapped in irrational belief. The content of this story, an obese pastor who found that the only way to lose weight was by changing his behavior, is only somewhat interesting. However, the way the account is infuriating to this atheist.According to this story from The Beacon News, pastor Robby Dawkins lost 200 pounds. He once weighed 425 pounds, and "the faithful man of God who firmly believes he has witnessed numerous miracles could not understand why his own prayers for weight loss went unanswered." Indeed, how could his god fail to answer his prayers? Never mind the millions of prayers from starving children which go unanswered every day - this "man of God" takes priority! But the good pastor seems to have come to his senses, at least partially. "I realized that God wasn't going to do it," Dawkins said. "This was a discipl

Solutions “In the absence of greater assistance being provided 23 million people stand on the verge of death, to sit by and do nothing is to participate in genocide.” - Cornelius Baker of the Walker Whitman Clinic in the United States It’s tragic but true. Adequate funding for HIV/AIDS prevention programs could prevent two-thirds of the predicted 45 million new cases this decade. Yet global contribution to these prevention program is vastly below what’s needed.Health systems in many developing countries with high rates of HIV are in crisis. So what are the solutions? Immediate funding, more qualified health workers, more training, more equipment, and better systems.Antiretroviral drugs for HIV, testing and diagnostic equipment, treatments for opportunistic infections and drug side-effects must be made available to everyone who needs them.Urgent national and international programmes are needed to support communities to care for vulnerabl

      The Absence of Missional Leaders
I’ve been thinking about the absence of missional leaders. I believe that there is a direct connection to the training pastors receive in seminary. I am so grateful for my seminary experience – however, it lacked any significant training to fulfill the mission of the church. I love that I was taught how to study God’s Word, to defend God’s Word and to teach God’s Word. I really enjoyed my systematic theology classes. I learned a lot in my church history and homiletics classes, too. However, as I reflect on my training, I had only one class on mission and evangelism. That was the only class that addressed the mission of the church. That’s the only class that attempted to equip me to equip others to fulfill Jesus’ mission for the church. Here’s the reality: Pastors are not trained for mission, neither are they trained to equip others for mission. Therefore, no one should be surprised that the mission isn’t being accomplished in America. I was surprised to learn r

Tequilia? Pardon my absence, but I've been locked...
Tequilia?Pardon my absence, but I've been locked in the sweatshop of my second job and haven't had a moment to myself; when I manage to get out of traffic and make it into my house all I want to do is eat some Reese's mini peanut butter cups and either zone out in front of the TV or collapse in my bed.Speaking of TV, Monday's Bachelor was a funny episode. Why the hell did Desiree keep calling Tequila "tequilia?" Idiot. And it didn't help her either; she got axed! My girl Sadie's made it through one more round, which I'm happy to see, but so did Evil Lisa and I'm not pleased about that. Why are men so blind? That's my question. Why are men so blind and actually fall for the shit we put out there? All women can see through one another's acts immediately and yet they don't have a clue. But moving on...Agnese also made it though, which I find ridiculous. Why, eh, do you, eh, want to, eh, es-speak with someone who no, eh, es-speak you language FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE?! My God,

Absence Makes the Heart Grow Forgetful
It's been almost three days now and still no sign of my husband. On Sunday he mentioned something about leaving for a job-related trip for the week but I can't remember all the boring details. All I know is that this is my third night going to be alone and I don't think I'm cut out for this single mom nonsense. I've done my best, but it's been 65 hours and I'm sure he would understand what I have to do.First things first. I'll go to the courthouse tomorrow and get my last name changed back to Benac. I can't be expected to keep his name as a constant reminder of past times when all I need right now is to move forward. As far as cleaning out his stuff, luckily that was done on day two of his absence. It never hurts to be overly thorough in cleaning and this time it paid off. I was itching to get rid of all his high school $10 t-shirts anyway. In order to ease the transition for my daughter, I'll just ask Penny if she wants an ice cream cone every time she asks about her Dadd

      The Luxury of Absence
I woke up this morning missing my father, in particular, and having a father, in general. I miss all those things that were fun about him, the feeling of being a man's daughter, and the ability to remember things with him. I have so many decisions to make, so many things I'd like to bounce off the loving confidence and experience of a father, a desire to step further into adulthood knowing there was the security of at least two parents. I don't know why I only have one out of six. (Amazing as she is!). And I don't love knowing he's not dead, just as if dead. And quite pickled. There was a time when it was generally agreed he was wonderful. The damage took years to show, but began to outweigh the man.Often I think of the things about myself that are like him, or learned from him. Things I like. It's strange having them just fall into the air, into time, unrecognized, with no familiar validation.Yesterday someone sent me one of those goofy emails about "Maya", meaning "things Maya

Leaky gut may occur from gluten even in absence of celiac disease
Zonulin levels are increased in celiac disease. However, chronic gluten (gliadin) exposure also affects zonulin in non-celiac intestine. The result is an increased gut permeability (or leaky gut). Just published in Gut is an article reporting abnormal claudin proteins result in patchy loss of barrier function or tight junctions (leaky gut) in active Crohn's disease. Drago et al published a report in the Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology in April 2006 that transient zonulin release could be triggered by exposure to gliadin even in normal intestine. An increase in intestinal permeability was noted in normal intestine though it was not as pronounced as in celiac disease patients. Intestinal tissue from celiac patients, even those in remission, exposed to gliadin demonstated a sustained increase in zonulin release resulting in significant and sustained increased intestinal permeability. Zonulin affects expression of the proteins claudin and occludin that constitute the cytoskele

Colitis and Irritable Bowel Syndrome Explained Based on Presence or Absence of Inflammation
In reflecting on how I can help empower people to understand what is going on in their bodies, make changes to achieve better health and be more effective advocates for themselves when dealing with doctors I realized I may need to define some terms more clearly. So, this post will briefly introduce the definition of inflammation and how its presence or absence separates colitis from irritable bowel syndrome (IBS. However, these distinctions may not be valid on the ultra structural level or in the role of food proteins and altered gut bacteria and yeast in causation.Colitis defined: Colitis is inflammation of the colon, also known as the large bowel or large intestine. Colitis can be acute or chronic. There are known causes of colitis and some forms of chronic forms of colitis that are of unknown cause. Colitis can be visually recognizable during scope examination of the colon or may be only found under biopsy examination of the lining or microscopic colitis. Inflammation defined: Infl
