Mapping Software Improves Data VisualizationFrom the outset, it is important to clarify exactly what mapping software is and what it has to do with data visualization. If you are looking for driving directions for your next road trip, this is not the article for you. Visualization is a valuable tool for preparing to speak. By visualizing yourself in the venue, giving 100%, speaking to an appreciative audience, and running through your complete presentation successfully, you ready yourself mentally for the event.Visualization creates a positive mental framework for your performance, and by using visualization and positive affirmations together, you reframe the way your mind anticipates the event. However, what you may not realize is that you can also reframe the way your body anticipates the event. Visualizing the speaking situation can actually change the way your body responds to nervousness, taking you from adrenaline-fueled shakiness to relaxed stillness. The trick to changing your body's reaction to anxiety is to imagine physical sensations during y
How does visualization and confidence work together? Well, in order to become confident you need to learn to see yourself in a different light; you need to change from thinking negatively about yourself to feeling your own confidence. One of the best and most efficient ways to change how you see yourself is through visualization.

We are excited to launch the Google Visualization API, a new API designed for visualizing structured data. The API adds the ability to send queries to data sources and process the response. The first data source that already supports this API is Google Spreadsheets. We are also launching a set of visualization gadgets that use this API.With this API, you can read data from a data source that supports the API. You can read an entire table, or you can run a query on the data source using the API's query language. The query response is an easy to process data table designed to simplify data visualization. It includes both the underlying values and the formatted values, column types, headers and more.Use this API to create your own data visualization that is decoupled from data source implemen
The technique of visualization uses thoughts and imagination to bring about major life changes. It's simple: Picture in your mind the object of your desire (whether it's a situation, an event, or an image of yourself) as vividly as possible. Spend time concentrating on the image of wish fulfillment, truly believing in it as if it were already real. Be detailed and comprehensive, and be sure to include your emotional well-being in this vision as well. The reason visualization works is that your brain can't tell the difference between a real event and an imagined one; so by using your imagination, you can create positive experiences that improve your self-image and your skills, help you release worry, realize your goals, and so on—the possibilities are endless. You can now create an image
The human mind is a powerful thing. And although its complexity and intricacy currently stretches well beyond our comprehension, we DO still have a solid grasp of what it’s capable of. It’s the driving force for inventors, philosophers, scientists and specialists all over the world. Some of our brain’s uses, however, are less well known [...]
Would you like to imagine what you want and in a number of weeks acquire it? People who visualize practice this tool and that is exactly what occurs. With a little practice, anyone can be successful practicing this technique.I read Creative Visualization by Shakti Gwain, a best selling author and intuitive. The main premise is picturing exactly what we want down to the minutest detail. For example, someone wants a new car. They have to picture the make, model, color, etc. It is also a good idea to test drive it and feel what it is like. Then they can picture themself driving this gorgeous light blue Toyota Solara with tan interior. The wind blows softly through their hair while Devo plays beautifully on the crisp stereo as they excitedly drive down A1A overlooking the beach.

You've most likely heard the saying "A mind is a terrible thing to waste" and it is no truer then when trying to pick up or seduce a woman. Your mind is a powerful thing and using it to pick up a woman will help you get the woman of your dreams. People use visualization techniques for almost everything they do but they might not realize it. It is when people try to achieve something that they often think it through in their mind to see how it would end. You can do the same thing when you are trying to meet an attractive woman. The principle is the same whether you are visualizing winning a big game or winning the woman that you want. If you act it out in your mind first then the chances are you can do it in real life as well. You have to really make an effort to see each and every detail of what you want to happen when meeting a woman. Visualize yourself smiling at the woman, and what your opening comment would be. Perhaps you can visualize what kind of jokes you might tell her or the
The use of mental visualization can be extremely helpful in preparing for your interview. You can, by visualization, experience your coming interview, including a rehearsal of how you would react in specific situations. Many great athletes prepare for competition through visualization. And many of the great feats of history have been accomplished first through visualization. Sir Edmund Hillary, the first person to scale the heights of Mount Everest, was asked by a young reporter how it felt to be the first man to touch the peak of Everest. Hillary replied that it felt exactly the same as each of the previous times. What the puzzled reporter failed to see is that Hillary had already successfully scaled Everest many times through visualization. In preparing for the interview, go through the motions in your mind. Anticipate the questions that may be asked. Visualize yourself as confident and self-assured. Not cocky, just confident in your background and the benefits you can provide the em
I had a brilliant experience yesterday, I got to see in full glorious technicolour, inside me, live! Don't panic, I shan't go into details but it was amazing. For me, and I suspect for most people, everything is predominantly visual, I think in pictures and I have a little bit of an over active imagination. So when you are ill or not quite right it takes on nasty properties. Personally I blame my school. When I was a kid at school they had this plan that to put us off things like smoking and sex, they would pass round really gross things in jars of formaldehyde, like tarry cancerous lungs and mouldy green wombs and deformed unborn foetuses. Shock tactics and we were all scarred for life so much so that every time you are told that something needs further investigation, up pop those long buried horrific moments from school. In your mind things take on the colours of disease, livid purples and manky greens, horse hair and pine needles with glinting teeth. Well that's what happens in m
I’ve started yet another background project studying ways that Papervision 3D can be used for 3D data visualization. One of the earliest techniques in this area (for hierarchical data) was Cone Trees. The example below illustrates a very simple Papervision cone tree. Actual cones are used as the representation of the root node for a few reasons. First, I plan on having both free and target cameras available for tree/node visualization and fly-through. Cones are easily seen from any camera angle. Cones are already colored based on whether or not the node has children. The size of a cone may indicate the relative number of children (tall/thin -> few children, short/fat -> many children). This is helpful as I plan to add the ability to expand/contract nodes in the future.
Although visually unimpressive, the BaseCone class upon which the above image was created supports on-the-fly addition of children, with automatic repositioning of child nodes throughout the
Correct me if I’m wrong but I think it’s been at least two Windows releases since any new or updated Windows Media Player visualizations. Sure, what comes in the box are still visualizations by definition, but I couldn’t consider any of them eye-candy. Recently, a new visualization pack made by two Microsoft employees in their spare time is worth checking out.
Stephen Coy, the designer of the Windows Vista screensavers and Tim Cowley, a software engineer on the Office team have come together to release a visualizations pack for Windows Media Player called “Psychedelia” two years in the making. But don’t worry, no LSD drugs involved.
As a requirement to run these visualizations, you will need a graphics card that supports at least shader model 2.0 (most DirectX 9 graphics cards will), which might seem like a high requirement for visualizers, but how else are you suppose to create visual magic right?
Included in the single package are 7 visualizations

