      Never Too Young… To Volunteer
Volunteering with children is a great way to help them learn about giving back. Children learn valuable skills while “on the job.” Homeschooled students, who may have more time available for volunteering, could also enjoy the additional socialization opportunities presented through volunteering. Another benefit of volunteering is children learn about the concerns of the organization and what need it fills in the community. Consequently, the children also have an opportunity to remember what they have to be thankful for. Work Together It’s important to work side-by-side with your child, since leading by example has been shown to be the most effective form of teaching. Children who see their parents volunteering are much more likely to believe in the value of working to help others. Naturally, working side-by-side with your child will allow you to assist him/her when necessary, ensuring the child’s presence is a help, not a hindrance to the organization’s st

      Why Volunteer with the BSA
It is difficult for me to understand why some people do not volunteer. Especially with so many worthwhile organizations always having trouble finding enough people just to keep their programs functioning. In many cases, with more volunteers, these organizations could expand their programs to reach and help more people. I know I cannot help every deserving organization out there. So, I have chosen the ones I volunteer for carefully. One of those is the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). The BSA is committed to helping boys grow into responsible young men that exhibit the best morals, citizenship, and self-sufficiency possible. As a youth member, I benefited from the time and effort of many adults who worked with the program. As a youth member, I did everything I could with the program and believe my efforts helped improve it. As an adult,I have now been a member for several years and am now entrusted with running the program for a unit. I am the leader, despite not having any children

ONE of the best ways I've ever found to help myself grown is to give more of myself to others. There's just something about watching others grow from the time and care you have put into them. One of the truly special gifts of being a parent is having a child you can teach your skills to and one day watch them do all we can do even better. Even with children, it's an amazing experience to help others out with your free time and not much else will ever make you feel better about yourself. Below are ten ways you can volunteer even if you already have a busy family and career. 1. Your children's school- A great way to volunteer and spend more time with your children at the same time is to volunteer in their classrooms or at their school. 2. If there is anything more painful than Ian writing a report, it is me doing an interview. One dark night outside a small town in Alberta, a fire started inside the local sausage plant and in a blink of an eye it exploded into massive flames. The alarm went out to all the fire departments from miles around. When the volunteer fire fighters appeared on the scene, the sausage company president rushed to the fire chief and said, "All of our secret formulas are in the vault in the center of the plant. They must be saved and Il will give $50,000.00 to the fire department thatbrings them out intact." But the roaring flames held the firefighters off. Soon more fire departments had to be called in as the situation became desperate. As the firemen arrived, the president shouted out that the offer was now $100,000.00 to the fire department who could bring out the company's secret files. From the distance, a lone siren was heard as another fire truck came into sight. It was the nearby Mundare Rural Township Volunteer Fire Department, composed mainly of Ukrainian men over the age of 65

Know Them By Their Deeds: Methodist Volunteer Held in Molestation
According to The Arizona Republic, a youth fellowship volunteer was arrested for allegedly molesting a 13 year-old mentally retarded girl. Police reports and court records indicate that 39 year-old James Ward Chapman III admitted to inappropriate touching. As is generally the case with this sort of offense, it appears that this was not Chapman's first foray into sexual depravity and that the church had prior warnings about him.Police indicated that Chapman has generated prior complaints of inappropriately hugging teen church members, and Rev. Dan Morley confirmed that teens have complained to him about Chapman. One cannot help but wonder why the church permitted Chapman to continue in the youth fellowship after receiving multiple complaints about inappropriate behavior."The complaint was that he was engaging in too much interaction with the youth . . . too much hugging," he said. "We discussed boundaries, and he was no longer working with the youth fellowship group."The response of th

The Complete Guide To Volunteer Tourism
As travelers of all ages seek opportunities for truly unique, personal, travel experiences the popularity of volunteer tourism continues to grow. In the past, volunteer travel typically meant a significant investment of time – generally requiring people to spend several weeks or months supporting a project. Now there are a multitude of options for people interested in mixing smaller doses of volunteering in with their holiday travel. The question for many would-be “voluntourists” becomes, “how can I find a good volunteer travel program?” Xola Consulting has spent the past two years working with a range of organizations providing blended adventure/volunteer experiences to travelers as well as talking with so-called “voluntourists” from age 20 to 72, and here’s how we break it down. Volunteer to Improve Custom Search Engines
Another notable service that Google has launched last year is the custom search engine. With the ability of people to create their own search engines, lots of niche sites were able to further improve their collection of resources for the benefit of their users. To augment this effort further, the CSE team has provided a page where the best among the best of these custom search engines can be searched. It’s more of like the search engine for the best DIY search engines. The only CSEs that were included were chosen in terms of quality, recency, traffic and other metrics. If you want to get your custom search engine included, the Google Base is the place where you can do that. The featured CSE page can be used for those who would want to improve other’s search engines by contributing. via Google Blog   Tags: Google base, Google CSE, custom search engine, search engine

I would very much like to receive first hand reports from someone in the U.K. as each of the six episodes air there. So if you have the time, and want to share your impressions, I would be very happy to post your

      Volunteer With Horses
So you know the cheapest way to get extra horse experience? Can't quite remember how I found out about it, but I'll almost do anything to have myself working with horses. So, when I found out about Riding for the Disabled and the fact that they are always looking for volunteers, I thought - why not?One Saturday every two weeks for about a two year period, I joined up with other volunteers at Riding for the Disabled of Australia in Moorabbin, Victoria to help out with grooming ponies, feeding, tacking up and leading young riders around an arena, over and around obstacles and on 'trail rides'.RDA is really a great cause and what better way to get extra hands on with horses, and be able to help out at the same time? An added bonus if you'd like, this would look excellent on the resume but just helping out was reward enough. As someone who wants to eventually run my own agistment property and riding school, it was a great eye opener and an invaluable experience."In riding a horse we bo
