Microsoft has released the first beta version of Windows Live Mail.It can be freely downloaded and will replace Outlook Express in Windows XP and Windows Mail in Windows Vista.The application is in beta version and has number of bugs and missing features but still it looks very interesting and appealing. The new program brings in features from both of the previous Windows mail applications. I spent some time today playing with Windows Live Mail and its quit interesting. It has a "feeds" feature as well as an option to add new blog entries into Windows Live Space from the WLM(Windows Live Mail) . Oh!! by the way in order to install WLM you require Windows Installer 3.1 or later version in your system.Well overall the program looks good and runs well after some initial setup and tweaks, but it is to be expected with a initial beta version of any software and may not enjoy much but then you may want to wait to download Windows Live Mail.
To set up access to a Gmail account in Windows Live Mail desktop:
Make sure POP access is turned on for your Gmail account.
Go to Mail under Shortcuts in Windows Live Mail desktop.
Click Add an e-mail account at the bottom of the list.
Enter your name under Your name:.
Type your Gmail address under E-mail address:.
Make sure Automatically determine my login ID is checked. (You can verify it is working correctly if the local part, i.e. what comes before the @, in your Gmail address appears under Login ID:.)
Type your Gmail password under Password:.
Make sure Manually configure server settings for e-mail account. is not checked.
Click Next >.
Click Finish.
Click Send/Recv in the Windows Live Mail desktop toolbar.
That’s it. By now, a Gmail account should have appeared in the folder pane, and if you had any mail waiting in Gmail, it is now in its Inbox.
Is it MSN Hotmail, is it Windows Live Mail? No it’s Windows Live Hotmail.

Microsoft has added an audio playback feature to their Windows Live Mail. You can send audio messages to members and it can be played back right within the Live mail account. Youc an also send attached music files and have them played back right within the message. I tested it out and it worked quite well. It is a Windows Media Player powered audio control feature.
