Newcastle came back from 2-0 down to earn a point at Upton Park.HighlightsGeorge McCartney's left-wing cross was volleyed home by Mark Noble before Dean Ashton fired in West Ham's second after being found by Bobby Zamora's flick-on.But Obafemi Martins scored with the Magpies' first attack when he finished calmly after latching on to Joey Barton's ball over the top.And Geremi diverted Martins' shot into the net with his shoulder to haul Newcastle level just before half-time.It was a remarkable turnaround because West Ham were in complete control, with Newcastle looking a shadow of the team that were unbeaten in six matches prior to their visit to east London.Full-back McCartney caused them major problems on the left flank and had already served up two dangerous early crosses before setting

Kevin Davies earned Bolton three priceless points on a lively afternoon at the Reebok Stadium.HighlightsFirst HalfSecond HalfThey should have led by half-time as Davies saw two headers cleared off the line and El-Hadji Diouf had a goal ruled out for off-side.He finally found a way through after the break, poking home after Jonathan Spector had impeded his own goalkeeper.Dean Ashton's overhead shot tipped onto the bar was West Ham's best chance in a frantic second half but Bolton held on.Any plans West Ham may have had for the afternoon were thrown into disarray as early as the first minute, when Anton Ferdinand limped off with a hamstring injury. This may explain why they seemed so out of sorts for most of the first half, as the home side dominated without managing to get on the scoreboard.

Upton Park has been a poor hunting ground for United in recent years and today's result just adds to the mystic. For some unknown reason we're just not able to beat the Hammers.West Ham started the brighter of the two teams and should have had the lead in the opening 10 minutes. Mullins struck the post and Noble could not put the rebound into the empty net. It could have proven fatal as minutes later Ronaldo opened the scoring from a quick counter on the 14th minute.A good pass from Saha allowed Giggs the time and space to pick a surging Ronaldo from the left flank. Arsenal remained at the top of the table today as they beat West Ham thanks to a 13th minute header from Robin van Persie. Manchester United have yet to play, but even if they win Arsenal will be 2 points ahead with a game in hand. Currently, our closest rivals are Manchester City who 3 points behind, having played one more game.

Today’s post is a very quick one without much insight or opinion. This is something I hate doing and I hope you can forgive me for it.
The reason for it is simple: the AFL Grand Final is on today and it’s probably the one sporting event I would never, ever miss. Even above the World Cup Final or Champions League Final. Seriously. So I’ve simply included today’s important news with links provided if you want to go into them in more detail.
Firstly, some good news with Alexander Hleb passed fit for the game with West Ham. He should slot in on the right and I have to say with Theo Walcott not playing well and Emmanuel Eboue and Denilson playing a full 90 minutes midweek the I’m very about this. However, there was some bad news with Eduardo da Silva dropping out of the squad with a groin injury. Maybe he’s been hanging out with William Gallas a bit too much. You can read my full preview of the game from yesterday’s post here.
Secondly, West Ham man
An important game for the team today at Upton Park on several levels. Firstly, it is without doubt the most difficult match that any of the top four have; Newcastle in fifth travel to Manchester City but with due respect to both sides, I doubt that by Christmas they will occupy their current positions. I could be wrong but I do not think so. Three points are vital for Arsenal, ensuring that the good start continues, imbuing more confidence not that they should need this boost any more given that their unbeaten run this season has already stretched to double figures.
It is a match that allows them the opportunity to put myths and ghosts of yesteryear to bed, gaining maximum points at a ground which has in the recent past been something of a barren hunting ground. Not since 2001 have we won there, 2 - 1 that day. Since then three draws and a defeat have been the Premiership returns. A win might help convince those from without that a serious title challenge can be mounted. Indeed, with C
Arsenal travel to Upton Park this weekend for the Premiership clash with West Ham United looking for their first win in four attempts against their fellow Londoners.
Arsene Wenger’s side lost twice to West Ham last year, the second an unbelieveable 1-0 defeat totally against the run of play, and know a win will give them every chance of extending their lead at the top of the league. Unfortunately for Arsenal, they will still be without William Gallas and Tomas Rosicky, but on a more positive note, may have Alexander Hleb back for the important clash.
“We’ll have to assess the situation of Alex Hleb. We’ll look at that on Friday morning. William Gallas is maybe a week or 10 days away. As for Rosicky you can probably fix the date for Sunderland [next Sunday]. Jens Lehmann will be another week.”
With all of those casualties in mind, the starting team could be quite hard to predict. Manuel Almunia will definitely continue in goals with Jens Lehmann still

