You Have a Fairly Strong WillpowerTemptation doesn't get the better of you all that often. If you set your mind on a goal, you'll do your best to achieve it.And while you don't have a perfect record with willpower, you do okay.If you fall off the wagon with something, you're usually not off the wagon for long.Is Your Willpower Strong?
I guess most of you know we buried our pet guinea pig, Marley, last weekend. And although most people don’t consider guinea pigs something that one would become attached to (and that would definitely be a wrong assumption) - I miss the shit out of him! My daily ritual of getting up in [...]
I've gotta admit that it's not ALL the time that I don't purchase from Starbucks as I mentioned in my last note. But, when I do, it's for sure the Frapps! Introduced to IBM's (Ice Blended Mocha's) out in California, they quickly become my comfort food... job promotion... Frapp, 9/11...Frapp... anything was Frapp time! But, out there I didnt' even know that Starbucks existed! Our hang out was Grounds For Enjoyment!
That was 10 years ago and now I'm here, no more GFE but Starbucks hits the spot. It still is my comfort food but fortunately, my comfort needs are diminishing as I work on my journey of growth and am committed to this for a life time with my dear husband of five years!
So, before you think I've got strong willpower, I DO love the smell of coffee but I'm not a coffee fan... just
There is a very interesting article in the New York Times called, Tighten Your Belt, Strengthen Your Mind, by Sandra Aamodt and Sam Wang, that talks about willpower. It points out that if you have to use willpower for one thing, you will compensate and have less willpower to use for something else.
The article ties [...]
What if as each day passes, the power of our intention on an individual scale grows? What if, after a few months, people begin using this power in groups and achieving amazing results? What would the purpose of this be? If all our desires became reality, would that make us gods?Do we gain super will powers in 2012? Or do we become gods? Or do we revert to a higher state of being?Maybe nothing will happen...
So I went to the market with my list of low-carb food this morning. Was it a good sign that the septic guy and his truck were in front of the store, sucking up waste? Not sure.I'm just amazed at how much money good food costs. Hey, I'll pay it - that isn't the problem, but I was amazed at how much more the bill was this week. Never mind that gas bill! I filled up the tank of my mini-van to the tune of $50. Gulp. I'm gonna have to sell my body soon!At any rate, I spent the moolah, came home and put all the goods away. And my counters are gushing with green vegetables. It's lovely! I still have some foods for the kids, but I seem to have the willpower to avoid them. Hubby was asking me all week if I had gone shopping for low-carb stuff, and I told him that I would get to it, and that there was enough good stuff at home that I could survive a few days. With my schedule and my desire to NOT walk with this bum knee (doc appt in this afternoon), I just had to wait until toda
The tattoo is in the leprosy stage. I bought a bandage to put over it for a few days once it started flaking in an effort to prevent myself peeling the thing off but having tried it this morning the bandage clearly won't stay in place, which is irritating. I'm leaving it clear under my cardigan and will have to try and exercise will power. It snowed yesterday morning, shortly before I had to drive over to see the printer. Thankfully it wasn't heavy and didn't settle. There were too many people for my liking in the office with the printer so although there was much exchanging of meaningful glances and he occasionally took the opportunity to rub my thigh not much happened apart from a brief snog in the carpark. Frustration of anticipation - it's a bit of a bugger.I posted my pondering about the actions of a guy in church on the snopes message board yesterday, for the views of people who are wiser than me in dealing with this sort of thing. Being possibly the most dense female on the
Here we are the day after Christmas. TheMan had to work. I did not. The girls are out of school and Teenager is still in Utah with her mother. My house is quiet. The dogs are hugging and loving and slobbering on their new babies from Santa. Occasionally there is a small squeak let go from one of the babies. Then the dog will lay their head on it as if to say “sorry I hurt you.” The dogs also know which baby belongs to them. They are good about sharing but when it comes time to lay down, they grab their baby and take a little nap. I’m jealous. For the nap part! The girls have kicked me off the PS2 and are currently hogging Hot Shots Golf Fore. Let me just tell you that this game is a blast! We have been known to play for hours at a time when we lived in Utah because my brother had a PS2 and this game. We got some other games also, Sponge Bob, The Simpson’s Road Rage, NHRA Drag Racing, Smack Down v. Raw wrestling. I can’t wait for them to get bored with the game and go ba