I’ve just been playing with it a little and I’ve been linked all over the show through their “networky” interface from Korn to NIN, Cher and Paul Simon, Underworld and The Chemical Brothers.
Cool interface, especially when I noticed that you can pick the moods by musical category as well (thought it was a bug at first caused by using Flash on Firefox 3 (nightly nicknamed “Minefield”).

Actually, the term “visualization” is a misnomer. With this technique, you will be using more than just your visual faculties. When you do Power Visualization, besides seeing what you desire, you will also hear it, smell it, taste it, and feel it.
Whatever you think about most often, expands in your life.
So if you are constantly worried about not having enough money, you will get more life experiences of not having enough money. Focusing on opporunities to make money will get you a thousand times further than worrying about the lack of it.
But Power Visualization is more than just positive thinking. It’s about putting your mind and body in the ideal place first, and then flooding your subconscious with a colorful experience of life as you want it.
The more relaxed you are, the more open your subconscious is to receive the messages you want to send it. And the more senses that you involve in your Power Visualization, the more of an impact it will have.
Let’s say

"When was the last time you saw money falling from the sky? One great way to increase your ability to manifest large amounts of money is to use the power of money visualization. First of all simply imagine that you are looking up at the big blue sky. It's a gorgeous day, with only a few small puffy clouds in the distance above. Then imagine small little pieces of paper are coming from those clouds. They are $100 bills raining down!! They start increasing in numbers now, thousands, millions and even billions of bills are floating down! Notice the smell of these crisp new bills. You are now in the midst of a major money visualization downpour! They are landing all over you, your house and the entire neighborhood and city! How does it feel to have those softly float down and land all over you? Do you feel abundant and free? If not, just notice that. Let yourself feel the freedom of having GREAT abundance. T
In the previous post, I had mentioned that Visualization is a powerful tool for success in your life. Have you even wondered for some reasons, you could never get something that you wanted badly? Writing goals and never able to achieve them?
Now I am going to tell you that the missing ingredient is Visualization. It is a very powerful tool for manifesting whatever you desire in your life. Peak performers visualize more and often.
How Visualization Works?
The body can’t differentiate an event which is vividly imagined and one that is experienced. We cannot think or imagine without some level of physical response occurring. In visualization, images and thoughts will lead to neurological patterns, which in turn, lead to muscular responses. Repetition of a sequence of thoughts and images, in other words visualization, the associated pattern in the nervous system is strengthened and the responses that are imagined have a higher probability of occurring in the actual situation.
It also hel
You may have heard of creative visualization from interviews with athletes who have used this powerful technique to win more gold medals and titles than perhaps any other single training method. By actually sensing, feeling and being in a perfect race or competition within their own heads, professional and amateur athletes are able to use these mental images to help them prepare for the actual race. What you may not realize is that the technique is essentially the very same as the Law of Attraction as popularised in the film and book, The Secret.
In 1984, Dr. Denis Waitley began using his idea for visualization with Olympic athletes. In his very popular 1986 book, The Psychology of Winning, Waitley outlined how to form and really use visualization as a tool for success. The athletes he coached were so effective in Olympic competition; his books became a de facto standard that even high school athletes have since tried his method.
Of course, really feeling and being in your chosen futur
I remember my life as a performer/programmer in NJ. I spent most of my nights singing dancing and acting while I spent the day meticulously wading through programming code. I remember, before a show, I’d usually find myself in a hectic, noisy dressing room with actors who were either singing to themselves, reciting lines to themselves, or, worse yet, complaining to themselves. I remember sneaking out of this room and venturing out to the only quiet place in the entire theater: the stage itself. I was so amazed at how a place that could hold such drama, applause, music, and laughter could be so noiseless right before showtime. In this place, I made it a ritual to visualize my role in the show and to virtually walk through all of my scenes. I’d take time to practice my lines and visualize myself as the character. I’d practice standing in my spots on stage while pausing every now and then to gaze at the empty house. I would imagine the seats full of nameless faces

