Just a reminder that Chicago's Wilco has signed on to play Tanglewood (the Western Massachusetts home away from home for the Boston Symphony Orchestra) in August. Those tickets go on sale this Friday. If you think you might like to see Wilco in great peaceful setting, then this is probably as close as you are going to get. And get this - ANDREW BIRD is opening! This could be the best show in New England this summer. Amikor a Bellevill-i (Illinois) alternatív country együttes, az Uncle Tupelo 1994-ben egy turnét követően feloszlott, két utódzenekara jött létre. Most az egyik, a Jeff Tweedy gitáros-énekes vezette chicagoi Wilco tavalyi lemezét szeretném bemutatni azoknak, akik nem ismerik az együttest.Érdemes rászánni egy kis időt a meghallgatására. A mai zakatolós zenei világban kifejezetten pihentető: a gitárosok gitároznak, az énekes énekel, szóval minden a helyén van. És szerintem nagyon jó zene.Tömörítés/Bitrate: 256 kb/sLetöltés/Download:[ ShareOnAll ][ MMshare ]Jelszó/Password: levente

Really really enjoyed seeing Wilco on SNL this weekend. And I was pleasantly surprised that they choose Hate It Here as their first song. Even if it did take till well after midnight EST for them to get around to the first song. The band also played a great full version of [...]
I saw an episode of Law & Order recently (one of the three television series currently running on NBC — they’re so absolutely unique I can’t believe I don’t remember which one – DUHN DUHN) — and a developmentally challenged and incredibly bright character said “The End” every time she finished speaking, whether in conversation or when providing her testimony. I thought it was really cute. And then I thought it was brilliant. We don’t have a definitive or graceful way of letting others know when we’ve actually finished our thought. In the world of electronic communication, we have different ways to inform each other when we’re done. With two-way radios or walkie-talkies, we can use “Roger” and “Wilco”. I was curious of the origination so I looked it up on Wi
Chicago's own Wilco appeared live on Late Night with Conan O'Brien in May of '06 - when the host took the show to Chi-town for the week. He spent five days talking with Chicago politicians, celebrities, authors, and musicians. On the last day, O'Brien didn't surprise many (Conan is a notorious indie rock fan - and reportedly loves Wilco) when he unleashed a previously unannounced appearance from Jeff Tweedy and his awesome band. Wow, I think we went a couple months without a Wilco related posting here, ok, maybe not that long. At any rate there is more news surrounding the band that is surfacing this week. First off, Pitchfork is reporting that Wilco will be releasing an expanded version of their latest long player, Sky Blue Sky with some bonus tracks that some of us nerds already have, but have not been available on CD until now.
The bonus SBS will have the tunes, “The Thanks I Get”, “Let’s Not Get Carried Away”, and “One True Vine”, plus live renditions of “Impossible Germany” and “Hate It Here” recorded in September at the Fillmore in Denver. You may recall that One True Vine was a featured track on a indie stores only bonus disc for early purchasers of the album, while Let’s Not Get Carried Away, which is a great great song, was an ITunes exclusive.
The expanded version will be available in stores throughout the UK and Europe. And
Our Heartless Bastards are all growns up now aren’t they? While this is certainly not the first time Cincinnati’s own Heartless Bastards have been the opener choice of a nationally renowned act (see Lucinda Williams tour earlier this year) this one gets me especially excited since I am a big fan of HB, and of course Wilco.
It is indeed true, one of our favorite Cincinnati acts will be opening for Wilco tonight and tomorrow night in Pittsburgh and Charlottesville respectively.
In other Wilco news, you gotta hit up Donewaiting today and check out the awesome pics of Jeff and company from their gig with Andrew Bird this week in Columbus.