Arsenal are set to play an exciting match on Saturday as they take on West Ham, the only team ever to beat Arsenal at the Emirates. West Ham are something of a bogey team for the Gunners, having won their last 4 Premiership meetings, and Arsenal will not be happy if they lose to recently departed Freddy Ljungberb. However, Arsene Wenger's boys will be heavy favorites to win this match, especially
So another few days into the season and still the Arsenal train shows no sign of coming off the tracks. The hugely impressive result and performance against Newcastle in the cup during the week shows that the policy of playing youth and reserve team players for this particular competition may well result in another final day appearance.
It really is a testament to Wenger’s vision that the club from top to bottom level have adopted his footballing philosophy to such an extent that watching the reserves is almost exactly like watching the first team. I haven’t seen the U12s play yet but I suspect that they look and play just like mini-versions of the first choice eleven.
There were some positives to last season but I think overall it we would have to put it down as a disappointment and perhaps the biggest problem we had last year was with our complete inability to actually put the ball into the back of the net, which is really what football is all about. We all sha

Poi so già che la mia opinione sui britannici cambierà durante gli Europei 2008, quando dovremo sopportare 'ste bestie per le strade elvetiche... comunque per il momento vi propongo appunto l'inno del Liverpool, la famosissima "You Will Never Walk Alone" di Gerry and the Pacemakers, e quello del West Ham United, "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles".When you walk through a storm, hold your head up highAnd don't be afraid of the dark.At the end of the storm there's a golden skyAnd the sweet, silver song of a lark.Walk on through the wind, walk on through the
Seriously is anyone sick of this whole Tevez row? I know I am. This whole thing is going to take the entire summer to play out, and FIFA sticking it's grubby self-righteous hands into it isn't going to make things anymore pleasant.Already Sheffield United, Charlton, Fulham and Wigan are planning a suit against the inaptitude of the Premier League to dock West Ham points. Chairman of Wigan, Dave Whelan, has publically called for Dave Richards, the Premier League chairman, and Richard Scudamore, chief executive, to step down.Meanwhile in a desparate attempt to avoid relegation, Sheffield United chairman Kevin McCabe has ridiculously suggested the league be expanded to 21 teams to salvage some sense of fairplay to all sides involved.Hence in the spirit of all the silliness going on, here are some tongue-in-cheek solutions.Solution #1The Premier League deducts 2 points off West Ham for fielding an ineligible player. There were celebrations all round when the final whistle blew. West Ham had staved off relegation and Manchester United were crown champions of England.Despite being almost overwhelmingly outplayed by United, Tevez willed West Ham to an unlikely victory. On paper, the United team that started lacked star names like Giggs, Scoles or Ronaldo, but they played like stars yet somehow the West Ham goal led a charmed life. Even when the trio were introduced in the second half, the West Ham defence could not be breached.Ultimately, it was a Tevez goal in the first half that settled the match. A fitting end to the season for a West Ham team that looked doomed only two months ago, only for Tevez to claw and inspire them to safety on the last day.(In my best Keegan impersonsation) I would have loved to see West Ham relegated to ease the pain of 95. But it was not to be.Based on his sheer determination, Ferguson will find it very difficult to resist a move for Tevez, should he be offered again to
flangracneig pgoramian I know I said I wasn’t blogging, I did lie, but you’ll be pleased that I spent very little time actually sat in front of a computer yesterday. I’m pretty sure that most of my readers have played video games, some violent, some not so violent, and we’re all pretty much well adjusted people. Paul Eaton 28 January 2007Rafael Benitez looked ahead to Tuesday's trip to Upton Park and insisted: "There's no point beating Chelsea and then losing to West Ham."Liverpool's victory last weekend saw them climb to within five points of the Champions and the Reds have a chance to further reduce the gap when they take on the relegation-battling Hammers this week. Benitez was delighted with the manner of his team's success over Jose Mourinho's men but has warned against the dangers of being brought back down to earth with a poor performance in east London. "All of the players and fans enjoyed the score against Chelsea," said the boss. "The game was good, we showed character and quality and I was really happy. "It’s always good to win against the top sides but at the end of the day it was only three points. We had confidence before that game because we were winning and doing the right things, but now we have won I think we have more confidence. "As always, our idea is to take things

