I've been nibbling on this question for the past 3 weeks, and it seems that I still don't have a 100% sure answer on it ;) Mrs. Budgetsaresexy and I had already agreed that we should NOT renew it, thus letting the expiration date come and go, but they JUST sent us another friendly reminder - sneaky marketers! It's hard because I usually go w/ my original instinct, which in this case says to renew i
I’m not a big believer in buying extended warranties or purchasing extra service contracts, so I usually pass whenever I’m asked. This happens more often at big electronic retailer stores like Best Buy and Circuit City, where they make concerted efforts to convince unwitting customers to buy extra protection that frequently is unnecessary. That is the question!People have a mass of preconceptions about hybrid cars. Some of these stem from the first few years of hybrids on the market, where battery problems clouded consumers’ joy about these fuel efficient cars finally being attainable. With Lexus, Toyota, Mercury, Honda, Ford and other makers coming out with better and better hybrids each year, some of the kinks about these mileage masters are finally being worked out. The more hybrids people purchase, the more that people trust that hybrids will work for them too. So, the question is whether manufacturers are offering adequate warranties for these vehicles. Are makers compensating for consumers’ fears by placing excellent warranties on their hybrids, or are they just placating us with enough to make us not think ab

The refurbished iPhones that went on sale last week gave many who were waiting for a price drop a chance to buy one at a significantly lower price than usual, but there might be some issues with the warranty information. Erica Sadun purchased one of the units herself, and she had to correct Apple on the warrant information. Many of the refurbished iPhones sold came with a sticker on the box saying that the device came with a 1-year Apple warranty. However, upon checking the warranty self-checking site, Erica Sadun found that her warranty was set to expire on the 22nd of July. After calling Apple and being told that the date was correct, she called again and explained that it came with the sticker, this time having her warranty extended to the correct length advertised. If you purchased one of

Standard Coverage for a Home Warranty-what to Expect Home warranties have been around for years. However, until recently, home warranties were a well kept secret. Today, home warranties are much more common and are steadily rising in popularity. Although now, many people just don't know much about home warranties including what 'standard coverage' is for a home warranty and what they can expect for coverage from a home warranty.A home warranty is exactly like the warranty you have on your appliances for the most part. It works similarly, some things are covered and some things are not. When you buy a new dishwasher, you check out the warranty before you purchase it to see what is covered by the warranty and what isn't. You wouldn't purchase a dishwasher without a decent warranty - so why w
Whether you are buying a new construction home or a pre owned home it is very important to understand the home warranty and what it covers. Home warranty’s are there to protect you from unexpected expenses.Buying a New Home is an excellent way to get exactly what you’re looking for. You don’t have to deal with shag carpet and outdated kitchens. You get to pick out every color, appliance and other details for your home to make it yours. The best part of buying a new home (no it’s not the new home smell) is that the builder provides a home warranty for the home. So if anything should go wrong it is usually covered. As a new home owner, you don’t have to worry about any unexpected expenses. Usually the builders warranty covers everything in the home except paint, for the first 1 to

Alexis Glick interviews Consumerist editor Carey Greenberg-Berger and dusty-and-broken PS3 owner Reid Godshaw about the warranty-voiding debacle on the Fox Business News show Money for Breakfast.
Alexis talks about this being all the rage on the blogosphere and how much people are outraged. Quite the PR nightmare for Sony right before the holiday shopping season. While Sony should replace his PS3 because of all the games and movies the guy bought for it, I still have to admit that when I first saw the dusty PS3 pictures a while back, I thought it was a joke! The owner must have never dusted or cleaned it in any way at all for it to get THAT dusty, seriously, cleaning your house once or twice a week isn’t that hard. But the real issue here is Sony’s lackluster customer support, while this may be negligence on the owner’s behalf, there’s no denying how far friendly support goes. Watch the report for more details.

