Renewable Energy or How I Learned To Love A World Without Oil
In Dr Strangelove or "How, I Learnt to stop worrying and Love the Bomb", we see the crazy potential of a nuclear war become a reality. Our economies have become so dependent on oil, it seems equally crazy that we could live without oil; thus rising oil prices spark an instinctive fear, especially amongst oil importers. However, a world without oil is not only possible, but, at some time an inevit

The Economic Effects of a World Without Oil.
As oil prices keep increasing, many are looking to a future without oil. It is hoped that if oil prices keep rising, alternatives will be developed and this will enable a smooth transition. Already, car manufacturers have cars which run on hydrogen, natural gas, even solar panel. The longer oil prices rises, the more attractive these options will be. It is not unfeasible that in a decade, we will

My Attraction to A World Without Color
A few weeks back, I posted a poll asking what I should write about. One of the more popular questions was “What’s the attraction of B/W and how do you pick which photos to process that way?” asked by Neil Creek. That’s a really great question, but its one that I hadn’t thought about prior to being asked. I suppose I am a little heavy on the black & white stuff on my Flickr Stream,

      A World Without Internet
"One day the citizens of South Park wake up and find the Internet is gone. When Randy hears there may still be some Internet out in California, he packs up his family and heads west." This was last night's episode on South Park. On the episode titled "Over Logging", the world almost ends after no one can connect to the Internet. The brave Kyle comes to the rescue and saves the Internet in a genius move. I don't want to spoil how it goes so just watch the whole episode for yourself or preview this short clip from the episode:

      A world without money lenders
It is becoming increasingly clear that the UK's housing boom wasn't caused by a lack of supply and heightened demand, but rather by slack lending practices by the banks. The proof can be seen now that cheap credit has been taken away and house prices have almost immediately started to drop. The question this makes me ask is what would happen if there were no mortgages? Presumably houses would be cheaper, essentially costing whatever they cost to build plus some kind of profit for the builder. And wouldn't we all be richer, since we wouldn't need to service such big debts? OK, we'd all have to save up some money to buy a place, but this would be easier since renting would also be cheaper, given that landlords would have a smaller outlay to buy a place and hence would be happy with a lower

Navtej Kohli gives a collection of views on the review for "Creating a World Without Poverty:Social Business and the Future of Capitalism" By Muhammad Yunus. An inspiring volume full of practical information on alleviating poverty. Some may be skeptical of his ideas, especially a "social stock market."Muhammad Yunus is a humble man who would resist being compared to Mahatma Gandhi. But the two have much in common as campaigners for social progress. While Gandhi's goal was the end of colonialism, Yunus' is just as grand: He means to reform capitalism to make it a tool for ending poverty. Read the whole story on businessweek. It's a big old world without god
From L.E.B.I was only a Christian for a few years, of my own choosing, and I am glad my parents were a-religious. They didn't brainwash us to anything except treat other people nicely. I did the same with my own kids and though sometimes I worry they don't "fit in," they all know how to think logically. I don't hold a lot of animosity toward the ‘church,’ anymore. A World Without Cheap Self Storage
A World Without Cheap Self Storage   If we had no cheap self storage our world would be in chaos. Everyday our world gets smaller and smaller because we consume more and more of our personal storage . Houses are larger than ever designed with gigantic storage space , but it is never big enough. Humans will always find ways to fill up every inch of an empty space. This is the reason for the cheap self storage boom in the last decade. If cheap self storage did not exist the world would go mad.   What would you do with your nice furniture if your new house was not ready for you to move in and the new owners of your old house are settled? This is a very common scenario in today’s fast paced society. With the variety between real estate markets people relocating to a

World Without End - Ken Follett
Review - After Reading "Pillars of the Earth" I could not wait to read this one and purchased World Without End as soon as it was released. From the very first chapter I was captured by this book and immediately entered into the world of medieval Britain and into the lives of ordinary people living and working in towns and villages."World Without End" has many of the themes of “pillars of the Earth”, but with a new building project being one of the story-lines, Follett makes this book feel fresh and new. This book is a long read and has a thousand plus pages, but the characters are interesting and you get a real sense of their personalities and their lives. You need not have read “Pillars of the Earth” to understand “World Without End” since this book is set two hundred years la