NIGEL Reo-Coker answered Alan Curbishley's call to do his talking on the pitch by grabbing the winner in the West Ham manager's first game in charge.
Skipper Reo-Coker, who has suffered a slump in form this season and has been linked with a move from the club, scored the only goal at Upton Park against Barclays Premiership leaders Manchester United.
United's lead at the summit had been cut to two points following Chelsea's win earlier in the day, and they were denied by a polished performance from goalkeeper Robert Green.
Green kept the hosts in the game with a stunning save to deny Cristiano Ronaldo in the second half, and Reo-Coker's near-post finish meant a triumphant start to Curbishley's reign.
Curbishley, who grew up in nearby Canning Town, had promised to select his starting XI on what he had seen in training since his appointment on Wednesday.
As a result Carlos Tevez, the Argentina striker who has not broken his Hammers duck, was on the bench and there was no place for h
In a blink of an eye, what was once an 8 point lead is now only 2 points. With the way Chelsea is playing (boring but effective) it's only a matter of time before they catch up or overtake us. It was a disappointing effort by our boys today.
One thing we established today is that we should never...I mean NEVER watch a late Sunday kickoff at Cow's house again. It jinxed us with the Arsenal game, and today, it jinxed us again. Kentona, I hope you're reading this!
We never looked comfortable in the game today. Other than taking long shots, which Green did well to keep out, we never really got our game going. Whether it was down to West Ham trying to impress new boss, Curbishley, or packing men in front of the back four, they managed to put us off our flowing style.
It obviously didn't help that we had no support from the flanks. Whenever Giggs or Ronaldo had the ball, they cut in instead of going down the byline and crossing the ball. To be frank, no one really had a good game.

what a good day it was on Saturday. Aston Villa 1 - 0 West Ham. We should and could have scored more. John Carew got his first Villa goal on his home debut, and I was pleased with what i saw of his new strike partnership with Ashley Young. I think that these two forwards have the potential to prove excellent signings for Aston Villa. Even though not match fit, John Carew showed moments of real promiss, and Ashley Young had a good touch on the ball. There was a real buzz around Villa Park. The Holte End never stopped singing, and West Ham were drowned out on the few occasions that they tried to sing.McCann had a shot that just missed and Patrick Berger's Goal should have stood - It looked good to me and my Dad from the Doug Ellis Upper anyway!!!
Yes you are not reading wrong, Charlton put 4 past West Ham today, in a relegation 6 pointer. Curbishley's homecoming!!!We were amazing, out of this world. I was psyched for this match on the train up, and when I met up with fellow drummer James at Waterloo, I was even more. Down the Royal Oak for a few pints, and then in the ground. The atmosphere was buzzing from even before kick off!It got off to a good start, and we were clearly on top of the match and this was summed up when ambrose scored on '24. 10 minutes later, Jerome Thomas added a second. We were in heaven, but even more so when Darren bent on his return added a third!!!! Amazing goin into half time with a 3 goal lead! It was amazing! The atmosphere at half time was buzzing! Unbelievable. So our usual half time pints, and a bit of chanting in the concourses, we were back in our seats for an amazing second half, with the atmosphere still buzzing. About '80 Jerome Thomas got Charlton's fourth and his second! And it was wra
The saga of West Ham rumbles on today.
The club have confirmed to the stock market that they are in take-over talks. At stake are 20, 202, 352 ordinary shares valued at 25p, or a total of £5,050,588. Which if true would appear to be as astounding as the transfer of Tevez and Mascherano.
Recently, the American Randy Lerner, owner of the Cleveland Browns, took over premiership club Aston Villa with an offer of $118.8million (@ £60million). And arguably Aston Villa are a bigger club than West Ham. They have been in the Premiership longer, have won the European Cup, and have a bigger stadium.
President for Media Sports International, Kia Joorabchian, denied that his company were involved in the take over, he told Radio Five Live, "MSI is a company that will not invest in European football as such by investing in a club, so that speculation is out for sure."
Which raises the question of what he means by 'as such'? And why did the company enter into take over talks with the
Freddie Sears is a name on every West Ham fans lips in much the same way as Adel Taarabt has become something of a fantasy figure at White Hart Lane, and both have already shown glimpses of their potential ability in the few minutes of Premier League action that they have seen.
Taarabt arrived with an [...]
