Owen Wilson was filming winter scenes in the beautiful West Chester PA for Marley and Me. It may be springtime, but it looks like a winter wonderland! BTW if you never been to West Chester, PA you should visit it if you are ever near Philadelphia because it is just so beautiful over there! (source) Celebrity Gossip, Celebrity [...]

      Winter Wonderland
I realized that I have been so focused on veggie seedlings that I have neglected to post pictures of the amazing transformation that is taking place in The Back 40. The apples are almost in full bloom and the cherries are absolutely breathtaking. This is one of the three apple trees on the property. And below is a picture of our giant cherry tree...and what I think is another cherry in our neighbor's yard. There are multiple benefits to having an mini orchard like ours...one that is often forgotten is the sheer joy of standing next to the trees when a bit of wind comes by...it is like having a snow storm of petals...I mean, what could be better than that? The little white and pink snowflakes drift around the landscape...it is like being caught up in a snow globe. Dreamy....Since Mother Natu

      Winter Wonderland | Qualicum Beach
My family and I recently went skiing to Mount Washington a short hour drive away from Qualicum Beach. We left our green grass and blossoms to enjoy a day on the slopes in a magical winter wonderland. It was Easter Monday and we really didn't know what to expect as far as holiday crowds go. - READ MORE

      Winter wonderland in London today

      Winter Wonderland: Southern Hemisphere Edition
This will have to be quick as I’m on a very short timer. I have yet to find a restaurant or coffee house that gives out free Wifi in Australia. I only have 15 minutes on this. Today was very cold. I drove up to Mount Wellington and Mount Field where there was snow and [...]

      Walking in a Winter Wonderland
Photo: MonkeyImagesStrange things are happening in the winter wonderlands of Scandinavia and they aren’t good. Having spent 18 years of my adult life in what I consider to be the most beautiful country in the world, Norway, I can’t help but feel saddened by the fact that the amazingly snow-filled winters appear to be fast disappearing. Not only in Norway, of course, but over the entire Scandinavian peninsula. I experienced my first Norwegian winter during 1979/80 and fell totally and utterly in love. After the miserable, wet, grey winters I’d experienced in London, what faced me every morning out there was everything I’d imagined a winter paradise would be. Crisp, deep, pure white snow covered the ground, tree branches and roof tops and turned every other conceivable object

      Winter Wonderland
Heavy storms have swept the US Midwest, dumping a record 20 inches (50cm) of snow on Columbus, Ohio, and disrupting flights and other services.Four people were reported to have been killed in Ohio after shovelling snow. The snow was preceded by freezing rain, ice and sleet that swept an area from eastern Kentucky into New York state. It cut power to many areas. The central United States and parts of Canada have suffered one of their worst seasons of winter weather in years.Chicago is still suffering very cold temperatures for early March, after its snowiest winter in nearly 20 years. In Canada, air traffic via Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa was disrupted by the same storm system that hit Ohio, and which was set to dump up to 16 inches (40 cm) of snow over the weekend. There were so many car cras

      England – a Winter Wonderland?
How cold can it get in England?? In the mornings I normally walk to the train station but today it was just so cold I decided to take the bus. The only problem is: when taking the bus you also have to stand at the bus stop, WAITING for the bus which is the most frustrating thing I know. Especially when it's freezing outside! Hey, I escaped Sweden and I get this?! One of the main subjects here at the GLJ office has actually to do with this. There are literally two teams. Team 2 consists of the Nordics, Germans, and English that like to keep the windows open now and again to get some fresh air in. Team 2 consists of the more southern European nationalities and they like it to be hot hot hot and keep closing the window as soon as they get a chance. I guess this is what you get when you p

      Winter Wonderland Unexpected Blast
For those who are enjoying warm weather somewhere in the world all year long, this is how the fourth season winter looks like here in Ontario, Canada. The winter is beautiful, however, it can be dangerous at times. Today we traveled to see family in the morning. Beautiful cold sunny day - and I though it is also a good day to take my moon photos (well, well not for long). While driving we spotted an older man driving a van. He was also steaming on the back of his car, because he was driving on his emergency breaks. So how do you try to wave someone down to let them know that they are on fire. In this case if traffic is moving over 100 km/h, it is not that easy. I think it is probably the best to call the patrolling police. However, the beautiful winter driving does not ends here. On the w

      Winter Wonderland/Wasteland - You decide.
Winter is most definitely here. I just saw him outside and he’s throwing his weight around like some kind of drug overload. He roared up in a Mercedes not long ago and started flashing his headlights in my eyes – the big oaf. So temperatures are really dropping at the moment. And that can only [...]

