Wolfman SightedThe first pictures of Benicio Del Torro as The Wolfman are now online, and they look, well... bloody! This is good news. When I first heard that journeyman Joe Johnston was helming the horror I was afraid that the film would be family friendly (how much alliteration can you fit in one sentence?!). This looks like the real deal. There isn't a great whole lot to see - just Del Torro looking haggard in tight black jeans (never a good look) with crew and Anthony Hopkins hanging around. At least they're shooting this sucker, and the gore content makes me think this isn't going to be PG-13. I think I might just be over the (full) moon. The Wolfman us scheduled for release on February 13 2009. For a larger version of the image head on over to bauergriffinonline.com. T
What’s really depressing about the New Teen Titans and Outsiders crossover is how bad both parts turn out. It’s a beautiful example of how having two different writers write two different parts can turn out terribly wrong. It’s also an example of how having two different artists can show off just how good the first artist is drawing the other artist’s characters (Perez’s rendition of the Outsiders in his realistic style versus Aparo’s stylized realism? There’s no contest–Perez beats Aparo with a heavy stick).
In his half, Wolfman introduces the situation… the Fearsome Five versus the Teen Titans and the Outsiders. He really does get a lot in to his issue, but most of it is his setup with the Fearsome Five, followed by a stupid fight scene between the Titans and the Outsiders. There’s not much going on in the issue besides the Fearsome Five stuff, so it’s a shock it turns out better than the Outsiders issue.
The problem with the second half is real simple&
A legendary rock & roll '60s deejay, Wolfman Jack had the personality to attract millions of listeners to the sound of rock, as well as a deep love for rhythm & blues. Born Bob Smith in Brooklyn, he developed an interest in radio broadcasting as a youngster. He would listen to the radio as an escape from everyday teenage life and was influenced by Dr. Jive, Jockey Jack, Professor Bob and Sugar Daddy. At the age of 16, he did everything he could to stay off the streets and out of gangs. As his love for radio grew, he became interested in Alan Freed, the ultimate deejay of New York radio. Smith perched himself outside the doors of the Paramount Theater hoping to meet Freed. He got his big break when he became a "gofer" at Paramount. The road to stardom was long for Smith. His education in radio began at WNJR-AM in New Jersey and continued at the National Academy of Broadcasting in Virginia. While going to classes at night, he supported himself as a door-to-door salesman. Being a high sc
While the Guess Who did have several hits in America, they were superstars in their home country of Canada during the 1960s and early '70s. The band grew out of vocalist/guitarist Chad Allan (born Allan Kobel) and guitarist Randy Bachman's Winnipeg-based group Chad Allan and the Expressions, originally known as first the Silvertones and then the Reflections. The remainder of the lineup featured bassist Jim Kale, pianist Bob Ashley, and drummer Garry Peterson. The Expressions recorded a cover of Johnny Kidd and the Pirates' "Shakin' All Over" in 1965, which became a surprise hit in Canada and reached the U.S. Top 40. When the Expressions recorded an entire album of the same name, its record company, Quality, listed their name as "Guess Who?" on the jacket, hoping to fool record buyers into thinking that the British Invasion-influenced music was actually by a more famous group in disguise. Ashley had been replaced by keyboardist/vocalist Burton Cummings, who became lead vocalist when
I have always had a spot in my heart for were-wolves. I wish that they explored the werewolf character of Oz in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I enjoy reading about the were-people in the Laurell K....