Or, "How Jay Bennett and Ken Coomer got kicked out of Wilco"I can't help but feel sorry for both of them, especially after seeing "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart", reading Greg Kot's excellent Wilco bio "Learning How To Die", and realizing that Tweedy is sort of a dick. These demos, then, are what might have been, and there are a bunch of hidden gems. "Alone" and "Nothing Up My Sleeve" are pure pop bliss, and clearly show where Bennett wanted to steer the ship. "Venus Stop The Train" with it's haunting piano, TWO version of "Kamera" that sound like the band was trying to channel the "Be My Baby" Wall Of Sound, and my favorite, "Rhythm" which later morphed into "Cars Can't Escape". After their wild experimental streak of the past decade, Wilco's sixth studio album might feel like a bit of a comedown. Sky Blue Sky is mellow, moody, and uncharacteristically monotone, opening with a pleasant jangle and Jeff Tweedy singing a simple song: "Maybe the sun will shine today, the clouds will blow away." He doesn't even follow it up with a barbed punchline. Could it be that the restless Chicago band has settled back into its gentle Americana roots--or does this sudden mid-career reappraisal represent Wilco's gutsiest move yet? Mostly written in the studio by the full band, it's certainly the group's most cohesive album in ages, presenting a dense song cycle padded with intricate guitar work, brushed rhythms, and '70s soft-rock accents. In places it sounds like Wings ("Hate It Here"), in others Harry Nilsson ("Walken"), and in the middle it goes a bit Grateful Dead ("Shake It Off"). At the same time, there's a distinct sense of hearing a band finally at ease in its o
PART 2The infectious twang and pop hooks of Wilco's former efforts may be fading fast, but A Ghost Is Born is still a rewarding effort that demands repeated listening. The group's fifth album extends upon the experimentalism of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot with angular, blues-soaked guitar riffs ("At Least That's What You Said," "Hell Is Chrome"), a handful of sparse, yet catchy tunes (smack dab in the middle of the disc) that will surely keep college radio stations smiling, and a lengthy track that descends into mere static ("Less Than You Think"). Frontman Jeff Tweedy's songwriting continues to evolve: "Hummingbird" is a dreamy Randy Newman-styled love song; "The Late Greats" is a sly ode to the world of pop tacked onto the end of the album (as if using such a fun song on this understated disc was an afterthought). Meanwhile, producer extraordinaire Jim O'Rourke manages to make the most complicated arrangements here sound minimalist and laid-back. All told, it's another great addition
Comprising frontman Jeff Tweedy and other former members of alt.country legend Uncle Tupelo, Wilco was an apple that didn't fall far from the tree. A.M., the band's debut, continues that older group's brand of updated country-rock (emphasis on "rock") and emotionally powerful songwriting. However, many of the best creations here--the driver's-licenseless drunk in "Passenger Side," the bar-band celebration of riverboat gambling on "Casino Queen"--sport an unprecedented sense of humor and are unexpectedly catchy, too. Best of all might be "It's Just That Simple," in which Tweedy turns the mic over to the high and mournful singing of bassist John Stirratt.
I am currently wrapping my arms around Wilco's new album, "Sky Blue Sky" and thought it might make sense to revisit some earlier brilliance. The band continues to amaze me and nothing about their earlier material shocks and impresses as much as live performance and demo material. I always find it interesting what bands (or movie directors for that matter) leave on the cutting room floor. Did they cut it for time, or art, or feel - or something else all together. And when it comes to live performances, truly great live shows are rare. Sure - the experience can transcend the actual musical experience on stage... Generally one or two songs shine. Well as is the case with today's song - the track of the week.... Wilco had one shot at Glory. It's Wilco live on the Late Show with Conan O'Brien! Chicago's Wilco I have included two additional tracks - "Kamera" and "Magazine Called Sunset" are demo versions (unreleased tracks!) that never saw the Yankee Hotel Foxtrot album. True the song

Meg White took center stage to sing In the Cold, Cold Night, while later on some guy had Jack read a note proposing marriage to a girlfriend (cheesy, yes, but having Mr. White read a note to your girl at Bonnaroo sure beats the hell out of using the scoreboard at a baseball game). Awesome times all around
The band Wilco has recently become the target of an Internet hissy fit, for having the audacity to lend songs from Sky Blue Sky, the rockers most recent album, to Volkswagen TV ads. These spots feature the tunes You Are My Face and the bonus track The Thanks I Get, with four more to come.
You all know by now that I am a huge Wilco fan, so I tend to watch the news about the band pretty close. The latest news from the band is this, which basically says that Wilco is teaming up with Volkswagen for a series of spots featuring music from their new album, Sky Blue Sky. Interestingly enough, the first tune is not a song included on SBS however. “The Thanks I Get” was a Tweedy solo staple during his most recent tour and was the first used in a VW ad campaign.
Big deal right? Well, it is to the some Wilco fans it appears. If there was ever an example of a conversation that has been beaten to death in music circles, it is the “selling out” dialog. And that is just what this ad has gotten Wilco fans over at the sometimes heartfelt, but sometimes obsessive Via Chicago message boards talking about.
I would understand if the band all drove VW’s and really, just like, really loved their cars—but I doubt that is the case. This was a crass, marketin
Had enough of Wilco yet? Yeah, me neither, so let’s take a look at their performance on Jools Holland this weekend. See below for two videos of performances, first, “You Are My Face” and also a performance of “Sky Blue Sky.”
Now, get back to your Memorial Day weekend!