Hi Folks,
I talked about visualizing your dream in your last post. There are many ways to do it, some do it via vision boards, some do it via meditation and some can even hold their vision like a high definition movie in their mind. For me I feel my way to my vision.
What I’m sharing here is a common way that most people can practice, I must say that I’m not the expert in this area and I used this method before I found out that feeling my way to my vision was more suitable for me. But most people start with this simple visualization technique, you will no doubt find a suitable way for yourself sometime along your journey.
So, here is how you do it:
1) Find a nice quiet, cooling place without distractions. Get a nice cushion, chair, mat to sit down.
2) Get you relaxation or beta wave musics ready on whatever players you like and play them at background volume and close your eyes.
3) Take 3 minutes to free yourself of whatever thought you have at that moment. Slowly erase the

Visualization works at least for parking spaces. Let me explain. Beth and I enjoy our special time at Barnes and Noble. It’s always crowded and there never is any parking available. Quite by mistake I started to say to Beth today we'll have a parking space right up front. To my surprise we parked just where I thought we'd park.
I found a great Data Visualization reference link. A big part of my job is parsing process data into manageable chunks. What I found is called "A Periodic Table of Visualization Methods". It organizes many different ways of seeing data into a periodic table format.
I found a visualization type on the table that I suspect I'll be using quite a lot: Smim Lane Diagrams. I know, I know. My inner Geek is showing. Sorry.
Here's my review of "Pan's Labyrinth"; What a great visual feast. The movie is so imaginative and surreal. The human characters are slightly stereotypical, but the fantastic characters are so very unique and vital. One's never quite sure of the intent of the fantasy characters -- I kept waiting for very bad things to happen. Very bad things do happen, in fact, and it was difficult not to look away. Rene said that I had a list of things I would change, and she's right. For a mainstream American audience the movie was too ambiguous, particularly the ending.
flangracneig pgoramian I’ve talked a lot about the “Website Visualization Gallery”, and I wasn’t sure how successful it would be. flangracneig pgoramian Yesterday, I had a bit of a down day. First of all, the new purchase that shall not be mentioned until I get it (don’t want to jinx it) was reported to take 1 to 2 months to arrive, as opposed to 1 to 2 weeks. This was my fault - the website I ordered it off was in German, and I can’t speak a bloody word of it. Nevertheless I canceled my order, went on ebay, found what I was looking for, and paid for it via paypal.
Twice.
I’m not entirely sure what happened, but £400 has gone out of my account (as opposed to £200). I’ll be honest I do whatever I usually do when something like this happened - panicked. I panicked for 2 long hours as I tried to get through to somebody to speak to in the UK Paypal call centre, traversing menu systems that are harder to navigate than Ziggurat Vertigo level on Quake 1 (tip, if you ever need to speak to somebody at the UK Paypal Call Centre, the quickest way is press 1, then press 4). This lovely picture above is a visualisation of the website Digg, done by Drivl.com, anyway, it got me thinking.
What would a visualisation of this site look like?
I mean, would it be considered “human”, and look like me? Or would the website creature be an amorphous blob like Digg, and pick up on a characteristic of this website. What about other websites like Han’s (who’s link to Drivl.com inspired this post), Guy’s, Celeste’s, Ryan’s or Paddy’s? What about bigger websites like Flickr and/or Youtube?
So, this got me an idea.
Visualise a website, and draw it. It can be as crap or as detailed as you want. Take a photo of it and email it to me, and I’ll post them up this time next week. Also, I’ll post a few of mine up. I can’t draw, so they don’t have to be good. Just little visualizations of websites you like. You’ll also get a nice little plug from me too.
So, what you waiting for?
Information Visualization &/or Picture Thinking
Picture thinking, visual thinking or visual/spatial learning is the phenomenon of thinking through visual processing, where most people would think with linguistic or verbal processing. It is nonlinear and often has the nature of a computer simulation, in the sense that a lot of data is put through a process to yield insight into complex systems, which would be impossible through language alone.
Dimensions of picture thinkers
In psychology, picture thinking is often confused with dyslexia, and it is true that people who ‘think in pictures’ often have difficulty with learning to read, but not all picture thinkers suffer from the normal symptoms associated with dyslexia. Some autistics think in pictures.
Traits that most picture thinkers do share are:
Thinking with the meaning of language in terms of multidimensional scenarios of the ideas and concepts, as opposed to the sound of language.