      Ashley Judd's Winter Wonderland Look
Ashley Judd always looks gorgeous. Her skin glows, her eyes shine - I am so jealous. Maybe if I do my makeup like Ashley I'll look like her...what do you think? All the items I need to copy this look are from the Winter Wonderland Collection from American Beauty Cosmetics. If you have not heard of this brand, it is sold exclusively at Kohl's department stores. I really like

      winter wonderland...
Uh, ya. Wonderland. Mother Nature is playing catch up. I wasn't here last year, but I know/heard there was no snow, and winter didn't really start until January. That was just because mother nature knew that winter would start early this year and she was giving everyone a break. In the backyard. This is the same shot (almost) as the leaves one in a previous post.I hate writing about the weather, since it's the kind of thing that you talk about when there's nothing else on the menu... but seriously. This week we've seen every kind of nasty winter weather possible. Sleet. Snow. Rain. Freezing rain. High winds. You name it.I didn't measure, but it looks like about two inches on the railing...It's not fun. I know that I wrote a little about it earlier in the week. I know that I said I thought it was kind of fun, and that I didn't mind it so much, but I also asked that there was no more until I left. I guess mother nature doesn't read this blog.Out back.Anyway, I must admit it is ra

      A Winter Wonderland
Winter is all well and good if you manage to avoid the coughs, sore throats and runny noses that essentially go with it. I love the smell of eucalyptus and the Badger Winter Wonder Balm from W.S. Badger Company features this scent as one of its key ingredients. The balm is a sinus-clearing chest rub with the fragrance of eucalyptus and mint. It also includes essential oils such as tea tree and rosemary which have been used to treat upper respiratory conditions for generations. Although it is a chest rub, the balm can also double as a soothing herbal steam inhalation. It is available from Adore Beauty and retails for $19.95.

      Gardening In A Winter Wonderland
In March !!!!!!!! As I look out of the window, as the wind whistles down the side of the house, snow falls from the sky ... I'm wondering ... is it really the middle of March?? 'Gardeners never have to listen to weather forecasts - they know that as soon as they start work in their garden it will rain.' [another little gem from 'The Littlest Gardening Giftbook]

      Winter wonderland
I love the snow. And today, having picked the kids up from school, I had a free pass out from the Mrs to get as wet and messy as I liked. Brilliant. Having two lads certainly helps. Now the talk is of school closures (hopefully) tomorrow so we can explore anywhere with a slope to give the sledges a proper test drive...

      Winter Wonderland
Some pics of what went on here this weekend.Because I am following the Compact Life, I'm not supposed to buy anything new. I've made a few exceptions, like PUL to make cloth diapers because I can't find any used, etc. Well I found another exception. The Guppy is just so thick around the waist that although her diaper covers fit around the legs, they don't around the waist. So, I bought these wonderful tab extenders from Deb's Diapers and got them in the mail on Friday. They work great! This weekend I also finished knitting a doll blanket for the Mermaid's doll. See at night she would tuck in her doll with her blanket and then get cold. So I figured I would knit one just for her doll and she could stay warm at night :o)And finally, our *adventures in Winter Wonderland.* really, our "adventures" lasted only ten minutes, just long enough to take some pictures. The Mermaid asked to go outside, I spent half an hour bundling them both up, we went outside, ten minutes later she decides s

      Winter Wonderland
I took a photo of my neighborhood just a few moments ago. Anyhow, I live close to Washington D.C, and Baltimore, it snowed about 2-3 inches, and there was a sheet of ice over everything. Right now, it's just slush and wet snow, but it is supposed to be below freezing all day and in turn, everything may turn to ice. For all of those affected by the storm, please be safe.It was pretty crazy out with the ice, slush and everything, but it's improved where I am at.If you're off today from work, chill out & enjoy!
