Three years ago I got engaged. I was at Lily Bay State Park in Maine on Moosehead Lake. My wife Allison (girlfriend at the time) and I had just finished a day on the water. If you have never been to Moosehead lake to paddle you are missing out. I wanted the proposal to be something memorable and I wanted to do it while paddling. The problem is that diamond rings and water are not the best mixture. I mean, what if I tried to give her the ring and it slipped from my fingers and she went after it and got tossed in the water. That would certainly be a memorable story but not a very happy ending. So I decided to wait till we landed to propose and that made all the difference.
