Wow! It’s been busy since my last post on December 22. Most of the people with whom I work (day job, that is) started disappearing about December 22 or 23 and won’t return until Monday, January 5. That gave me just about two weeks of no meetings, no work-related telephone calls, and even a reduction [...]

Athens is the pre-eminent city of Greece and the main arrival destination. No city mixes history and a chaotic energy better than Athens.AthensAthens is city with stunning archeological sites, colorful neighbors, overcrowding and smog like you’ve never seen it. For many travelers, the general impression is one of a poetic chaos. Roads are packed, taxi drivers are nuts and shops seem to spill off
What children need most are the essentials that grandparents provide in abundance. They give unconditional love, kindness, patience, humor, comfort, lessons in life. And, most importantly, cookies. ~Rudolph GiulianiThis weekend Ryan and went downstate to see my grandparents, and then to Connecticut to see my brother at school and to see my mom. Whirlwind shopping in Bangkok!
About 2 weekends ago, I jetted off to Bangkok for 36 hours. It was impetous and it was a “pilgrimage” thing so it was something that needed to be done. Once the pilgrimage was out of the way, what else is there to do in Bangkok but [...]

By this post I would like to take the pleasure of introducing the Cass business school’s 2008-09 batch. It’s not long before we all will be landing at Heathrow, some are getting the visa done, some are shopping, some studious ones are going through the induction books, and most are already discussing the schedule of parties, trips and hangouts that will happen in London. Meanwhile Visa is no
My princess Fabiana liliesIt's been a crazy two weeks since I moved - trying to get organized and settled while keeping an eye out for another place to move to since this household is so dysfunctional (to put it mildly). I also caught a nasty cold the day we moved but I'm pretty much over that now.In the meantime, I found out that my daughter's father (whom I'd left when she was 2 months old - 30
Aren't Lotus & I and our babies cute? Meredith, the Queen of Hospitality, had Lotus, Karla and I over for one last lunch before I leave Nashville. I had to pretend everything was normal & I wasn't saying goodbye. I hate goodbyes. I tend to just rush away abruptly like it's it's no big deal and cry in the car on my way home. Kind of like what I did when I read this. ~sniffle~ The house is p
Tomorrow morning (Honestly it’s so early I hesitate to call it tomorrow) I am boarding a plane bound for Denver. I will be meeting up with one of Jaduka’s Business Development (fancy way of saying Sales) guys. We have a meeting in Denver and in the early afternoon we will be flying to Minneapolis where [...]

Kakashi was finally discharged from the hospital and immediately commence with Naruto’s training for his ultimate jutsu that will eventually surpassed Kakashi. Since the training requires huge amount of Naruto’s chakra, Captain Yamato aids Kakashi as the only one who can tame kyuubi’s chakra just in case it went berserk. It was later on revealed that Naruto is a wind user and with not so much time left for him to get stronger; he creates shadow clones, one of each take a leaf and attempt to cut it in half using the wind’s chakra as the first step to creating a new jutsu. Kakashi was surprised seeing one of the clones already started to make a cut on his leaf, which he doesn’t anticipated that it will be that fast. This past weekend, I was able to go to the LLL Area Conference in Chelmsford, MA. I left the Mermaid at home but took the Guppy with me since I was staying overnight and she still wakes up to nurse. The conference was amazing! I learned to much from the session I took, and really, it was just so incredibly relaxing and amazing to be surrounded by mothers who share a similar parenting style. Slings were everywhere, breastfeeding in public was no problem, and everyone was just generally happy and positive towards each other. I also got a new ring sling that I absolutely love!I did attend one session with Dr. Sears about his new book "The Vaccine Book". I wasn't able to sit through the entire session because the Guppy started to get fussy, but what I heard gave me a lot to think about. I'm goi

