Sprint has followed Verizon in announcing BlackBerry 8830 World Edition smartphone. Spring will launch the world phone next month. This smart device, developed by Research In Motion (RIM), is the first BlackBerry smartphone with international voice and data roaming capabilities offered by Sprint and will feature unlocked SIM capabilities for voice and data services. Last April Verizon announced they were also launching the world smartphone. The BlackBerry 8830 operates domestically on the Sprint Mobile Broadband Network, and globally on CDMA and GSM/GPRS networks where Sprint has international roaming agreements. This is the first global CDMA/GSM BlackBerry with new Global BlackBerry service for an "always-on, always connected" wireless email solution. BlackBerry 8830 World Edition AnnouncedVerizon Wireless has officially announced BlackBerry 8830 World Edition - CDMA/GSM smartphone. The BlackBerry 8830 has media player, speakerphone, voice-activated dialing, conference calling, 64MB internal memory, a microSD expansion slot, Bluetooth with tethered or wireless dial-up networking abilities (though Verizon will probably disable it) and BlackBerry 8830 push e-mail solution with support for Microsoft Exchange, IBM Lotus Domino, or Novell GroupWise. The battery life is rated at 3.6 hours talk time and up to 9 days of standby.
Verizon Wireless will start BlackBerry 8830 sell's on 14th May. It will cost 299$.
