Warhol led the 2007 table of the world's 500 most auctioned artists with $422.3 million in sales, more than doubling the year- earlier $199.6 million, Artprice said. Seventy-four Warhol works sold for more than $1 million, led by the hammer price of $64 million paid for ``Green Car Crash'' at Christie's International, New York, in May. Profondamente superficiale! Andy Warhol

Andy Warhol Changed The Modern Art World
My early thoughts about this art world icon were sorely incomplete and inwardly deceptive, this figure had a very silent but exposive personality that caused everyone who met him to misinterpret him. Behind the blonde hair and nu vogue wardrobe lied a rather intriquing and accomplished visual artist - an artist that would change society and help usher in the “pop culture". Andy Warhol was a catalyst for a new world structuralization of our normal psyche, revealing a new and a exciting chapter in our ways of viewing the art world. He showed that the visual arts can commune with and influence all in a very profund way.The vision of Andy Warhol was in the changing of what we as consumers of visual communication consider art, and thereby challenging the established criteria by which the arts are judged by the art world elite. Warhol’s cans, portraits and other works were an attempt to lead the way in this direction. Since his rampage on the art scene, art has become more accessible to

      Burger Art: Andy Warhol
I dunno. It's Andy Warhol eating a hamburger. You can imagine some folks sitting around on the floor watching this quietly, then exclaiming how "genius" it is. Ugh!I know. I know. A lack of an "art" education (Rap Snacks tell us to "Stay In Skool") doesn't let some folks see some kind of statement being made about pop culture because he is eating at Burger King. Sorry. That Ray Johnson story in How to Draw a Bunny about his friend shooting a stack of the Marylin Monroe prints in the head is pretty good though.

Do You Still Want Your 15 Minutes Of Andy Warhol's Promise Of Fame? Here's One Way And It Works
By Rick London Have you had your 15 minutes of fame that Andy Warhol promised us all. And if you did, how was it? I had several hours of it back in the late 1980's when I created a bus tour in Washington, D.C which had “theater”, music and actors in it called Scandal Tours. It was fun, for awhile, but believe it or not became tiresome; media interviews daily etc., and frankly, I didn't enjoy the business after a few months.Had another brush with fame when I wasn't even trying creating a cartoon on the Internet called Londons Times Cartoons. I had no idea I was becoming “famous” until I looked at the counter and saw million visitors on the counter since 2005. So I can honestly say, it didn't change my life. I didn't go out and buy a Ferrari or a big house on the ocean. I guess I could though. Too tired now and frankly enjoy the quietness and serenity and all it offers to keep one creative. The cost of living is low and much more energy can be spent being creative than “pla

Warhol Foundation Accused of Art Market Conspiracy!!!
Warhol Foundation Accused of Art Market Conspiracy!!! The media has recently been filled with reports of the Andy Warhol Foundation being involved in extremely dodgy practices aimed at monopolising the market for, and increasing the value of Warhol’s work which has resulted in an American man suing the foundation. Apparently the Andy Warhol Foundation has been labeling works inauthentic that are in fact authentic in order to create more demand for Warhol’s work. The law suit has been filed by a film producer by the name of Joe Simon-Whelan who claims that an Andy Warhol work (a silkscreen portrait of Andy Warhol) that he owns has been authenticated on many separate occasions by not only the same people who are now denying its authenticity but also by major auction houses. Not only has the foundation denied authenticity of the work but it has also stamped the back of the silk screen with a red denied stamp which has bled through the canvas and is now visible through the ac

      Warhol and Cheese
What a day! Full of adventure, new things, and variety. This will go down as one of the best days of the trip probably. Perhaps I should make another list, the top 10 days of the trip. I’ll have to give that some thought and see what I can come up with. It was great that I had my own room. Couches can get old after a while. It allowed me to sleep in for a nice slow start to the day. Shortly after lunch my destination became The Andy Warhol Museum in downtown Pittsburgh, right next to PNC Park. Brittany played host for the afternoon and we only took one wrong turn downtown. I’ve been a Warhol fan for as long as I’ve known the name. I had seen a lot of his work before at various museums, but not so much all at one place. Though it still seemed like a small museum for all the work he did. Now for all the works of art that Warhol produced that I would love to hang on my walls, there are just as many that just don’t appeal to me. Mostly I love his colorful screen prints.

      Andy Warhol

Buona domenica blog.
