Admittedly, Waikiki is a bit crazy and hectic and not really a place you go to feel the island love. Seriously, its worth the visit. We found this great deal on PerfectEscapes.com for the four-star Hyatt Regency Waikiki. Stay by June 10, and you'll get a third night free. lovely memories of waikiki
Though I'm now in the second month of February and entering March in a few days' time, it is not easy to part with the wonderful memories we had in Hawaii. It was such a lovely place to have a family vacation - relaxed ambience, friendly locals, great weather, awesome beaches and rich culture. The above shows Waikiki beach at Marriott Waikiki's end - how I miss these beautiful blue skies. You could Clayton and myself were having so much fun with the rented float in the lagoon in front of Marriott Waikiki hotel... a great place to stay if you don't mind spending a little more :)

Wacky-Wacky Parking Fees at Waikiki Hotels
You might get a great deal on a rental car on the island of Oahu. But if you stay in Waikiki, as almost all visitors to Oahu do, you may pay as much as $25 (plus tax) to park your car for the night, according to a survey of Waikiki hotels conducted by Travel Hawaii LLC in Honolulu (), a leading Hawaii Internet booking service.Travel Hawaii's survey found that parking rates at six Waikiki hotels will run you $25 per night (plus a buck for taxes), for example at the Embassy Suites Waikiki Beach Walk and the new Wyland Waikiki. back on land on waikiki
Oh yes - we are back on land after seven days in the islands of Hawaii. So how was the cruise, you asked? My answer: fantastic! It was awesome! Though I enjoyed cruising in the islands, it did feel nice to be back in Waikiki, though it was just for a night. We'll be heading to Los Angeles tomorrow to celebrate Christmas and honestly, I am excited. I know I'll miss Waikiki - it is such a lovely place to be. I hope to be back soon and will miss those lovely sunrises and sunsets. I have never taken so many photos of sunrise and sunsets for two weeks in a row!Only thing is I have many many comments to moderate and some assignments to complete. Yes, I know I'm on vacation but I still need to do some work to cover my shopping splurges :) I really love those surf shops and cool shops here.Enough for now, it's time to snooze so that I can maximize my time in Waikiki tomorrow.

      when shopping in waikiki
If you are in Waikiki, the locals will point you to Ala Moana shopping center for shopping options. You can find lots of restaurants and retail shops in the mall, from luggages to men’s jewelry and many luxury labels - Chanel, Gucci, Cellini, Prada..etc. (more…)

      staying fit in waikiki
After spending a week in Waikiki, I notice that this is one place where you can stay fit with little efforts. Just walk along Waikiki beach and it will be good exercise for the day. Though the use of fitness equipment will be great if the hotel you stay provides it but otherwise, just leap into the beach or go play some water sports and it will be a good workout for your body. While DH is doing his surfing, I have been doing lots of walking on the shopping street. I guess I’m toning my legs while satisfying my shopping cravings. This is one vacation that we can stay fit as a family!

      active ones in waikiki
We were watching joggers, hikers and strollers gearing up at the Diamond Head. It seems that the people in Hawaii are a bunch of active individuals who are constantly seen exercising and working out on their surf boards or their feet. Right where we stay, we can see lots of people exercising early in the morning. The scenario here is very different compared to staying in a hotel in Vegas since it is a total resort designed to ensure a total relaxing experience. Waking to a golden sunrise and sleeping at the sounds of roaring waves are both very therapeutic for me… and I’m loving it!

      loving my stay at Waikiki
I don’t know where else can I find another hotel in Waikiki that has 90 over stores in its premises except the Hilton Hawaiian Village. With labels like Louis Vuitton, Coach,Blue Ginger, Crazy Shirts and Tori Richards, you can also find a mini DFS store and the local convenience store, ABC store. Perhaps you can find a one-stop place like this in a Las Vegas hotel too but if in Waikiki, this is the visitor who has no time to go places. Even if you can’t sleep at night, the shops close at 11pm and the ABC store, at 1am - don’t worry about needing that extra drop at that hour. What an ideal place to shop, play, dine and stay!

