Kestner and a passenger had to be cut from the Corsica and flown to the UVA Medical Center. State police say alcohol and high speed may be to blame. Charges are pending.

Amid the stress of selling/moving/packing our house I’m also dealing with the loss of my Father in law. It hit me hard on Thanksgiving day. We had just come back from Randy’s grandmother’s house and we were at my mom’s house and I was smiling at my dad talking to my son. And it hit me. I didn’t see Randy’s dad today. He will never smile at my kids again. He will never hug them, touch them, love them again. He’s gone. I started bawling my eyes out. Isn’t it weird how you just get hit emotionally like that sometimes? I couldn’t stop crying. Randy even said to me oh man we’re in real trouble when your parents die.

WAYNESBORO POLICE DEPARTMENTMEDIA RELEASEOn Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at approximately 3:43pm the Waynesboro Police Department responded to a report of a traffic accident at the intersection of King Avenue and Ivy Street involving a Waynesboro City Public Schools bus. The result of the investigation determined that Allen Knotts Jr., 37, of Waynesboro was attempting to cross the intersection on Ivy Street in front of the school bus that was traveling northbound on King Avenue. Knott failed to yield the right-of way to the school bus. The school bus struck Knott’s vehicle in the intersection. Knott’s vehicle then struck a third vehicle that was legally stopped at the intersection. Knott was subsequently charged with violation of Virginia code section 46.2-820 fail to yield right-of-way. No injuries were reported on the school bus. Two other injuries were reported from the other vehicles involved. One was transported to Augusta Medical Center.

September 26, 2007 - 6:15 pm Poplar Ave and 12th st. Jonna Kalinsky driving a 2004 Toyoda pickup broadsided a 1990 Dodge van driven by Israel Gazman. The collision cosed the van to flip on to its roof when it was struck by the pickup truck. Kalinsky was traveling north on Poplar Ave and Gazman was traveling west on 12th st. The cause of the wreck was Kalinsky failed to stop at a stop sign. There was one man transported to the hospital with non life threating injuries. The 4 other occupance of the van had no injuries. It took 1hr and 45 minutes to clear the wreck from the road. Speed was not a factor and Kalinsky is being charged with failing to stop at a stop sign. Photo/Story Nathan Combs
The man that was killed yesterday afternoon on a dirt bike, and had collied with another bike on Galena Rd. name has been released by the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office.Tim Protil, 38, of 307 Monument Drive, Staunton, was killed at the scene. He had suffered severe head trauma.The other rider Robert Gilbert, 39, suffered abdominal and chest injuries in the crash and taken by hellocopter to UVA. Gilbert is the property owner where the wreck happend. The Sheriff’s Office has not been able to determine what happened.Photo/Story Nathan Combs
September 23, 2007 - 4:00 pm Galena Rd. Two men in there 30s collided whill riding dirt bikes on privet property. The names of the men where not released at this time. One man was killed in the wreck and the other was flown to UVA Medical Center. They where both waring helmets and other protective gear. The couse of the wreck is under investigation as to how it happened. there will be no charges filed.Photo/Story Nathan Combs

UpdateAt 11:45 pm a Ford Mustang driving at a high rate of speed was coming off the exit ramp from I-64 when it struck a guard rail. The car lost power causing its head lights to go out. The two tractor trailers that were traveling north did not see the car and hit it. The driver was thrown from the car and was found on the right side of the road where paramedics prepared him to be transported to UVA by helicopter. It was unclear if the driver was wearing his seat belt. The passenger of the car was wearing a seat belt and was taken out of the car and transported by ambulance to AMC. No truck driver was injured, but both trucks had to be towed from the interstate. Virgina State Police believe that the driver of the Mustang had been drinking and are awaiting a blood test to determine his blood alcohol content. I-81 was reopened at 5:06 am in both lanes of travel. The names of the driver and passenger of the car have not been released because of their injuries and pending notifications of
Good news for java junkies: You don’t have to skip your caffeine fix to get in a good workout — even in the hot summer months when coffee’s widely believed to promote dehydration.
What’s more, a caffeinated beverage may actually help you exercise longer.
“For years, people have believed that consuming caffeine would dehydrate the body or result in an electrolyte imbalance or that it might affect body temperature and have a negative impact on heat tolerance during exercise,” says Lawrence Armstrong, a professor of exercise physiology at the Human Performance Laboratory at the University of Connecticut in Storrs.
“Our research indicates that none of these concerns is valid,” he says.
Fitness experts and dietitians have long advised that exercisers drink up before and during physical activity — but avoid caffeine.

August 26, 2007 - 11:08 pm Kiddsvill Rd. A 3 vehicle wreck that sent 2 people to be hospital was cosed by alcohol. Adam Tibs driving a GMC Yukon hit a ford -F450 driven by Daniel Hughes. There was a one other vehicle that had miner damage. Tibs and Hughes where taken to AMC. Tibs is charged with DUI.
August 25, 2007 - Rt. 11 near Mint Springs 1:30 am The State Police are not releasing the name of a 21 year old man that wrecked his motorcycle at speeds of about 100 mph. It started when a Augusta Co. deputy tryed to pull over the man traveling South, the driver then sped up went over a hill and by the time the deputy regained sight of the man, he had wrecked. The driver had suffered head trauma, Air Care was called but did not have a safe place to land at the Wreck so the man was taken to AMC then to UVA by helicopter. Saturday was my birthday. Yesterday the Girl Who Drinks and I were involved in a car wreck which totalled her car. After being struck on the back end, her car fishtailed sending us straight in the concrete barrier on the side of the highway where we bounced off, spun around, and crossed the length of the highway to once again smash straight into the opposite side's concrete barrier. The Girl Who Drinks suffered a minor scratch to the foot and some whiplash while I hit my head on the side of the car and had some whiplash which left me with some pain in my back and neck. After a couple of hours in the hospital for x-rays and a CT scan they let me go with some pain relievers and muscle relaxers. August 16 2007 - 100.1 on 64 E bound 10:59 am, Marie E. Lopez-Vega 29, of Waynesboro was fatly injured when her 91 Ford Explore over turned. The accident was caused by when tread separated from a tire. Lopez-Vega then lost control of the SUV, hitting a guard real flipping the Explore throwing Lopez-Vega out of the SUV.
