Since I could not get the old computer to recognize any of our external hard drives or the printer. So I took the computer and hooked it up to the TV. the TV has a VGA connection on it so that was an easy connection however I had to take my old speakers in from the Yard Sale Pile and hook them up for some sound with the computer. And today I picked up a wireless mouse and keyboard so that we could use the computer from the couch. The webcam was used for the first time tonight (that is what is on the screen, really washed out). Companies such as Velocity Micro, HP, and others are beginning to ship PC's capable of HDTV with Windows Vista using Windows Media Center. These PC's come with a special HD tuner with a slot for a special card called a CableCard. These CableCards enable HD capabilities through your digital cable service and are available through your digital cable providers (for example I received my CableCard from Comcast).

With this update programs for enabling the use of Windows Media Extenders (such as the Xbox 360) have been updated. You may need to update your third party firewall to take into account the changes to these programs and enable access through the firewall to your Windows Media Extender. For example, I use Windows Live OneCare to protect my PC I use for Media Center. In Windows Live OneCare's Firewall Advanced Settings, you will notice it lists programs by name and version.
