The basis of any success is having motivation. If there is one there is the other. They coexist with each other and pass the path side by side. The importance of motivation, especially at work is the main step forward to the productive accomplishment of the work. Motivation is mostly individual, and different people define from various point of view. The most noticeable one is the environment.• 49% say an office makeover would increase their productivity.• More than half would be more organised and enjoy work more in a better office.• 43% embarrassed by current offices.• Friendly co-workers and good lighting key.Priorities are determined by the work force. Texas Governor Rick Perry’s appointment of former state GOP chairman Tom Pauken to the “public” seat on the Texas Workforce Commission has drawn the fire of state labor leaders, as expected:
Texas AFL-CIO president Becky Moeller blasted the appointment, saying that Mr. Pauken is too much of a conservative “ideologue” to help workers needing fair treatment to get top-notch training or recover from layoffs.
“Tom Pauken has a long record of advocacy for right-wing views and even battled George W. Bush and John Cornyn because he thought they were too liberal. This does not bode well for working people who need a Workforce Commission that will seriously consider all sides of workplace issues,” Ms. Moeller said.

"There may have been a period of disregard for the older worker," "Now they're seen as responsible and reliable - and are valued.Ruth Maria Adria The Elder Advocates Society of Alberta cha

AOL parent company Time Warner is cutting 2,000 jobs across the AOL division, including 750 positions in Northern Virginia.About 1,200 of the cuts will be in the U.S., with the balance of layoffs coming at AOL operations outside of the U.S. The company will notify affected U.S. employees Tuesday, says AOL spokeswoman Anne Bentley. The rest of the reductions are expected to be made by the end of the year, she says. The cuts represent about 20 percent of AOL's worldwide workforce. AOL has about 4,000 employees in Northern Virginia."This realignment will allow us to increase investment in high-growth areas of the company - as an example, we added hundreds of people this year through acquisitions - while scaling back in areas with less growth potential or those that aren't core to our business," Time Warner chief executive Randy Falco said in a memo to AOL employees obtained by the Washington Business Journal. Financially-challenged US ISP Earthlink said on Tuesday it will slash about half its workforce after failing to ride the broadband wave Stateside.
The Atlanta-based firm will can 900 staff as part of a sweeping cost-cutting exercise. It also lowered its revenue predictions for the third time this year to between $1.19bn and $1.21bn.
Recently appointed CEO Rolla Huff opened up a can of management speak: “While we see this as an important first step in unlocking the underlying value that we believe is in our company, we are only eight weeks into the process of repositioning EarthLink for the future.” More cuts could be on the way, he added.
Earthlink is suffering as its dial-up hold outs finally make the switch to broadband from other providers. Its belated high-speed strategy was to involve itself heavily with municipal Wi-Fi projects, but that has stalled because of privacy and network quality concerns over its flagship San Franci
As I was cruising on the 405 this weekend fighting off the 93 degree humid weather, something was stickier than the air and that was the new message being spouted off over the airwaves pertaining to the housing market. Like listening to a compulsive liar, at this point I am amused at what is being presented as investment advice. The stock market seems pacified with the Fed’s actions even though

THE HABERMAN INTERNATIONAL POLICY INSTITUTE IN EDUCATION have found a problem and they're out to correct it:
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE OF THE HABERMAN INTERNATIONAL POLICY INSTITUTE IN EDUCATION
Problem: Employers throughout the United States and the developing world have one thing in common: the need for entry-level workers with decent basic skills, a solid work ethic, personal responsibility, computer savvy, and the ability to function effectively on teams. And schools, particularly in large cities, are failing to produce enough of these kinds of workers.
1. A kid can go through twelve years of basic education and not have "decent" basic skills. If they can't get them in twelve years, HIPIE will do it in one?
2. A solid work ethic? How do you teach pre-teens a solid work ethic? Singing "work is good" songs. Really, how?
3. Personal responsibility. Again, unless imbued with such an ethic from an early age or forced to by need-like hunger- this is a tough sell. In fact,
A new report by PriceWaterhouseCoopers says the U.S. medical workforce system needs resuscitative care. It says that even though there are more doctors and nurses today than ever before, they are not being trained, distributed or deployed efficiently. A huge decline in the number of nurses will begin in less than three years but hospital employers are still in denial about just bad nurses feel about their work conditions.Read the official media release on the PriceWaterhouseCoopers report here.
The Orange County Business Council recently unveiled the results of a yearlong study into how well each Orange County city is doing in providing housing for its growing workforce. The study concluded that home building lags behind job growth and if the trend continues, the lack of workforce housing could hamper the local economy. (See the press release HERE and the full report HERE.) To get the scoop on what's behind this effort, we spoke with OCBC's research guru Wallace Walrod (he's actually a Ph.D.) and OCBC CEO Lucy Dunn (who also is the former California housing director) ...
Us: Whats the housing scorecard and why are you putting this together?
Wallace: Because our housing supply hasnt kept up with our job creation we have had a couple of very troubling situations arise. One is obvious to everyone everyday, that traffic keeps increasing and especially commuting traffic into Orange County, primarily from the Inland Empire, but also from San Diego and L.A. County. So every
