I had gone to Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve for a day-long visit on 28th. I accompanied Dr. Arunkumar Kholkute, a retired veterinarian, (and a distant relative of mine) on his official visit. Today I put my yamadori ash bonsai into a training pot. I saved a large steel bucket from a skip to use as a training pot to make sure the roots don’t spread too much. As you may know, I haven’t long had the tree. Usually with yamadori you need to keep them in the ground for them to recover for a period of at least a year or so. But this ash I have has been doing so well I thought I’d put it in it’s new training pot. (more…)

Looks like Tracy Morgan may be headed for more trouble! The chest baring maniac was spotted partying hard in Las Vegas but the million $ question is...WAS HE DRINKING?! You might recall back in May he escaped jail time in exchange for ankle bracelet to make sure he stays off the booze. The NYPost reports,Last weekend, Morgan went to a party at Rum Jungle in Las Vegas, where, his representative insisted, he was only drinking Red Bull. Our witness, however, claims Morgan started downing shots of vodka. He then swigged straight from the bottle, tore his shirt off and partied hard the rest of the night. Morgan, who was fined $1,000 and had his license suspended for six months, is not allowed to consume alcohol and if he tests positive at any time for it, he must wear the bracelet for another 90 days. A second violation will land him 30 days in jail. The February DUI arrest was not his first he was also busted in California in 2005 for driving under the influence. Maybe this time his crazy

I checked my collected ash tree last night and found 3 small new leaves already!  A very good sign indeed.  In fact I have never had a yamadori tree which has just been collected to sprout new leaves so quickly, it usually takes quite a while to recover.  Maybe it’s to do with the fact that it spent probably only 15 minutes out of the soil and the roots were throughly wrapped up.  Having said that I did have to cut off quite a lot of large roots to extract it from the earth.  I was expecting to wait at least a couple of weeks for new growth (more…)

A few days back I collected a very large ash tree which is about 3 foot high. Because of the place that it was, it needed to be collected asap and I could not wait until winter because it may not be there anymore. I’ve found with ash trees that they bounce back very easily indeed and need a fair bit of punishment to kill them off. Not that I wanted to do that at all, quite the opposite. (more…)
