      Anil Ambani-controlled Reliance Communications acquired a controlling stake in UK-based eWave World, a telco focused on the rapidly developing market for wireless telephony services using the WiMAX technology standard. The acquisition was done through Reliance Infocom BV, a division of Reliance Globalcom and wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Communications. Over, the next 2-3 years, Reliance Globalcom, through the acquired company eWave World, would invest around USD 500 million (Rs 20 billion) to build and acquire WiMAX networks in emerging markets in Asia, Europe, Latin America and Africa.       Indian telco Tata Communications has announced that it has selected WiMAX vendor Telsima to provide WiMAX solutions for a planned nationwide network. The Indian telco will be investing around USD500 million in the project by the end of 2010, and expects 200,000 WiMAX subscribers by March 2009. The project aims to roll out the largest WiMAX network in India, with coverage of 110 cities for the enterprise segment, and 15 for retail with Telsima deploying around 3,000 base stations.
