The Park Hill neighborhood in Yonkers overlooks the Hudson River. The architecture is from the 19th Century with Victorians, Gothics, Revivals and Georgian Colonials. There are about 1200 properties that comprise this community. About half of the residents want to preserve with municipal lankmark status the feeling of the area. Half oppose that idea. So, finally after several years of discord, a lawsuit, and a lot of grumbling this past week the Ridge Hill Village development has been approved. Located on a large parcel near the Stew Leonards/Costco/Home Depot shopping area in Yonkers this will be retail and commercial space, 1000 apartments plus much more. Our seats were in the second row. What I meant, though, was they were at the end of the row and near the exit. April opened the program, and I read over her shoulder. The play was called Lost in Yonkers. The director told us why he picked the play. The audience hushed, and the lights went down. Two shadowy figures moved across the stage and took their positions. With one hand, I held April's hand in mine, our fingers mingled. In the other, I held my parents' cell phone. I pressed a button on the phone, and the screen lit up. No missed calls.