More than before, economic and social gaps are widening particularly in urban areas. One of a major factor that blocks the poor still being poor is that they have no money to produce money. Being able to live out of the box of poverty is a basic human right. Recently one of many solutions stands out and captured attentions of many of those who are concerned with the welfare of the poor. A World Without Microsoft
Software Exactly how would the computing world feel without Microsoft? What if Microsoft just closed their doors? Gates and Ballmer just got up and left with nothing more than a This is boring, how would the computing world be effected.I mean, they just shutdown Microsoft: they didnt release any of their products open source, because, they really dont care, rather, they just got up and left.Gates is quoted saying, quite often, that hell run Microsoft until he gets sick of it, so, what if that day came? Does that mean he enjoys being picked on by the entire geek crowd, and hated by half the country? The possibility actually exists for Microsoft to just pay out all the stock holders their share of the company and just cease to exist, and, to be honest, theres little reason

Peter and Gordon - A World Without Love (1964)
Peter Asher és Gordon Waller a hatvanas évek közepének népszerű brit duóját alkották, s egyik legnagyobb slágerüket - jelen album címadó dalát - nem kisebb szerzőpáros jegyzi mint a két Beatle: Lennon és McCartney. Bár nagyon tehetséges és sikeres duó voltak, mivel kizárólag mások dalainak előadásával, feldolgozásával léptek színre, pályafutásuk viszonylag hamar végetért. Peter Asher előadói pályafutása befejezését követően, 1968-ban producerként kezdett dolgozni, James Taylor pályafutását is ő egyengette.A képen látható CD másik nagylemezét később szintén szeretném bemutatni.A World Without LoveA számok:01. What Is Bluetooth - A World Without Wires
By Christopher W Smith Bluetooth technology was created in order to allow ordinary technology users to enjoy the benefits of low bandwidth wireless connections. It is able to do this by using radio waves to send and receive data at up to 720 kilobits per second.Bluetooth SpecsThe specifications for Bluetooth devices allows for different classes of radio transmission ranges. Imagine a World without Liberals
A few weeks ago, I created a profile on Myspace and posted some of my more controversial blogs there in order to gain more traffic and readership to this blog. While it’s not the most effective media channel for driving web traffic, I have had the pleasure of meeting some fellow conservative bloggers that have some really great (and hilarious) things to say. One such blogger was a 19 year old female who goes by the name of the Bulgarian Queen. Don’t be fooled by her Shakira background on her profile; she is quite the bulldog and will eat you liberals for breakfast. She posted a similar post to the following a few weeks ago which became my inspiration for writing this.  Now sit back, close your eyes and imagine a World without Liberals! There would be: No more spineless, moronic Ron Paul Myspace bloggers that vomit out garbage about his ‘’real character.” Yes indeed, there are several Ron Paul supporters on Myspace.  I don’t really have anything against

      A World without Microsoft
I'm interested in figuring out how we can build a Net that is a lot less prone to viruses and spam, and not just by putting in filters and setting up caches to test things before they get into your computer. That doesn't really solve anything. We need an evolutionary step of some sort, or we need to look at the problem in a different way.My own biggest mistake in the last 20 years was that sometimes I designed solutions for problems that people didn't yet know they had. That's why some of the things that could've made a difference couldn't find a market. When people get hit between the eyes with a two-by-four by these viruses, they know they have a problem. Still, the right time to address it would have been a while ago. The hardest part isn't inventing the solution but figuring out how to get people to adopt it.Is it really fair to blame Microsoft for so many of the Net's woes? The problem with Windows isn't so much that it's insecure, but that it is stale. The company has fla

      A World Without Fish?
I found this article from Fortune Magazine quite interesting. Could you imagine there being no seafood within the next 50 years? I had no idea about the different types of fish that are disappearing and the environmental issues related to farm fishing. Let's see...chicken = bird flu, beef = mad cow, and no fish on the menu. Perhaps in the future I may have to rethink that vegetarian thing.Rothfamilyadventures.com