Whewww, what a Crazy Busy Weekend.By the Grace of God, Saturday afternoon was clear without a Raindrop until our drive home from the Shower. It was a cool day but the Sun was shining. My Stepdaughter with her New Fuchsia hair was so Excited. There was so much food, her boyfriends Mom and Sisters worked so hard preparing all the food. My stepdaughters Mom made Incredible desserts and we ate and ate. There was more Carne Asada, salsa, chips, salad and so much more! Her boyfriends family was so Kind and so Welcoming it truly was a wonderful day. Alicia received so many wonderful gifts and our little Autumn will be a lucky little Princess! As we drove home the clouds became dark and the rain started and it poured. Thank you all for all the Great suggestions for Baby Games, as it turned o
We just recently got home from a six day whirlwind vacation to visit Rudy’s family. I suppose a better way to describe the trip is to call it a family reunion since this was the first time in nearly six years that we have all been together again. I even saw some of [...]
Yesterday was fun, but exhausting. We woke early in the morning for a flight to Orange County, California. Our trip had a specific purpose. My sister, a softball player for the University of Louisville, was competing with her team in a collegiate tournament at Cal State Fullerton. Of course, the trip turned out to be much more than about watching her games. It was a chance to see many family members that we haven't seen in years. Many Grace and Zane had never met before. It was a great family reunion. My sister's team kicked butt, beating UC Davis (11-2) and Oregon State (2-0). I also learned something about my sister. Although I knew she was a phenomenal softball player, I didn't realize she was a powerhouse. Her batting average is spectacular and it showed in her games. Amazing. The day we
This was taken on Main Street near my parents house. It's the perfect place for just strolling along, walking your dog, and has a lot of great restaurants where you could eat out on the patio. Unfortunately this was the best shot I took. I have to apologize for the lack of clarity in these pictures. These are all just snap shots.I would like to quote Kim on this post. "I need a vacation FROM my vacation!!!!!!" John and I are beyond exhausted. First of all, we tried driving up to Toronto wednesday at noon but an hour into the drive, we were not sure if we had left the basement door open for the cat (all her food and kitty litter were down in the basement). We debated back and forth if we should drive back home and ended up going back because we did not want to come home to a house full of poop, or worse, come home to a dead cat! The worst part was that the basement door was already open so we wasted all that time and both kids started getting cranky so we decided to leave early the nex

On March, 8, 1965 the first troops of the US Marine Corps landed on the territory of Southern Vietnam. It was the beginning of a new confrontation between Saigon government and The Liberation Army of Vietnam. During this war the American troops were using not only new weapons, but new battlefield postures as well. One of the most noticeable changes was the extensive use of military helicopters both for transportation and fire support in landing zones. The war in Vietnam became the first military conflict where helicopters played a significant role. Even now the image of the American helicopter Huey is one of the symbols of the operation in Indo-China. One is likely to come across the legendary Huey in every reconstruction of the above-mentioned events, whether this is a movie, a book or a computer game. The game covers the events in November 1965, the operation in the Ia Drang Valley. Players will have a chance to pilot the legendary UH-1B (a gunship featuring maneuverability and fire po
On February 13th, Franklin County Circuit Court Judge Thomas Wingate issued an order granting summary judgment to the legislative defendants in the school funding case, Young v. Williams. With that order the push for adequate funding of Kentucky's public schools was derailed. Getting the train back on track will require more educators to express (again) the courage of their convictions. But ultimate success will require even more support. It will require broad public outcry. This has happened twice before in Kentucky's history. At the turn of the last century, public support for school reform flared...and within a decade, died out.More recently, The Prichard Committee's 1984 Town Forum on KET helped launch the current reform effort. Now again, 17 years after enactment of the Kentucky Education Reform Act - has the flame died yet again? This from Each Child, Every Child: The Story of the Council for Better Education, Equity and Adequacy in Kentucky's Schools.John Grant Crabbe was elec
I got home late last night from a quick trip to see my family in Florida. I haven't been back home since I left the state in 2000! My dad had hip replacement surgery last week and is currently on the mend, but overall he is doing great. It was such a short visit, I didn't really have time to catch up with my friends but I did manage to spend a few hours with my bestfriend from childhood and her family. I can't believe I'm actually old enough to say, "I've known Shari for 27 years". Let me pause a moment to let that sink in....okay. I've known her since I was five, so it's not actually as bad as it seems. Hmmm? Am I justifying here? I'm just going to move on before this gets really pathetic (for instance, I actually thought to myself "but I don't feeeeeeel old"). See, pathetic. Moving on.Unfortunately, we grew apart and didn't really keep in touch until recently by sharing a few emails back and forth. Her parents still live in the same house accross the street wher
If you can afford it, Michael Cheney shows you exactly how you can drive thousands of people to your website in an instant. NOTE: This is highly exclusive stuff from CMN. Check it out!
And yes... I did say 'If you can afford it'. But it's proven to be effective. If you have the cash, and are willing to spend it, this is the way to go. For those long term readers of the site (over a month), which is roughly 16% of you, you'll know that I interviewed Michael over Skype a while back. I also work for his organization now, helping around, doing what I can. Here is another interview that I can publish. Admittedly, no. This one isn't exclusive, but so what? It's cool enough to be worth a mention.
Q. First off - can you tell us a little about yourself for those people that maybe haven't heard of you yet?
A. Sure. I first got involved in the Internet in 1995 when I built my very first website. It started out as a hobby but soon more and more people wanted websites.
I then soon re
Yesterday's Lean Construction Congress generated 12 postings. Today was different. I got caught up in conversations and only have rough notes. I'll clean those up and post over the next day or so.