loving eggs n things at waikiki!
Whenever it comes to food during our vacation, we tend to be easy and flexible. After a few months of research from travel guides and websites, I heard about this fabulous place for breakfast - Eggs N Things. We finally found our way there yesterday morning to discover a queue outside the shop. It was great that it was only 5-10mins walk from our hotel so we didn't take too long to find the place. One peek at the shop and you know that these people are there for some real American breaky. The pancakes arrived in stacks and the fluffy omelettes in a plate full, topped with either rice, potatoes or buttermilk pancakes. It was hard to find a table with no leftovers - I mean, the portion was seriously big enough to feed a hungry family! In this place, people don't talk about corporate performance management or whatsoever, you can tell they are only ready to pig out!For some reason, every tourist or local seems to know the reputation of this infamous breakfast joint! We are certain that thi

      my shopping spree in waikiki
This is our fourth day in Waikiki, Hawaii and we are enjoying every bit of it. For me, this is a shopping paradise though it is an island packed with too many high end luxury branded stores which I may not be able to afford. But you can still find some cool home grown brand names like Crazy Shirt, Honolua Surf Co, Local Fever and others. Be ready to see busy stores in shops like Louis Vuitton, Coach, Gucci, DFS and other big names. In fact, this seems to be a real shopping paradise for the Japanese than anyone else on this island! finally in waikiki!
We had finally set foot on the shores of Waikiki 3 days ago. This is a long awaited holiday for our family and we are so glad this vacation can be made possible. My first impression when I arrived in Waikiki is that this place is packed with lots of condos and apartments, and of course, tourists. Though many think it’s touristy, I still think it’s a great place to relax by the beach and watch the world goes by. We took a day to overcome jetlag and promised ourselves to make this vacation a relaxing one. Traveling with a three year old can be a little challenging in achieving this goal but we are doing great so far. Over the years, the number of luxury homes in Waikiki have increased with more being added each year. I also realized that this is one city that is packed with more branded and luxury retail shops than any other, given its sheer scale. If you like to view some of our trip reports and photos, please feel free to read them in my other blogs. I hope you are taking

      finally in waikiki
Well, well, well, this post is coming to you all the way from Waikiki, Hawaii - Aloha! We reached at 9am (honolulu time) this morning and that was after a 12 hours transit in Seoul and a total of 14 hours traveling time in the plane. While the flight was smooth and the flight service of Korean Airlines had exceeded our expectations, it wasn't even coping with a curious toddler during take off and landing time.Unlike what my BIL said, (who thought that parents with kids must take S'pore Airlines), Korean airlines stewardess were a nice and polite bunch. Infact, I dare say they are better, more friendly and definitely more humble than the SQ girls. Being a Singaporean doesn't mean I will be biased. Anyways, that's not what I want to talk about. While I would love to post more about my first day in Waikiki, I do need some sleep now since I haven't been sleeping well in the last three days. So til then, more Waikiki reports on the way. I'll be heading to Waikele fashion outlets tomorr

      Waikiki Endless Summer
Waikiki, defined as the 600 acres along the 2-mile stretch of beach, open space and high-rise hotels on the south shore of the island of Oahu and part of the Hawaii capital Honolulu, offers a strange mix of artificial and natural beauty. It is filled with shops from the kitschy to the elegant, with sidewalks where stylishly dressed tourists walk next to bikini-clad women carrying surfboards. Chain restaurants and stores compete with local hangouts, nearly all of which are decorated in some form or other by tiki torches, which seem to be everywhere.

      luxury of waikiki
After some late nights of research, I've finally confirmed our Hawaii trip itinerary. We'll be spending 8 days (all in all) in Honolulu and another 7 days on the Hawaii cruise on Pride of America. Looking through the Wakiki hotels and Hawaii home rentals, it looks like I need to raise our budget if I like a condo with oceanview. The ones along Waikiki beach are exorbitant but the location is ideal. Imagine waking up to a golden sunrise or ending the day with a beautiful sunset... unobstructed ocean view! Outrigger has many luxury properties in Waikiki and the prices are nothing less than $250 for a one bedroom!I'm still going to look through the popular pages atHawaii home rentals, just to reconfirm my selection and options. Well, I haven't revealed the rates to the man of the house... he may freak out - lol. Here are some pictures of the hotels/condos in Waikiki...
