      Webber in American Idol
It's 1:06 a.m. and I just finished watching American Idol 7. There are only six contestants left: Jason Castro, David Cook, David Archuleta, Brooke White, Syesha Mercado and Carly Smithson. The week's theme songs are those composed by the brilliant British composer Andrew Lloyd Webber. My first encounter with Webber was in the 70's when his musical Jesus Christ Superstar was premiered and became a hit. The compositions of Webber are not easy to sing because of the great voice range called for.Tonight, the brilliant performers were Syesha, the two Davids and Carly. I would say it is goodbye to either Jason or Brooke this week. Jason sang Memory from Cats. Hearing his interpretation made me cringe. Heck! I think it even made Jason cringe! Brooke, her voice strained and unsuitable, forgot

      Mark Webber's Feelings on F1 2007 season
Mark Webber was asked his feelings on the 2007 F1 season recently and his comments I’m sure are echoed throughout the F1 fan world. Here’s what he had to say: bbxxy42-1822a470d2-55 “All the political and legal problems were a pain, because from a sporting point of view it was exciting.” “Michael Schumacher had gone, Alonso was a double champion and nobody expected a newcomer like Hamilton to challenge Fernando and Kimi Raikkonen”. “There were too many complications though. It makes it hard for the fans to understand how it all works. It would be better to just fill up with fuel, go to the track and whoever is fastest wins. Unfortunately though, it isn’t that easy”. Fill up with fuel, go to the track and whoever is fasted wins! I say, let’s go. Webber: ‘We’ll keep chipping away’
Mark Webber has lauded Red Bull’s progress in recent weeks but cautioned that there is a long way to go. Although the Anglo-Austrian constructor missed out on a bumper points haul in Japan and China, the team have started to show its potential. The Australian driver explained that the test session in Spain before the final leg of the season unlocked the secret to getting the best out of the Adrian Newey designed RB3. “Yeah, the Jerez test was quite encouraging for us because we changed the car a little it, but not a huge amount,” the 31-year-old told autosport.com. “There have been months during the mid-season where we’ve known that we wanted to try to address things that we wanted to do differently, and we’ve got those on the car, which is better for us. Horner: DC risen to Webber challenge
Red Bull Racing’s team principal Christian Horner believes David Coulthard has ‘risen to the challenge’ presented to him by team-mate Mark Webber this season. The Scot will continue to race alongside the Australian in 2008 after his contract extension was made public at the British Grand Prix last month and Horner told F1 Racing magazine that he couldn’t be happier with his driver line-up. “Mark and David are the best combination available to us, and I don’t mean that in a derrogatory more…

      Webber admits to reliability worries
Mark Webber admitted that Red Bull’s poor reliability record was playing on his mind as he headed for third place in the European Grand Prix. The Renault-powered RB3’s fragility has cost both Webber and team-mate David Coulthard a number of points finishes this season. But both cars made it to the flag in Germany, with Webber taking his first podium in two seasons in third, and Coulthard completing the team’s best ever combined result in fifth. “I wasn’t that confident to be honest because if more…

      Red Bull hails Webber’s performance
Red Bull boss Christian Horner praised Mark Webber’s efforts after the Australian equalled the team’s best qualifying performance of the season and grabbed sixth on the grid at the Nurburgring. The Australian easily made it into the final part of qualifying, and then beat Red Bull’s usual upper midfield rivals to take the ‘best of the rest’ spot behind the Ferraris, Fernando Alonso and the BMWs. “Mark put together a sequence of excellent laps today,” Horner said. “The first were in the second more…

Webber certain RBR will come good
Mark Webber remains confident that Red Bull will eventually take a giant leap up the grid, even though the squad has struggled to break out of the midfield this year. Hopes were high for 2007 as the team introduced its first Adrian Newey-designed, Renault-powered chassis. But despite showing flashes of pace, the RB3 has yet to fulfil its potential and has been struck by poor reliability - leaving Red Bull seventh in the constructors’ standings at the season’s halfway point. However Webber said more…

Formula 1 - Webber to test drive Singapore F1 track
Australian Red Bull driver Mark Webber will take to the streets of Singapore this weekend for a trial run of the city-state's proposed Formula One race, the Straits Times reported on Tuesday. Singapore is in talks with Formula One over the hosting of a street circuit grand prix, which may be held at night, under floodlights -- a first for the sport. The report said Webber would drive a Porsche 911 GT3 for Saturday's test run "within the legal speed limit". "We didn't have enough time to get the clearance for a high-speed run," Jyn Wee, Red Bull's brand manager in Singapore, was quoted as saying. The GT3 has a top speed in excess of 300 kph and can go from 0-100 kph in less than five seconds.

Webber: Schumi's shadow 'suffocating' for Kimi Raikkonen.
Mark Webber has questioned the logic behind Michael Schumacher's appearance in the Ferrari garage at a number of pre-season Formula One tests, likening it to "having your ex-girlfriend there".The straight-talking Aussie said he was glad he was not the man in Kimi Raikkonen's position at the Scuderia, claiming filling the seven-time world champion's boots was a task intimidating and arduous enough without having the German watching over your every move too. "We know Michael couldn't have raced until he was 60, but it's odd having him at the tests like he is," Webber said. "It's like having your ex-girlfriend there or something. Kimi must be there going "what the..?' It must feel so strange having the teacher's pet standing above you when you are trying to get on with your own new programme. Suffocating or what?"The 30-year-old did add, however, he believed the sport would be far more open and competitive now following Schumacher's departure, and would allow other drivers the
