      Sexson: Yankees Sign Power Struggler
In a bid to move out of third place in the AL East, the enterprising New York Yankees reached an agreement with slugger Richie Sexson. The move is easily justified when you consider that NY will pay Sexson a pro-rated share of the league minimum salary, $390,000, leaving the Mariners to cover the remainder [...]

      Yankees Officially Sign Sexson

MLB to Add a “Crybaby” league for Yankees and Red Sox Fans

Subway Series Delivers Embarrasment To Girardi, Yankees
Filip Bondy/New York Daily News:During the ninth inning Sunday night at Yankee Stadium, the lame-duck cathedral sounded as if there were only Met fans left in the Bronx. The visitors were up by nine, on the way to an 11-2 clobbering. The fans with the curlicue N-Y's on their caps stood and cheered, alone, triumphant. It was hard to imagine a more humiliating moment for the Yanks and their new mana

El nativo de Culiacán completó su labor con 4 ponches y dos pasaportes; las únicas [...]

      Yankees Lose 11-2, Embarassed Again
Anthony McCarron/New York Daily News:It was never supposed to be this way in the final Subway Series at Yankee Stadium - Met fans hanging around the old park at the end of the abbreviated two-game set watching their team rout the hosts, making more noise than the Yankee faithful. But this is quickly turning into a dreary Yankee season, one in which a team that once made a dynasty of taking advanta

As Subway Series arrives, both Yankees and Mets limp in
The headline tells it all — the Mets and Yankees are both limping into this first round of the annual Subway Series. I found these Mets and Yanks logos online, and they definitely tell a great story. Will either team really care enough to win tonight or throughout the weekend? We will soon find out...

      YANKEES TOCA FONDO

      Rays Take Three-Of-Four From Yankees
Shawn Riggans smacked a two-run homer and scored twice as the red-hot Rays downed the Yankees, 5-2, in the finale of a four-game set at Tropicana Field. Akinori Iwamura hit a solo shot, and B.J. Upton and Carl Crawford each plated a run for Tampa Bay, which took three-of-four in the series. Scott Kazmir tossed six scoreless innings to improve to 2-and-1 with the win. Troy Percival struck out tw

New York Yankees @ Tampa Bay Rays - MLB

Remember When The Yankees Got Off To A Slow Start?
The Yankees are notorious for their slow starts...case in point below (sorry for the long post but I think it is stuff everyone should read):1995: Bombers get off to a 10-5 start. Everyone starts thinking, "Hey, the good times are back for good." They're still OK on May 21 at 12-9, but then the crapper falls off the caboose: They lose 10 of 11. Now they're 13-19, so it's time to drink the Drano, r

The Yankees Need The Captain's Bat
Wallace Matthews/Newsday.com:Derek Jeter had a poor night Friday, going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. The second came in the eighth inning on a check swing that had the normally stoic Jeter jawing briefly with plate umpire Brian Gorman."It's frustrating whenever you lose," Jeter said, although in his case the frustration may run deeper than that. Counting last night, Jeter has now gone 120 at-bats this season without a home run, the second-longest homerless drought of his career, not counting the 2003 season when he was knocked out on Opening Night with a separated shoulder. That leaves him just six at-bats short of the only slower start of his career, in 2001, when it took him 126 at-bats to hit his first homer. He finished that season with 21, the second-highest total of his career, but th

Yankees Could Recall Kennedy For Wednesday
Ed Price/NJ.Com:I just checked, and as far as I can tell, Ian Kennedy could be called back up to start Wednesday at Tampa Bay instead of Kei Igawa. Before tonight's game, manager Joe Girardi said "there's no situation we've talked (about) as of right now" that would keep the Yankees from starting Igawa again Wednesday at Tampa Bay. But that was before tonight's awful performance. Baseball rules require an optioned player, such as Kennedy, to spend 10 days in the minors before returning (unless he replaces a player put on the disabled list). Kennedy was optioned last Sunday, so the 10th day is Tuesday. From what I am told, the 10-day count begins the day of the assignment, not the day the player physically reports to the minor-league team (last Monday, in Kennedy's case). The bottom line: I
