A Gold Bar man was killed when he lost control of his motorcycle on a ramp to Highway 2 near Snohomish. Apparently he crossed the centerline and hit a semi truck. Witnesses say the man was riding close to two other motorcyclists heading from state Route 9 to Highway 2 at around 2 p.m. when he veered out of control and hit the semi.
According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety:
Fifty-five percent of all reported fatal motorcycle crashes occurring nationally in 1998 involved multiple vehicle crashes and 45% occurred in single-vehicle crashes.
Five crash types account for 86% of fatal motorcycle crashes: motorcycle runs-off-road 41%, motorcycle or other vehicle runs traffic control 18%, head-on collision 11%, car turns in front of cycle 8% and mot

Texting while driving is always a very bad idea. Things happen too fast on the highway. You shouldn't take your eyes off the road long enough to read or type a message. The Washington State Patrol plans to vigorously enforce the state's new law against sending text messages while driving now that the law is in effect. But texting while driving is a secondary violation. Which means that troopers cannot stop drivers if they see them texting. But it could mean drivers end up with two tickets instead of just one. If they see other driving errors, such as weaving or unsafe lane changes, they can write a second citation under the texting law if that contributed to the first violation. If a text message or cell phone call requires immediate attention, you
There seems to be a sudden increase in wrong-way driving accidents occurring in the metro Seattle area.
Between Dec. 1, 2007 and January 13, 2008 the State Patrol has received 23 reports of wrong-way drivers in King County.
Not only have we have noticed more of these types of accidents being reported in the news, but lately we've received several inquires from wrong-way accident victims. So we decided to look into the matter to find out just how big of a problem wrong-way driving is in Washington State. What we discovered was somewhat surprising. Here is what we learned.
Today, the Washington State Senate Transportation Committee is meeting to discuss a bill (Senate Bill 6402) that would require some drivers convicted of DUI to drive only a vehicle that has front and rear yellow license plates for a year once their driving privileges are restored. Currently, only Ohio has a similar law in effect. Failure to drive with a fluorescent plate or trying to disguise the plate's color would be a misdemeanor.
If passed, the new law would take effect January 1, 2009.
My cousin Mary and her husband John took us on three days of incredible drives around the Olympic Peninsula, including its' namesake Olympic National Park, their town of Sequim, historic Port Angeles and Lake Crescent. We thoroughly enjoyed our days there and fell in love with this beautiful and unspoiled area. Most importantly, I had a long overdue reunion with my favorite cousin. Thank you Mary and John for a wonderful trip and opening your home to our 12 feet!Olympic National Park. These are extraordinary mountains. We picked up a National Park 'passport' and our first park stamp here. Can you imagine Julie Andrews and the Von Trapp children running across this mountain-top meadow? We didn't see the Von Trapps, but we did enjoy a yummy picnic of chicken, salad and home baked brownies. Th

Four title insurers in Washington state face nearly $300,000 in fines after being accused by the state’s Insurance Commission of violating a rule that limits annual spending on gifts and other inducements to $25 per person.
While many of the offenses involved small expenditures, Washington state regulators appear determined to enforce the letter of the law in their third action against title insurers since an investigation conducted in 2005 and 2006 found “widespread, pervasive and routine use of illegal spending to steer business to their companies.”
Last month, Washington state Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler

Hunters need to band together and vote these Whack jobs out of office! This is what was on Representative Jay Inslee's webpage!"In the last 10 years, over 800 polar bears have been killed by hunters to decorate American homes. U.S. Reps. Jay Inslee (D-Wash.) and Frank A. LoBiondo (R-N.J.) filed legislation in the House that would end the practice and help stop the decline of the iconic marine mammal, now threatened by global warming. A companion measure is expected to be introduced today in the Senate by U.S. Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.)."I am so glad this was defeated on the floor yesterday! I cannot understand the ignorance that must be present in a mans head to believe that hunters go hunting so that they can decorate their homes! With that little bit of ignorance alone should give most voters all of the knowledge they need to choose another candidate.Lets do the math, 80 polar bears per year for 10 years and close to $4,000,000 in tag fees that go to native tribes in Nunavut. "...the students had been building an elaborate "Legotown," but it was accidentally demolished. The teachers decided its destruction was an opportunity to explore "the inequities of private ownership." According to the teachers, "Our intention was to promote a contrasting set of values: collectivity, collaboration, resource-sharing, and full democratic participation."The article outlines some of the points the teachers discussed with students:"A house is good because it is a community house.""We should have equal houses. They should be standard sizes.""It's important to have the same amount of power as other people over your building."One of the key elements of communism was that no one can be better than anybody else. This is what happens in blue states folks. And it's leftists that poison your kids with this crap.

A bill has been introduced in the Washington State Legislature that would authorize a limited pilot program allowing small samples of beer and wine to be handed out to adults in grocery stores.Under the program, 30 grocery stores would be involved in the test. They would be allowed to give customers no more than 4 ounces during a tasting session and would only be permitted to host the in-store tastings once a month. The program would enable consumers to try various wines and beers before plunking down their hard earned money to buy a full bottle or six pack. Not so fast says the Washington Association for Substance Abuse and Violence Prevention. The group claims that sampling beer and wine in grocery stores would send the wrong message to underage shoppers. The group is lobbying that the program would show community support for alcohol use and lead to more abuse of alcohol by young people.Grocers in the state argue the program would help educate consumers and support smaller brands from
