Gwen Owens, a reporter for Comcast Channel 8 is one of those terrific, thoughtful, kind and intelligent people. A person we were lucky enough to meet because of Thumball. Gwen came to my elementary school in September 2007 to do a story on Thumball as an effective new learning tool which allows typically developing students to participate with non typically developing students in a fun way.Develop

Yoko Ono, the Japanese-American wife of the late Beatles star, John Lennon, will unveil the Imagine Peace Tower in Rekjavik, Iceland on October 9th. This date would have been the 67th birthday of Lennon who was killed by a mentally ill fanback in 1980.
Ono said, “This is something that we spoke about 40 years ago. Our dream is finally coming true,” said Ono, 74, in an interview with the Associated Press (courtesy of The Showbuzz/CBS). According to AP, “The Imagine Peace Tower is a stories-tall beam of light that will emanate from a wishing well bearing the words “imagine peace” in 24 languages.” The tower’s light will shine from Oct. 9 to Dec. 8 each year, “so it has the feeling of the shortness of life, but the light is eternal,” Ono said.
Ono came up with the light tower concept in 1965, and John Lennon was interested.
The AP article reports, “When she turned 70, Ono decided she needed a place to keep the thousand
Yoko Ono may yet write her autobiography despite a reluctance to deal with hostile critics -- Beatles fans who still blame her for breaking up the band But she also is worried about hurting the people she would write about."I want to one day do that probably but still don't have the time," Ono, the widow of slain former Beatle John Lennon, said at a forum in New York."There are things that I can't write because it may hurt someone," Ono said. "I think about how it might hurt (their) children, and I don't want to do that."Discussing her own art and music, Ono said she always thought of her work as Asian and rejected being categorized as part of the Fluxus, or minimalist movement prevalent in New York in the early 1960s."I knew John Cage and all that," Ono said of the composer associated with the movement. "But I don't think that was how I should be explained."She said that after Lennon's 1980 murder in front of their home at the Dakota building in Manhattan she considered moving be
Three Days in the Life, which is the documentary about Beatle John Lennon, was due to have its world premiere but has been cancelled by Yoko Ono. The reason for the cancelation of the documentary was that Yoko had not authorized Three Days in the Life for public viewing according to lawyers for Lennon’s Widow.
The executive producer of the documentary Ray Thomas had managed to get raw footage from inside Lennon’s apartment. There was hours of footage but Thomas had managed to squeeze it down to two and a half hours. The former husband of Ono Tony Cox had filmed the footage. The footage had been shot just three days before the Beatles split.

Yoko Ono sued music company EMI Group PLC and a subsidiary for $10 million Wednesday, claiming she was cheated out of royalties due from the sale of music recordings by her late husband, John Lennon. The lawsuit, filed in Manhattan's state Supreme Court, accuses EMI and Capitol Records Inc. of violating a half-dozen agreements by "willfully and knowingly underreporting royalties" by hiding the "true use and disposition of Lennon's recordings."Ono's three-page filing, which included a summons and notice but no detailed complaint, also accuses EMI and Capitol of "intentionally and systematically rendering dishonest and grossly deficient accounting statements."A spokeswoman for EMI/Capitol, Jeanne Meyer, would not discuss Ono's lawsuit specifically, but she said, "Artists from time to time request audits of their royalty accounts. Sometimes there are differences of opinion, which is understandable given the complex nature of recording contracts."Meyer said the contracts are sometimes s
Yoko Ono, the widow of famous British singer John Lennon, will join an international art exhibition named "Liberation" in four museums in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday.Ono will display four works, including "Bed In" and "War is Over", which were created by her and John Lennon and communicated the message of protests against the US war in Vietnam"Bed In" or "Peace Bed", a camera film, was made in their honeymoon in Amsterdam in 1969.It goes along with a well-known antiwar song "Give Peace a Chance" composed by John. The film will be shown on the wall. Her two new works, "Onochord" and "Imagine Peace", will also be displayed this time.In general, the four works demonstrate the style of conceptual art; the viewers will sing Ono's chord together or stamp peace marks on some places on a big map where they think about peace. The exhibition will be held in Arts Ton Duc Thang, War Remnants Museum, and the Southern Women's Museum with the participation of more th
Isn't this the opposite of giving peace a chance? New York police arrested chauffeur Koral Karsan Wednesday for allegedly trying to bilk Yoko Ono for $2 million. The 50-year-old man, who reportedly worked for Ono for at least six years, has been charged with first-degree attempted grand larceny in a case that a Manhattan prosecutor called "truly overwhelming."According to a letter written by the defendant that was read in Manhattan Criminal Court Thursday morning, Karsan claimed to have people "on standby waiting to kill the victim on his orders" and was planning to move to Turkey and pen a tell-all book about John Lennon's widow if she didn't meet his demands, prosecutor Maureen O'Connor said.Police said that authorities were alerted after Karsan dropped off the above note—and a photo of Ono in her nightclothes—in front of the Dakota apartment building, where Ono has lived since the 1970s. Karsan is said to have picked Dec. 8—the 26th anniversary of Lennon's death—to rela

And that's it: the whole story, via contactmusic.com. While some of us have never forgiven the former Mrs. John Lennon for breaking-up the Beatles, this stunning example of political incorrectness is bound to awaken an entirely new generation of Ono detractors. You know, provided she said it. 'Cause we can't find the origin of this remark, which the aforementioned Beatles fans are sure to spread throughout cyberspace (with our help). Anyway, THIS is the time for Lexus PR to step up to the plate and promote their forthcoming 600h L. Something tells me Ms. Ono wouldn't mind accepting a free loaner in exchange for promoting the world's most expensive-- and luxurious-- hybrid. Of course, she'd need to keep making stupid statements to get enough publicity to make it worth their while, and God knows WHAT she might say. I dunno, something like, curry powder prevents Alzheimer's. Wait, done.
{mosgoogle right}NEW YORK (AP) -- A judge has promised a fast decision in a lawsuit brought by Yoko Ono to remove the song "Imagine" from a movie challenging the concept of Darwinian evolution after a lawyer for the film's distributors warned the litigation could wreck the movie's political message.U.S. District Judge Sidney Stein said he will rule quickly in the case after both sides described th