Great news for Wilco fans yesterday, as their new album, Sky Blue Sky made it all the way up to #4 on the charts in its first week. The album has already sold 87,000 copies. It’s the Chicago-based rock group’s second top 10 album and surpasses the No. 8 entry that greeted 2004’s “A Ghost Is Born,” which sold 81,000. Nearly a quarter of its sales this week were snapped up via digital retailers.
I guess enough people heard Jeff himself reading a promotional spot (see below) for indie record stores pushing the bonus disc that you can only get at local indie stores wherever you reside (if you are lucky). The bonus disc includes two songs. One True Vine and a live version of Theologians. Another new song floating around is called “Let’s Fight”, and could very well be the anthem for the latest Tweedy sound bite. Jeff apparently responded to the recent Eagles comparisons from this review during a AOL interview saying, “Those are fighti
It’s here everyone! For the big Wilco fans, like myself, album release day is a big day. Even in an age of leaks and downloads months before an album sees the record store shelves. I am anxiously awaiting the double gatefold vinyl copy of the album, which comes with a free CD to arrive, hopefully today. Read this note from the band, it could not be more accurate.
Greetings to you all from the east coast branch — where we’ve been burning the midnight oil for months getting ready for May 15. And it is finally upon us.
By now, you know that next week is the official release date of Wilco’s 7th album (or 9th depending on how you count). Hence the slightly serious tone of this note. Tuesday, to be precise, marks the US release of Sky Blue Sky on Nonesuch Records. If you haven’t had a chance to listen to the on-demand stream, by all means click here and take it for a spin. We’re pretty sure you’ll enjoy the ride.
But once you’ve done th
For starters, the album is much mellower than any other Wilco album. Thats not to say this is a heavy band, as its certainly not, but there has always been a sharp edge, a certain bite, to Wilcos songs. The tunes on Sky Blue Sky, however, skew closer to mid- to late-70s peaceful, easy songwriter rock than the challenging, grouchy Wilco weve come to know and love
Just a week until Sky Blue Sky drops, I’m pretty excited being a big Wilco fan. Have a look at this video trailer for the DVD that comes alongside the deluxe edition of the album, titled, Shake It Off. Also, a very comprehensive interview with Jeff today via Pitchfork, a must read for Wilco fans.

I have nothing much to say today, other than that the weather is glorious today. Instead, here are some of my favourite songs at the moment, a former favourite, and possibly a future favourite.WilcoThe new album comes out only in May, but it has been leaked on the Internet. It is easily the Album of 2007 so far (towering over the Shins), and it will take something quite extraordinary to knock Tweedy and chums of that perch. The best track on Sky Blue Sky is “Impossible Germany”, which seems to sample the guitar riff from Thin Lizzy’s "Sarah". "Shake It Off" is another stand-out track, sounding like the Beatles White Album era going a tad alt.country. Fantastic. The tracks have been leaked and the blogosphere has mixed reviews. I’m loving it so far. If you’re expecting them to push the boundaries and experiment like on A Ghost is Born, you may be disappointed. If you’re like me, then Summerteeth is the album that wears out your iPod and these songs will be right up your alley.
I followed the blogs from Each Note Secure to Idolator who published some of the mixed reviews, including one from Wolf Notes who listened to two tracks and called Wilco’s latest effort “Randy Newman horse shit.” His big gripe is that they aren’t “expanding their sound.”
I’m all for musicians experimenting and taking their sound to new heights, but all that guitar distortion gets exhausting. After A Ghost is Born, I’m looking forward to good songwriting and solid guitar work from Nels Cline that I don’t have to think much about. I’m sure I’ll get what I’m looking for and it won&
If you have been able to brave the storm that was yesterday’s leak of a couple of Wilco tunes from the new album, Sky Blue Sky, and are still breathing, then good for you, cause it was messy. As expected with any band that has set the bar incredibly high, Wilco are bound to get mixed reviews almost regardless of what they release. It has happened with each of the last three albums in different ways, from the folks that thought Summerteeth was too poppy, to those that didn’t “understand” Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, (im looking at you Reprise) to others that felt A Ghost Is Born was incredibly polarizing and would thus begin the downward spiral for the band.
All of these things have been said, and most of them have been taken back. Thats not to say that all Wilco critics become fans every time, but many do end up eating their words. I think the main reason is that Wilco’s music, for the most part, is meant to be digested over a period of time, repeated listens
