With everything go on in March for me (vacation, work change - I got a promotion, etc), I completely forgot that my blog's one year anniversary is this month. Well it's been 1 year since I started the blog, and this is also the 1 year anniversary of my heart attack. Quite a moment of reflection... A lot of new things have come and old habits have gone. I learned that we are not promised another day, and that it can all be over in a blink of an eye. It's been a really scary time and to some extent it still is.I've also learned of all the government red tape regarding disability and SSI. It's been hell and been through 2 denials and working on a 3rd appeal and going to court over the whole mess. Three years ago I got engaged. I was at Lily Bay State Park in Maine on Moosehead Lake. My wife Allison (girlfriend at the time) and I had just finished a day on the water. If you have never been to Moosehead lake to paddle you are missing out. I wanted the proposal to be something memorable and I wanted to do it while paddling. The problem is that diamond rings and water are not the best mixture. I mean, what if I tried to give her the ring and it slipped from my fingers and she went after it and got tossed in the water. That would certainly be a memorable story but not a very happy ending. So I decided to wait till we landed to propose and that made all the difference.

Time flies when you are having fun, or so I am told! It's hard to believe that it was 3-years ago today that I registered the domain name of www.poscribes.com. Happy Anniversary! Those that know me, are familiar with the symbolism of the name but for those that aren't I will provide a quick recap. In a previous life I was a member of Her Majesty's Royal Navy serving in the Writers Branch. The job itself covers mostly clerical type duties (to keep it short and non-specific!) Anyway, members of the Writers Branch are historically referred to as 'scribes' because of their role dating back to times when quill pens were used to scribe information into ledgers and journals.