it's ten past midnight and i just got home from my whirlwind weekend in Seoul. i hadn't been up there yet, and since i'm on vacation this week, and my friend kim was meeting some friends there this weekend, i hopped on the KTX with her. of course, the first thing i have to do when i get home is upload my pictures and start posting!!! can't keep my away from here for long! so, in that vein, here is part one of my whirlwind weekend... it'll take a few days to post it all, since i'll go step by step and don't want to overwhelm all of my loyal readers...FRIDAYit already feels like a hundred years ago... i had to work until 4:30. our train (on the KTX - not sure what it actually stands for, but it's the bullet train... and goes up to 300 kilometers per hour) was at 9:13PM... so we met at Gupo station around 8:30.i'm lucky that i live pretty close to the high speed train, it only takes me about thirty minutes on the bus and another ten on the subway... if i lived any further west it
(or more celectronics than you can imagine and the continuation of the search for merrell shoes - OR finally the end of these posts on seoul!!!)monday morning we had to get up early (10ish) since check out was at eleven... check out at kim's guest house means dropping your keys and sheets into a box in the living room...everything is paid for when you check in, so there's no hassles when you leave... we had our coffee and toast and headed to seoul station to find a locker to drop off our many bags. cyndi's flight was leaving at 8pm so we had the whole day to do more exploring and we knew we had to go to the electronics market.yongsan stationafter dropping our stuff in the locker, which turned out to be more difficult than it should have been, we headed to yongsan station and the yongsan electronics arcade. there are over 7,000 stores in 24 buildings covering an area of nearly 900,000 square meters! i was like a kid in a candy store!the first building we saw when we came out of the s
(or more shopping and eating)we left gangnam around sunset. we were meeting dan at dongdaemun market at 8, so we had some time to shop in this incredible shopping area. i would recommend this place to anyone visiting seoul... the best shopping in the country can be found here.dongdaemun is the big black spot!i had been looking for a pair of jeans for two days, but never found anything that fit that wasn't covered in sparkles, glitter or other weird decorations... but i did at dongdaemun. i am now the proud owner of a pair of 100% korean jeans! and actually, after wearing them for a day, they're too big... i should've gone down a size... oh well, at least i know where to go in the future!all malls... shopping, shopping, shopping...we ended up in this mall called "doota!" i didn't take any photos... not sure why, maybe i was justso amazed by the floors and floors of clothes, purses, jewelry, shoes, and everything else under the sun... i was dazzled and too busy looking around to take
(or OMG how many parts is this going to have?!?!? a: as many as it takes!)Insadongtook the subway up there...this area is north of the city center. it didn't take too long on the subway to get there, and was totally worth visiting. again, it's a market centered area with shops lining the streets, but it was WAY cooler than intaewon. it is the artist district and most of the shops were run by artisans and tons of little galleries. you could find many kinds of art here... i'll have to go back before i leave korea to spend lots of money on things like: paintings, ceramics, sculptures, and traditional art.even the benches have sculptures on them! cute little froggies! the street was very busy with people, and the shops all have their wares outside on the street... just down the way we found the free hug girl:i got one from her... it wasn't very good... she probably does it to meet cute boys or something... she didn't speak any english so when i asked her why she was giving away free h
Saturdayafter a groggy late morning of free (what they call) coffee and toast we headed out of our little guest house into the big city of Seoul.a little background -- Seoul means "national capital" in korean, but the city was called Gyeongseong until 1945.- seoul has a population of around 10.2 million (ten times montreal!).- it has been the capital of korea for over 600 years.- the logo to the right is the "city's brand" which was adopted in 2002. (i found this on the internet and find it odd that i didn't know this until after i came home... i didn't see this logo anywhere...) and from the website: "The name combines the greeting "Hi" with the name of the city "Seoul,†the new brand aims to convey a friendly image of Seoul to the global community, and to promote harmony and unity among Seoul citizens."- "the cuddly mascot tiger "Wangbeomi" was born in Feb. 19, 1998. It represents the proud citizens of Seoul with a strong spirit, an open m
(or a night out in seoul)after a long day of walking in the cold shopping and shopping and shopping, we were going to meet up with a friend of kim's from the US - Dan lives and teaches in seoul. we were going to meet him in the Hongik University area, which is only one subway stop from our guest house, so we headed back to the guest house to drop off all our bags.only one stop...so we walked it!we stopped off for some bbq on the way and walked the one stop on the subway instead of taking it... gotta work off all that pork! so we were to meet dan at - get this! - the HO Bar! he thinks they screwed up the english translation of the chinese character for 'how' since it's posted outside... oh well, it was so funny.so we walked up the street to look for the Ho Bar and found it:unfortunately we didn't notice the III (three) on it... guess what!? there are five Ho Bars!!! so after exploring two of the three floors, we called dan to figure out what the deal was and were informed that we
This week has been kind of crazy. I’ve been finalizing and packaging the orders from that nursery school shoot I did a while back, and been trying to find time/babysitters to watch the kids while I rush off and visit my poor old dad in hospital. He’s not well. He’s tired, old, and giving up. [...]
