      Yard sale and pig roast
Went to the yard sale at Canucks this morning met up with Lara and Carole. Lara came back with us to chill out a bit before we go back for the pig roast. The whole meal was great but I have to say the potatoes and beans were especially deluscious. It got quite windy and we thought the sky was going to throw down some rain but it never quite happened - wind just blew chairs around instead.BBQ number

      a yard sale?
YepA good friend and local flyer has decided to get out of kite flying for other pursuits. He approached me about liquidating his collection. I said "Of course!".Most of these kites and things I sold Bob, and I know that he takes care of his things. There is some neat stuff on the list. There is some one-of-a-kind things, there is some mass produced items, there is a lot of line! The list of

Hats Off to the Regent Square Neighborhood Yard Sale
Yesterday was the annual Regent Square Neighborhood Yard Sale, and the weather was fine and the competition fierce. I put on my comfiest walking shoes, hooded sweatshirt and jacket to protect against the morning damp and parked in a central location, so carting treasures might be just a bit easier. With this good early start in the morning, you'd think I'd have been alone in my quest. Ah, but a hom

      Yard Sale Tips
Here are some tips for making "garage saling" fun and worthwhile: 1. Keep a list of things you are looking for that you *know* you need or want. Often Im looking for certain garden equipment, kitchen utensils, tools, etc. that I can live without until I find a good deal. 2. Find a good route, in a fairly affluent area, and follow the route and signs along the way. I dont mean for this to sound snobbish, but I have often found the best quality items in more affluent areas. Generally speaking, clothes, toys, and other items are in great condition because they have a faster turnover as they replace their inventory more often. Youll save gas by following a particular route once youve found an area you like rather than driving in all directions. 3. Get to know your prices, just as y

Selling your first Pallet of closeout merchandise at a Garage or Yard Sale
I would venture to say that a lot of readers here are researching a liquidation or closeout company to buy from with the hopes of making a first initial purchase. It really does not matter if you are planning to buy a pallet or a small lot of general merchandise, electronics or even apparel most [...]

      Rocky's Yard Sale
Humans! I swear!! What is it with them and their mindless consumerism, anyway? I mean, I'm ready to get back to work building my Artsy Catsy business, but these two human artists have accumulated so much STUFF in my corporate office that I was forced to have a yard sale this weekend so I could have room to work. A CEO must have his space, after all!First I had to make zillions of signs and then prowl all over town to put them up. (I used orange paint so if I splashed myself it would look like just another of my handsome, if I do say so myself, ginger spots.)Then I had to go through their jam-packed closets and drag out all the clothes they never wear, then haul them out to the yard. Every cent they spend on clothes is a cent they don't spend on Temptations, so out with the clothes!Just look at this stuff they'd piled up! A kiddie pool? We don't even have a kid! And what the heck is THIS, I ask you:What, we don't have enough cats around here? Let me tell you, I stuck a bargain base

      Yard Sale Monkey
$20 for a rampaging monkeyA while back I had a strange thing happen to me. I was checking out a local yard sale and there it was, a living, breathing monkey smoking a cigarette with a post-it note on its forehead that read: “$20”. “Excuse me are you really selling a monkey?” I asked the old man that was in charge of the second-hand sale. “That’s right.” He replied as he spit a wad of tobacco on the grass. “You wanna buy it or what?” “I’m not sure my lease allows it. And it has a smoking habit.” “He has a job, he buys his own smokes.” I woke up the next day noticing something was odd about my monkey. He looked different. I mean he was the same just that something wasn’t quite right. The third day I figured out what it was: my monkey was growing and the change has suddenly become exponential. He also required more and more food, which was becoming a big problem, especially with rent due soon. After a week, my monkey was huge, and I had to keep him o

      Yard Sale…On the tennis court.
This past Saturday the apartment complex I live in had it’s annual yard sale. Pretty much anybody who lives there can sign up and sell stuff. Being that I’m moving and need to get rid of a lot of junk, I decided to sign myself up and give it a shot. Kara also decided to sign up to sell some things as well. We were kind of wondering how people would find out about it or if we would be the only people out at 8am selling anything. Saturday morning came early and Kara met me and we walked over to the tennis courts to see where our table would be. We eventually got everything set up and displayed. We had a lot, but not as much as others. One lady looked like Mrs. Claus selling all kinds of Christmas decorations and such. Another lady across from us had all sorts of little knick-knacks and she kept eyeballing us as we brought stuff out. These people looked professional! Well, the sale started at 8am and we made our first sale at 7:30am. Turns out the lady who was eyeballing us li

      Yard Sale Toys
Alex in January at his first birthday party. As Alex laughs yet again this morning while playing with his Graco Entertainer, I find myself amazed that we almost never bought the thing. Actually, I never bought it at all. Grams gets all the credit for that particular purchase, but the fact remains it almost didn’t go home with us. Why? Because we saw it a yard sale. Now I’m not going to sit here and pretend that I am too good to buy clothes, toys and lord knows what else at a yard sale. Some of Alex’s cutest outfits, and many, MANY of my own possessions have been found this way. I adore going out on a Saturday morning shopping knowing I can end up with fifteen different must haves and only be out five dollars. In fact, I may well be the world’s biggest yard sale supporter (next to my mother and grandmother of course, they taught me everything I know). But larger purchases from a yard sale always require some serious pow-wowing before hand. “Do yo