Dust damage falls under 'Act of God' clause, Sony claimsIrate consumers say Sony is taking a hard line on PlayStation 3 warranty repairs, in one case refusing to honor the warranty of a consumer whose PlayStation 3 is “too dusty.”Digging in its heels, Sony refused to share the photos of the dusty machine with the consumer and said he would have to file a subpoena to get them.According to "Ive," who filed a complaint on The Consumerist, a consumer blog, his PlayStation 3 would not read a disc he inserted and then would not eject it.Despite the fact that Ive no longer had the receipt, Sony customer care said the product would still be under warranty and gave him instructions on how to return the defective product.Five days later he received a call from "Neil" at Sony who says they had taken pictures of the inside and outside of the case and that it is too dusty to be eligible for repair or replacement.Link to complete story: http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2007/11/sony_warra
Book DescriptionThe body is the most fascinating machine ever created, and nobody talks about it in ways that are as illuminating and compelling as Dr. Michael Roizen and Dr. Mehmet Oz. Most people think of the aging of our bodies the same way we think of the aging of our cars: the older we get, the more inevitable it is that we're going to break down. Most of us believe that at age 40 or so, we begin the slow and steady decline of our minds, our eyes, our ears, our joints, our arteries, our libido, and every other system that affects the quality of life (and how long we live it). But according to Dr. Roizen and Dr. Oz, that's a mistake.Aging isn't a decline in our systems. It's actually very purposeful. The very systems and biological processes that age us are designed to help us when we'
When I first purchased my laptop from Dell back in 2005 I decided to buy the complete care package warranty because my laptop was basically going to be my office. Today as I sit here in Japan I’m glad that I did! My headphone jack is failing, only the right headphone/speaker is working, and that’s a problem because I often work with headphones on. I was on the phone for 45 minutes today with Dell and found out my warranty covers repairs in the U.S. and other international locations which is great! I should hear from a tech here in Japan within 10 business days and my motherboard will be replaced free of charge in the comfort of my home. I’m satisfied with Dell and their products. I’ve only had one problem with my Dell Inspiron 9300 and that was the DVD drive a year ago. They swapped it out no problem and I was back in action within 48 hours of my phone call. Nice!
Yes! And on flooring, no less! At iFLOOR, that’s what you’ll get.
In response to a growing number of warranty claims being denied for online buyers, iFLOOR is adding up to $1,000,000 of warranty protection for all customers. In return, iFLOOR reserves the right to seek legal justice on behalf of their customers.
Now I ask you, can you find a better deal than that? I seriously doubt it!
Press Release:
iFLOOR, America’s largest online flooring retailer, today announced a $1,000,000 limited warranty designed to protect its customers from predatory manufacturer policies that exclude warranty coverage from online purchases.
The policy, which goes into effect immediately, offers up to one million dollars of coverage in the event that a customer’s warranty claim is denied specifically because they made their purchase online. It is complimentary for every iFLOOR customer, and protects the buyer under the same terms as the original product warranty.

ROUSH Performance, America’s leading powertrain engineering group, has added an additional 30 horsepower to their legendary ROUSHchargerTM system for the Ford Mustang GT; this increases the output of this supercharger system to a total of 445 horsepower under the hood.
The additional horsepower comes from changing to a slightly smaller pulley and an enhanced PCM calibration to take advantage of the higher spin rate. Customers with a previously installed ROUSHchargerTM can upgrade to this High Boost Pressure Pulley by ordering part number 402863 which has a suggested retail price of $389.00.
With the addition of the upgraded ROUSHchargerTM any 2005-2008 Ford Mustang GT can be increased to 445 horsepower with 418 lb.-ft. of torque. This is a 48-percent horsepower gain over the stock engine’s 300 ponies. This ROUSHchargerTM system will soon be legal in all 50 states for both manual and automatic vehicles.

