I went out yesterday for a little bit of photography. Here's a photograph of the Cornish-Windsor Bridge. [I guess Vermonters call it the Windsor-Cornish Bridge, which actually has a nicer ring to my ear, but since I'm living in New Hampshire, I'll call it "Cornish-Windsor".]What you see is the Connecticut River, not nearly frozen over, but covered with a lot of floating ice. The long horizontal thing is the bridge: the longest wooden bridge in the U.S. and the longest two-span covered bridge in the world. There's snow on the roof. In the background, I believe that's Mt. Ascutney (VT), but I could be wrong about that. I have no idea of what mountain it would be if it's not Ascutney, though.As always, comments are welcomed and encouraged.

MONTREAL (CP) - Canadian Pacific Railway (TSX:CP) plans to sell Windsor Station in Montreal through a request for proposal process it hopes will gauge market value for the historic property. "This process is undertaken as part of CP's ongoing evaluation of opportunities to monetize the value of its real estate assets to maximize returns to the company and reduce ongoing operating costs," the company said in a release. There were two packets each of Earl Grey, English Breakfast, Darjeeling and one called "Royalty" (which I later learned is a special blend produced only by Darvilles of Windsor, apparently by "Royal Appointment" of the British Royal Family, who they've served since 1946).Anyway, it was time for my pre-dinner cuppa and I didn't feel like fussing with loose tea, so I rooted through these packets and brewed up a Darvilles of Windsor Earl Grey. And surprise, surprise - it was quite good! A clean, crisp brew which is neither too smoky nor too scented, but pretty darned close to just right.I've only one more bag left but if the 2nd one comes out as nicely as the first, I may just have to place a proper order for a tin of the loose stuff and give it a prope

I was thrilled to learn that Nick's Windsor tour would stop near my hometown of Scottsdale AZ - BUT I was going to be out of town on the day that they would be here. Fortunately Kaitlin was free and able to represent BPR at this event. She had a wonderful time at the store and loved visiting with Nick and David. The store was super-busy with gorgeous girls trying on Nick's designs and Kaitlin reports that they were ALL smiling!

Bloomberg reports that Ford is investing $165m in its Essex Engine plant in Windsor, Ontario.  The plant, which has been shuttered since November, will produce an unnamed new Ford engine, and will return 300 jobs to the province. The plant refurbishment was made possible by a $16.5m investment by the Ontario provincial government, or about $55k per job created. Although Ford refuses to comment on exactly which engine will be produced at the plant, timing seems to indicate that the new EcoBoost line of turbocharged, direct-injection engines could be a prime candidate.
