Google tries to make its spreadsheets more like wikis
In a strange move, Google has added a new feature to Google Docs that enables users to allow anyone to edit a spreadsheet, advertising the option as a way to make a spreadsheet like a wiki. Previously, individuals could be invited to view or edit a spreadsheet, but they had to create an account with Google after entering a custom URL that effectively served as a security-through-obscurity barrier

Meaning, that the unified knowledge, skills, workflow, ideas, networks, relationships and strengths are embodied within a company’s people. The tragic aspect of the relationship is that those human capital [...]

The campaign started using the software during the run up to an earlier nominating contest in California -- the nation's most populous state. "The Web-based collaboration platform combined with a strong organized grass-roots effort, created unprecedented public involvement that is revitalizing politics in America," said Patrick DeTemple, the California Data & Systems Manager for the Obama campaign. On the Unpopularity of Blogs and Wikis
Commenting on a post on Digital Inspiration entitled "Why Are Blogs, Wikis Not Popular Than Email for Getting Things Done: Google Tech Talk".I remember a time when email was unpopular and 'would never take off' as was told to me by my then Finance Director. "It's not guaranteed delivery and dreadfully slow. You can't even send Spreadsheets or other Documents" he went on to say. Oh dear. Oh dear.IMHO, the reason 'non-technical' people, if I can use the term without offending millions of you, are not adopting Blogs and Wiki's instead of e-mail is because most people outside of techland, at least in my experience, have no real idea what they are let alone what the benefits may be. People are only now talking about Blogs in everyday conversations when they refer to them as personal diaries online. Ask people in the street about a Wiki and they'll probably think you're referring to some hairy rebel out of Star Wars and come back to you with some Han Solo gag or another.Wiki's are

It’s a follow-up to their even better video, RSS in Plain English, which as of May 28th was viewed over 80,000 times.

Popular Wikis (1) Wikipedia - all-favorite, biggest online encyclopedia (2) WikiTravel - world-wide travel guide, covers destination guides, hotels and resorts (3) WikiHow - ‘How-To’ manuals for the problems of everyday life.