NeoGAF user Hooterville somehow got himself a copy of Halo 3 early (hmmmm), chose to go with the “Limited Edition” version, and it came scratched brand new. He shows with three pics the packaging and the disc, and it is pretty easily seen why exactly the discs are scratching. You know that little circle thingy that actually holds the disc in place, it seems that someone forgot to put it there, I mean, there is something that resembles what would hold a disc in the middle, but it is more of a shadow of a little circle thingy than a full on nub that would hold the disc in. Enough of my scientific big words, look no further than the pictures below:
Is this how all our copies will come if we went with the Limited Edition (This was the one I wanted to get, Legendary was too much, but I can’t just get the regular). If you pre-ordered in store somewhere, make sure to open up your copy in the story at the clerks desk to ensure if it is scratched they seen you open it
You may be contented driving your Cadillac or two-door sedan and pleased that everything seems to go well for some time now. Nevertheless, does the idea of permanent peace for your car really sit well with you? Sooner or later, your car will experience breakdown due to heavy use or simply overtime and how would you expect to be rescued from a staggering bill on the repair shop? Car warranty is your salvage ticket when something goes wrong with your car in the future. It doesn't only boost your equanimity under pressure of car damage but it also provides safety and protection to your vehicle. General Motors paved the way to the idea of car warranty in the industry when it offered a three-year coverage bumper-to-bumper warranty when it eliminated its long-term power train warranty. Following the company's example, Ford and Chrysler modified their offer by putting forward power train protection for 6 years or 100,000 miles for Ford and 7 years or 70,000 miles for Chrysler. It seems like Microsoft finally decided to step up and fix some of the major problems that 360 owners have been complaining about. After recent reports showed the average console failure rate at 33% rather than Microsoft's originally stated 5%, the console maker stepped up by adding 2 years to its current 1 year repair policy for consoles which showed the dreaded '3 Red Lights' Error. The company hopes this will strike a boost sales and increase customer satisfaction, as well as to stay on even grounds with the comfirmed $100 price drop on the Playstation 3. I am personally very pleased as a 360 owner, since I am assured a working console for the next 3 years. Despite, this, it was not all good news on Microsoft's part, as they will be ending up paying about 1.5 billion dollars to deal with the console repairs.Original Article Below: http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/13876/Microsoft-Extends-Xbox-360-Warranty-to-Three-Years/"An open letter from Peter Moore, corporate vice president of t
Open Letter From Peter MooreTo our Xbox Community:You've spoken, and we’ve heard you. Good service and a good customer experience are areas of the business that we care deeply about. And frankly, we've not been doing a good enough job. Some of you have expressed frustration with the customer experiences you have had with Xbox 360; frustration with having to return your console for service after receiving the general hardware error message on the console. The majority of customers who own Xbox 360 consoles have had a terrific experience from their first day, and continue to, day in and day out. But when anyone questions the reliability of our product, or our commitment to our customers, it's something I take very seriously. We have been following this issue closely, and with on-going testing have identified several factors that can cause a general hardware failure indicated by three flashing red lights on the console. To address this issue, and as part of our ongoing work, we have

Age plays its number without sound. But when we hear it, it’s a crash. We live in a finite world and believe in timeless beauty. But ofcourse reality is something else. Plastic surgery or reconstructive surgery helps regain that youthful look. Body contouring surgery addresses all the areas and helps bring your body shape back. It includes a number of procedures like liposuction, tummy tuck, body lift, thigh lift, arm lift, breast lift, face and neck lift. These procedures used in conjunction help regain beauty lost to age.A traditional facelift would be a major surgery which would take some recovery time. Though our surgeons today are trying minimally invasive surgeries. They identify and target just the real problem area. They just try and restore lost volume and improve the contours of the face. The major areas of aging are addressed and the youthful look is regained with a less extensive surgery. The surgery aims at a youthful look but with a more natural appearance.Plastic surg

Yes, I know, we all have to buy ink for our printers. And, yes, it is exorbitantly expensive. If you purchase a cheaper printer, your ink will probably cost as much as the printer did.
But you can purchase ink at much cheaper prices if you know where to look. My favorite place is at #1 Inkjet, where you can save up to 80% over regular prices. The trouble is that there is a misconception going around that if you use third party ink you will void your printer’s warranty.
Not true, as discussed in a recent article at PC World.
According to Canon, Epson, and Lexmark, using a third-party ink cartridge will not void your warranty. If the cartridge itself damages your printer, then you’re out of luck.
But the chances of that happening aren’t that great.
And if you’re really concerned about using manufacturer’s cartridges, just use them for the first year. Then your warranty will be up and you can start saving some money on i
Yes, I know, we all have to buy ink for our printers.

