Not too long ago, users on the Neowin.net forums started complaining about not being able to send YouTube links to their contacts on Windows Live Messenger. I was skeptic at first, but it didn’t take me very long to confirm that is indeed the case. As you can see, any messages that contain in text or links to “www.youtube.com” fails to be delivered. Curious as a cat, I loaded up a network packet sniffer to find out exactly what’s going on behind the scenes. I posted my little Stopwatch Gadget on Windows Live the other day. The response has been interesting. The early adopters gave me high marks averaging 4 and 5 stars. Now that John Q Public has started chiming in the scores have dropped dramatically. My only guess is that they see the gadget as so simple as to not be worthy of a good score. Flickr recently implemented the Windows Live Contacts API in their friend finder. That means in just a couple clicks you can make all your Windows Live contacts Flickr friends too! In what can only be described as a bizarre and non-sensical decision, Microsoft has decided to pull the plug on Windows Live Writer. Our insider sources tell us that because of the long delay between builds for the final release of the first version of Writer that it was deemed to costly to keep the project going. Less then two weeks after releasing the new Windows Live FolderShare Beta the team has dropped a refreshed build (14.0.1329.0317) on to the web that fixes a bunch of problems users had been experiencing with the bits. According to their team blog this release should fix all known sign in and library management problems. It also improves the responsiveness of the tray application. The Windows Live FolderShare beta, unlike the Windows Live Suite applications, has not yet been integrated with Microsoft Update and has no other auto update feature so you have to manually go to the Windows Live FolderShare website, download the new build and install it.