So, you're Shopping For A Digital Camera And Find A Great Deal... But It's Labelled "Grey Market". What's Up With That?
Â
If you've been shopping for camera gear online, you've definitely encountered the "grey market" camera gear. You know, they are the ones that cost about $100+ less than the local versions. What's the difference? From a technical point of view... nothing. They're all made in similar places and with the same tolerances. What differs is the manufacturer support of the device and the accompanying instructions... which if you're like me, you're probably googling the instructions ANYways.
So, why should or shouldn't you go and buy a grey market camera?
Well, here is a short and definitely not-exhaustive list:

When I purchased my first new car back in 2004 I made sure that I purchased an Extended Auto Warranty because I know that I was going to need it. The basic warranty that came with the car was for 60,000 miles. I extended that coverage to 100,000 miles. And I am very glad that I did so. I had a very expensive component break down and because I had the Extended Auto Warranty I was able to avoid a huge repaid charge.Maybe an extended warranty is not right for you, maybe it is. You can learn more about these types of warranties by clicking the links in this post. They will take you to a site that explains what an extended auto warranty is and whether or not it is the right choice for you and your car buying experience. This was a sponsored post. Warranty problems A warranty is a promise A warranty is a seller’s promise that a product will perform as intended. The warranty tells what items the seller will pay to fix after the sale, and for how long. A vehicle may have a "manufacturer warranty" that obligates the manufacturer to pay the cost of certain repairs. Or it may have a "dealer warranty" that obligates the dealer to pay. If a car comes with a warranty, you are entitled to get the warranty in writing from the dealership. Read the warranty carefully to learn what is covered, for how long, who pays for the repairs, and what you must do to keep the warranty in effect. New and used car warranties All new cars come with a manufacturer warranty. Tires, batteries, and dealer-installed options may have separate manufacturer warranties. Some used cars come with a warranty
General Motors is trying to take the GM or Certified Used Vehicle Sales to the next level. They will be offering a 100000 mile warranty on USED VEHICLES! WOW!First, it has to be a Certified Vehicle from a Certified Used Dealer. A Certified Used GM Vehicle is a car, truck, or SUV from the year model 2002-2006 with less than 60000 miles. Notice that I did not include 2007 models. This is because they already have the 100000 mile warranty included. Brands included are Chevrolet, GMC, Pontiac, Buick. The warranty is a warranty that will cover engine, transmission, drive train. It is not a bumper to bumper warranty, but will cover the major components that cost the most to fix. This will take the GM sales to record levels this year as it will offer peace of mind. Imagine, you are looking at a 2003 GM Car with 45000 miles. Under the old Certified Program, you would receive a 3 month, 3000 mile bumper to bumper warranty only. You still receive this, but also get the 100000 power train warranty

Generally speaking it’s safe to assume that the longer you have an electronics device the less likely it is to malfunction. That’s what I’ve been told at least.
There are many, many, many people out there who claim this is the case. These same people tend to tell you that extended warranties are a “rip-off.” Enter a post on Engaget today. If your TV or Digital Camera is going to die, they claim, it will happen after the extended warranty expires.
Bullshit.
In my experience, and I have plenty of experience with personal electronics, gadgets tend to go out right after the manufacturer’s warranty expires. I’ve seen it happen with PCs, Digital Cameras and even Game Consoles. My XBox360, as I’ve said before, died just shortly after Microsoft’s warranty expired.
I’m gonna go ahead and point to one big reason why extended warranties, especially on next-gen consoles, are important: bricked 360s.
Since the release of the XBox360 c
